The Wonders of Snæfellsnes
The Snæfellsnes peninsula in the west of Iceland is almost like a miniature version of the whole country. In addition to its characteristic Snæfellsjökull glacier, you will find white and black sandy beaches, bird cliffs, spectacular mountains and volcanic craters, incredibly rich trout lakes and salmon rivers, lush valleys, and unique harbours in charming fishing villages.
The stunning landscape of the peninsula has captured the imagination of people all over the world, ever since Jules Verne wrote the famous science fiction novel Journey to the Centre of the Earth but the journey begins at Snæfellsjökull glacier.

This is Part 4 of 4 of the Iceland Vacation Documentary. In early August 2015 my family traveled to Iceland - this documentary shares my experience with video footage and my own thoughts with narration. We traveled on several tours to see as much as possible in one week. Part 1 is about Reykjavik the capital city, Part 2 is about the Golden Circle Tour, Part 3 is about the Blue Lagoon and Whale Watching, and Part 4 is about the Snaefellsnes Peninsula.

Wonders of Iceland
Humanity’s reach has gone far beyond that of our forefather’s wildest dreams. Cities stretch the four corners of the globe as a living, breathing, testament to man’s achievements, but there’s a great big world out there and not all of it’s cityscape and civilization. This is Map’d out: Iceland.

Iceland: Rauðfeldsgjá
From Wikipedia:
Rauðfeldsgjá is a ravine or natural wonder in Snæfellsnes Peninsula in Iceland. The ravine is interesting from a geological point of view and also as a place mentioned in the Icelandic saga, Bárðar saga Snæfellsáss. In that saga, written around 600 years ago about events that occurred about 12 centuries ago, the tragic story that gave the ravine its name is told. And also about the name of the cliff. It is a story where Bárður, in anger over the loss of his daughter, threw the two brothers Rauðfeldur and Sölvi into the ravine and of the cliff.
