Places to see in ( Weimar - Germany ) Theaterplatz
Just over 250 years ago, the site of today's Theaterplatz was pure arable land. At that time the Wittumspalais , along today's Wielandstraße, was a city wall. In front of it was a green meadow. In the years 1757 to 1765 the softening of Weimar took place. The medieval city wall was demolished and it began the usual land speculation.
The Wittumspalais was built on the east side of the newly created square. West of it grew a large garden, which was abandoned in 1820. Originally the Chinese Pavilion erected for Anna Amalia , which was demolished after her death by her son Carl August 1818/19, in 1821 he left the building with the paintings of Adam Friedrich Oeser (1717-1799) in the castle park of Belvedere true to the original rebuild.
Here the pavilion received the today common name Red Tower. 1779/80 was approximately at the site of today's National Theater, the Comedy House (also Redoutenhaus called), which was raised in 1791 for the Court Theater, the predecessor of today's National Theater . The central focus of the square is the 1857 designed by Ernst Rietschel Late Classical Goethe-Schiller monument .
Today Theaterplatz opens up all directions of the city: via Schillerstraße to the southeast, Schützengasse to the south, Dingelstedtstraße to the west, Wielandstraße to the north to Goetheplatz, and finally the Zeughof leads into the old town.

my interest in public space is growing. I'm curious about how people behave in public open space and their movements related with the access and the special characteristics or features that is offered.
So I guess sitting and observing on the public open space will be a good opportunity to spend my time, learn, and relax on the same time, hehe.

Weimar was quite the intellectual hotspot back in the day, with Goethe, Friedrich Schiller, Bach, Liszt, Lucas Cranach and the Weimar School all spending time here. Goethe groupies will enjoy visiting his home, his tomb and the museum dedicated to him. If you’re in search of great food, visit during the Weimar Onion Market, held in October. (Just don’t forget your mints.)
Weimar is a city in the federal state of Thuringia, Germany. It is located between Erfurt in the west and Jena in the east, approximately 80 kilometres southwest of Leipzig, 170 kilometres north of Nuremberg and 170 kilometres west of Dresden.

Weimar is a city in central Germany. It's known as the birthplace of Weimar Classicism, a humanistic cultural movement. The Goethe & Schiller Monument in front of the German National Theater celebrates the 2 writers, who lived in the city. Goethe’s baroque residence is now the Goethe National Museum. The Schiller Museum is adjacent to the writer’s home. Bauhaus Museum Weimar has works by architect Walter Gropius.
The historical epicentre of Germany's 18th-century Enlightenment, Weimar is an essential stop for anyone with a passion for the country's history and culture. A pantheon of intellectual and creative giants lived and worked here: Goethe, Schiller, Bach, Cranach, Liszt, Nietzsche, Gropius, Herder, Feininger, Kandinsky – and the list goes on. You’ll see them memorialised on the streets, in museums and in reverently-preserved houses across town. In summer, Weimar’s many parks and gardens lend themselves to quiet contemplation of all this intellectual and cultural gravity (or allow you to take a break from it).
Weimar is also the place where, post WWI, the constitution of the German Reich, known by historians as the Weimar Republic (1919–33), was drafted, though there are strangely few reminders of this historical moment. Nearby, the unadorned, unaltered remains of the Buchenwald concentration camp provide sobering testament to the crimes of the subsequent Nazi regime.
Weimar is the town of Goethe and Schiller and is found in Thuringia (Thüringen) state, Germany. Weimar is a small town with lots of tourists, most of whom come in on coaches for day-visits. Roads can be congested in the mornings and evenings. The best and most convenient way is by train. Deutsche Bahn offers direct connections from Berlin, Leipzig and Erfurt. Weimar Hauptbahnhof is about a kilometre from Goetheplatz. Weimar is small and the best way is by foot or bike. Weimar has a public transport system but as a tourist you won't need it. Taxis are at night the best way when you feel lost and they are used to cater tourists.

See for more information.
This clip is part of the Bauhausmaschine DVD Season 1
Here you see images, taken by several photographers at mediasync solutions crazy Bauhaus Birthday performance on Weimars Theaterplatz, right in front of the famous Goethe- and Schiller Denkmal in front of the German National theatre.
The clips show realtime animations, created with MAX/MSP and MXWendler,
most of them featuring images of projects and events of the Bauhaus Anniversary jubilee in Weimar.
Bauhausmaschine is a procedural mobile exhibition-installation-artpiece, and is usually presented on 3 videoprojectors or 4 Plasma screens at 3072x768. These recordings had to be done slightly smaller, but still at 1280x768.
The aim is more to obtain a steady flow of images, rather than a dramtic sequence. Being presented at an event, the viewers decide, when to join or leave the flow and build their own narrative from their experience. For obvious reasons only part of this magic can be transported in the format of a music video clip, so don't miss the next Bauhausmaschine experience in a gallery near you...
