Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, we got married June 2013 and quickly caught the travel bug! We started “travel hacking” and taking more trips together and finally decided we wanted to travel for one year. After 2 years of saving $ and travel hacking over 2 million miles and points, we sold our cars and apartment and left home January 10, 2016. We started this YouTube channel to share our experiences with friends and family, then decided we really liked vlogging and traveling. So we extended our 1 year trip to THREE years :) Now we have a goal of traveling to 100 countries before 2020! We are incredibly thankful to do something we love every day. :)

Episode № 1 ⇝ The Old Route to Everest ◮
Subscribe and join me, Vivi, in my trip around the world! This series follows my journey trekking solo from Jiri to EBC in April 2018.
In this episode we begin the arduous trek from Jiri to Everest Base Camp, driving in from Kathmandu to Jiri on Day 1 (approx 200km), then walking from Jiri to Deurali on Day 2 (18.2km).
It was a rough bus ride in, as my travel agent tried to warn me; 'it's a local bus, on bad roads, are you sure you don't want to fly to Lukla?', I ofcourse didn't know what local bus and bad roads really meant, so I found that out the hard way!
The second day, I imagined to be gentle slopes, gradually getting higher. Unfortunately, after lunch Bimal points to the top of a hill and tells me that's Deurali, where we are going, I thought he was joking, he was not.
Hope you enjoyed this episode, I'm happy to answer any questions in the comments so feel free to ask!
I booked my Everest trek through Madan at Top of the World Adventure in Kathmandu, who organise all kinds of treks and adventures throughout Nepal, Bhutan and Tibet. Madan is a dedicated and super organised agent! If you would like to book a tour, visit the website here and check out the tours topoftheworldadv.com
If you're interested in any treks in Nepal, I highly recommend contacting Bimal to see if he is free to guide you! He is a kind, honest, hilarious guide/personal trainer/friend. You can get in contact with him at: Bimalsstha@gmail.com
Happy Trekking!

Mt Everest Base Camp Trek 2017
After spending a couple of days in KATHMANDU, Dad and I took a 45min flight and flew to LUKLA to start our epic trek to Everest Base Camp. One of the most dangerous flights in the world!
I'm a total trekking rookie but Mt Everest had always interested me and this was a way I could get really close and personal.
Not only was I a rookie trekker but I had never been at altitude by foot and like everything in my life, I wanted to do it naturally.
My guide told me 99% of people take a prescribed drug called Diamox.
This was going to be interesting.
My Dad is 70 in a couple of months. I felt like it was now or never.
Massive shout out and BIG thanks to -
Himalayan Scenery Trek & Expedition straight out of Kathmandu, Nepal.
BIG Thanks to our awesome guides Shiba & Dussi.
And Thanks a million to the whole UK and Aussie crew who trekked their way to Base Camp with us.
Gary, Caroline, Sam, Mel, Dave, Clare, Alice and of course my Dad.
This is a great video to watch if you are thinking of trekking to EBC during April/May as you can see what gear we are all wearing as we move through each day. We had a low of -13 degrees celsius.
Thanks and Enjoy!

The flight is just 40 minutes across the Himalayas but it is one of the most challenging flight to operate with many restrictions and flow control.

Join us for this special video, the third in a series highlighting the perils, delights and excellent views experienced flying between Nepal and Bhutan, making use of Kathmandu Airport and also the famous Paro airport, where only trained captains are permitted to take off and land due to the challenging geography of the airport, which sees Paro airport at the bottom of a deep valley surrounded by the tallest mountains in the world, the Himalayas.
See part one of the series, our amazing flight from Kathmandu airport to Paro airport here:
See part two of the series, consisting of an extended and highly enjoyable plane spotting session at Paro airport here:
In this video, we fly back to Kathmandu airport from Paro airport on Bhutan airlines. Before saying goodbye to Paro in Bhutan, we take a moment to admire the very beautiful and unique decoration of the passenger terminal of the remote Paro airport with its polished, wooden check in counters each with a different, intricately patterned artwork attached – the passenger terminal building was constructed back in 1999 and retains, to this day, a lot of unique and aged character which you won’t find anywhere else in the world.
We also take the opportunity to explore the business class lounge of Paro airport; despite the airport’s remote location, there is still a fantastic selection of food and drink available.
Up in the air, we are once again in the hands of an expertly trained captain, the highly competent Captain Senga, letting us relax and enjoy the stunning views of the mountains and clouds. We also have the opportunity to sample the onboard hospitality of Bhutan airlines, with a free hot towel and provided snack, some delicious hot sausage rolls, to keep us ticking over on our short flight.
Particular viewing highlights in the video include a breath-taking view of Mount Kangchenjunga, which stands at 8,586 metres tall, the third tallest mountain in the world, and a magnificent view of Paro airport shortly after departure, showing how it is deeply sunk in to its surrounding valley.
We have a little bit more time to admire the view as we are held circling in the air, 50 kilometres south of Kathmandu airport due to traffic congestion. Kathmandu airport only has nine parking stands for 42 international airlines and has only a single, bumpy, concrete runway meaning that traffic congestion at the airport is often a problem.
There is also no instrument landing system available at Kathmandu airport (also known as Tribhuvan International Airport) and we have an in-depth discussion and educational insight from the Captain surrounding the consequences of this - when flying in to Kathmandu airport, it is necessary to make use of the VOR or RNAV (RNP) approach system. The Kathmandu viewer has a non-precision approach, with the required visibility at the airport normally being a minimum of 3000 feet. Between December and February, visibility coming in to Kathmandu airport is often less than this, making things extra challenging for pilots trying to land there.
We hope you enjoyed the flight from Paro to Kathmandu – let us know what you thought of the whole exciting journey in the comments below and as always, thanks for watching!

Bus Ride in Nepal from Kathmandu to Pokhara
Join us as we take a bus ride in Nepal going from Kathmandu to Pokhara on a full day of travel using Pokhara Jagadamba Travels Bus service. We decided to pay a bit more (about $20 USD) for a bus that offered extra comfortable seats, air conditioning, meal service (breakfast and buffet lunch), and a hostess that brought us tea and snacks as opposed to more budget options that exist for fraction of that price. We figured since we knew it would be a bumpy and dusty trip we'd rather splurge a little and it was well worth it in our opinion. Upon arriving in Pokhara, after we give you guys a little room tour of our hotel, we find a nice restaurant to enjoy some pizza and Indian food before grabbing wine and calling it a day with a glass of wine.

Bus Ride in Nepal from Kathmandu to Pokhara travel vlog video transcript:
Travel day.
Woah. Tire. The tire fell off.
Woah.
It is smoggy.
It sure is.
Okay, so good morning from Kathmandu. Today is a travel day. And we're going to Pokhara. I've been calling it Pokhara all along. Apparently that is not how you pronounce it.
Yeah, so we're up bright and early. What time is it at the moment? It is seven fifteen. No, it is not even seven thirty. It is seven fifteen.
And we're just we're basically dropped off on the side of the road and apparently our bus is going to come here.
We are really hopeful this is the right area. Fingers crossed. Double fingers crossed.
So the air is quite dusty and polluted in Kathmandu on a normal day but today it is foggy so it is like the fumes are almost getting trapped in the air and you can see that today. The air has texture. It just looks thick and grey over the city.
So yeah, that is what Kathmandu is like. We're just waiting by the side of the road breathing in the fumes. Lots of honking going on. And I hope the bus gets here soon. I am really looking forward to Pokhara where it is a lakeside and mountainside setting. So hopefully the air will be a little fresher and cleaner. I'm missing clean air.
We're going to be here for 45 minutes.
45 minutes. Yeah, we got here way too early. Our bus doesn't leave until 8 and it is like seven twenty at the moment. No, seven eighteen.
I was concerned about traffic because it can be insane and I wasn't sure if rush hour would be chaos and then we'd miss our bus.
I guess rush hour is more like an hour later. Sometime between eight and nine. But at seven in the morning yeah the traffic isn't too bad.
There is traffic out there but it is not like bumper to bumper. There is no gridlock at this time of day.
So how are you feeling about our next destination Pokhara?
I'm really excited about it. It is going to be considerably smaller than Kathmandu and it also just from pictures we've seen it looks a lot more scenic. We're going to be out by a lake and I'm looking forward to that because Kathmandu has been fun but it has also been really chaotic.
So I'm ready for a change of pace.
Also, I'm mildly amused because we keep seeing these shuttles driving by and everyone is asking Pokhara, Pokhara, Pokhara do you want to come hop on the bus.
The thing is these buses and shuttles are like bursting at the seems. There is visibly no more room for people but they are still trying to get us on and yeah we've already bought tickets so really it makes no sense.
And like as we've been traveling the road conditions have been getting a little bit better like in terms of the quality of the roads and also not as much traffic either.
After an eight hour bus ride. I think we're going for comfort food.
Nepal the land of mysticism and Himalayan grandeur brings you this limited edition of Everest.
Everest.
Uh, it is nice. So refreshing. I mean this is one of those chilled glasses and I needed this after sucking in all of that dust. That was an eight hour dust fest on the bus.
So great adventures to come from Pokhara and we'll be doing lots of food vlogs and other things. Some sightseeing of course and maybe a bit of hiking so please stay tuned for that and we look forward to showing all of that.
This is part of our Travel in Nepal video series showcasing Nepali food, Nepalese culture and Nepali cuisine.

Amazing Nepal : Plane Takes off at the Lukla Airport : Summit International Travels & Tours
Lukla Airport, the gateway to the Everest region, has been ranked eighth among the world's top 10 stunning and inspirational airport approaches by PrivateFly.com.
The private jet-booking agency based in St. Albans, Hertfordshire has suggested its 10 recommended airports to adventure lovers as A View to a Thrill.
The surrounding terrain, thin air, highly changeable weather and the airport's short, sloping runway make it one of the most challenging landings in the world. History Channel's Most Extreme Airports programme has ranked Lukla as the most dangerous airport in the world.
Lukla is a 35-minute flight from Kathmandu. It is the busiest domestic airport in the country, handling more than 50 flights daily during the tourist season. Only short take off and landing (STOL) airplanes can land at Lukla.
The runway is 351 m long and rises over 30 m from the bottom to the top, giving it an angle of about 10 degrees. The airport lies at an elevation of 2,800 m.
It was built in the 1960s with the support of Sir Edmund Hillary.
In January 2008, the airport was renamed Tenzing-Hillary Airport in honour of the first Everest summitters.
PrivateFly.com has named Sion Airport in Switzerland the perfect touchdown at Europe's most stunning airport. St. Maarten-Princess Juliana Airport in the Netherlands was placed third.
St. Barts in the Caribbean, Gibraltar, St. Gallen-Altenrhein in Switzerland, Madeira Funchal in Portugal and London City airport come after Lukla as the most thrilling and adventurous airports.
