Clement town lake| AFSB Centre 1, Dehradun | Uttarakhand
A short video taken at the Clement town lake in Dehradun near the Air Force Selection Board Center 1.
Regular local people of all age groups can be seen here coming in morning and evening for their walks.
This is a regular for the Air force aspirants who are called to AFSB 1 for intervew. Apart from the ducks there is a fountain at the middle to the one side of lake which looks lovely.
Clement Town is a town of Dehradun district in the state of Uttarakhand, India. It borders Rajaji National Park and is home to several renowned institutions. Schools such as Raja Ram Mohan Roy Academy and St. Mary's are in the neighbourhood. Country singer Bobby Cash resides in Clement Town. The Graphic Era Deemed University is also present here.

Inspired by the 14th Dalai Lama's TCV (Tibetan Children's Village), The Tibetan Children’s Home was established in Dhondupling Tibetan Colony, Clement Town, Dehra Dun, India on 18 March 1991.
A large Tibetan settlement and the World's Largest Stupa, of the re-established Mindroling Monastery from Tibet, is situated in Clement Town, which was inaugurated on 28 October 2002 and is surrounded by a 2-acre (8,100 m2) garden. It is the highest Mindroling Monastery in the world
There is also a 103 feet (31 m) high statue of Buddha is dedicated to the Dalai Lama.
Do visit the lake if you get the chance. Hope its beauty is mantained by the army administrations.
Also special mention is of the statue of Maha Vir Chakra winner Rifleman Jaswant Singh Rana who laid down his life in the 1962 Indo-China War is also very next to the lake.
Swaying prayer flags on top of flag hill in Jaberkhet
Flag Hill is located around five kilometers east of Mussoorie just off Tehri Road. The hill is littered with granite boulder formations, offering great opportunities for beginners of the sport right through to the more advanced climber. The boulders started to be climbed by Suman Mitra and students from Woodstock School early in 2010. Ben Windsor searched extensively over the hill later in the year and discovered the potential of cleaning and setting up a guide for the place. There are a variety of styles and something for every boulder-lover on the hill. There are four areas of the hill that are covered within this guide.

Landour lies far higher in a more rarified atmosphere, and consists of a small cantonment town contiguous with Mussoorie, is about 35 km (22 mi) from the city of Dehradun in the northern state of Uttarakhand in India. The twin towns of Mussoorie and Landour, together, are a well-known British Raj-era hill station in northern India. Mussoorie-Landour was widely known as the Queen of the Hills. The name Landour is drawn from Llanddowror, a village in Carmarthenshire in southwest Wales. During the Raj, it was common to give nostalgic English, Scottish, Welsh or Irish names to one's home (or even to British-founded towns), reflecting one's ethnicity. Names drawn from literary works were also common, as from those by Robert Burns, Walter Scott, Thomas Hardy, Robert Louis Stevenson and many others.
Mussoorie is a hill station and a municipal board in the Dehradun District of the northern Indian state of Uttarakhand. It is located about 35 km from the state capital of Dehradun and 290 km north from the national capital of New Delhi. This hill station, situated in the foothills of the Garhwal Himalayan ranges, is also known as the Queen of the Hills. The adjoining town of Landour, which includes a military cantonment, is considered part of 'greater Mussoorie', as are the townships of Barlowganj and Jharipani.

Dehradun India
Capital of Uttarakhand since 2000, DEHRA DUN, 255km north of Delhi, is pleasantly located just below 700m, as the Himalayan foothills begin their dramatic rise. It stands at the centre of the 120km-long Doon Valley (dun or doon means valley),
Khalanga war memorial, Nalapani, Uttarakhand
The war memorial stands in the battle field of Khalanga. It is a testimony of valour indomitable courage, highest fighting spirit and supreme sacrifice of Gorkha soldiers, women and children in the battle field of Khalanga during Oct/Nov 1814.
India is proud of the Gorkhas and their historic and valourous link with India. This is one example of our acknowledgement of their contributions to India and South Asia.
In Oct 1814, the British 3 infantry division comprising of 3500 soldiers, supported by heavy artillery guns under the command of Major General Robert Rolle Gillespie was assigned the task to capture Khalanga fort Nalapani, the fort was defended by Balbhadra Singh Thapa and his Gorkha soldiers numbering 500-600 in all (including families and children).
Note: According to one document his name was Balbhadra Thapa and another document says its Balbhadra Kunwar. Kindly help us in identifying correct name.
Owing to Delay in arrival of General Gillespie, Colonel Mawby, in his eagerness mounted the first attack on the fort on 26th October, 1814, after heavily shelling the target, the Gorkha soldiers fought resolutely and repulsed the enemy attack, inflicting heavy causalities in their rank and files. Major General Gillespie afterwards took over the command of the force and launched another attack with all his might, Bhalbhadra Singh Thapa and the Gorkha joined by their women and children stood firm on their ground and fought bravely with their primitive weapons, khukris, arrows and even stones. In the pitched closed quarter battle General Gillespie was felled along with his ADC Capt 'O' Hara and many others, the attackers suffered heavy causalities and once again pushed back, forcing them to seek relief and re-inforcement the incredulous and stead fast display of courage put forth by Gorkha men, women and children assisted by a compliment of Garhwalis and Kumaonis enabled Balbhadra Singh Thapa to defeat the British attack thrice. Later due to very adverse battle conditions and the only source of water supply to the fort having been cut off by the enemy, Balbhadra Singh Thapa vacated the fort on his own with 70 odd remnants on 30 Nov, 1814.

Pham Ngu Lao nightlife is also one of Ho Chi Minh’s finest, with throngs of street vendors, bia hoi stalls, lively bars, and downtown clubs filling up the lively scene. Interesting nightlife entertainment spots include The View Rooftop Bar, Seventeen Saloon, Go 2 and Crazy Buffalo Nightclub as well as many smaller pubs that are known for their cheap drinks and happy hour promos. It’s also common around here to meet friendly expats who are more than happy to share a few tips about travelling in and beyond Vietnam. If you want to immerse yourself in the local culture, we highly suggest getting up early and visit the parks within the area. It is interesting to see (and even to join in on) the elders participating in Tai Chi-like exercise sessions. Another must-do is heading to the morning markets such as Ben Tanh Market, where local vendors sell a wide array of fresh produce, household supplies, and Vietnamese street food at attractive prices. As Pham Ngu Lao is not such a large area, it’s the perfect place to explore on foot - the best time to do this is in the morning and late afternoon as the weather can be rather scorching at the height of the day. If you’re feeling adventurous, there are also travel agencies that can help arrange for day trips within the city centre and beyond...

Uttarakhand, India Flood Deaths As Homes Fall Into River
At least 23 people have been killed in northern India after torrential rain and flooding led to homes plunging into the River Ganges and roads being washed away.
More than a dozen people died in the Rudraprayag district of Uttarakhand state, while another 50 people were missing, said officials.
A landslide triggered by the monsoon rains, which arrived weeks ahead of schedule, buried a bus, killing three in Almora district.
Rains lashed Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh for the fourth consecutive day on Tuesday, taking up the toll to 58 and leaving over 58,000 people wet and miserable after they got stranded.
The met department predicted more rains over the next two days in northern India.Officials continued with the rescue operations in rain-hit areas as the toll in the two states climbed to 58. While 40 perished in the torrential downpour in Uttarakhand, 18 people died in Saharanpur district of UP.
Sources say more than 58,000 people are stranded at different places on the route of the Chardham Yatra - Yamunotri, Gangotri, Badrinath and Kedarnath.
The onward trip to Hemkunt Saheb - the sacred pilgrimage for Sikhs - has also been abandoned for now, officials say.
At many places while the gushing rivers have washed away roads and caused land slides, flood waters has entered several villages on banks of the Alaknanda river.
The Ganga is flowing two metres above the danger mark and an alert has been sounded and people have been asked to desist from bathing in the holy river.
Army officials say bases have been made for rescue operations in Bareilly and Sarsawa.
Members of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) are however unable to move further from Dehradun owing to inclement weather.
Fourteen choppers of the Indian Army have also been put on standby for rescue operations.
Uttarakhand chief minister Vijay Bahuguna while admitting that the situation was grave, said that the government was working swiftly to rescue people stranded at different places and providing relief to the flood effected areas.
Rescue operations are being carried out in the hill state by the army, para-military Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) and disaster management authority.
According to information from state officials, the deaths have been reported from Rambada (13), Gaurikund (2), Harshil (1), Vikas Nagar (4), Dhanaulti (1), Dehradun (3), Chamoli (1), Patal Ganga (1) and three deaths in other places.
Hundreds of pilgrims enroute to the Char Dham Yatra - Badrinath, Gangotri, Kedarnath and Yamunotri- continued to be trapped between landslides and gushing waters of several rivers which are in spate.
Officials informed that more than 5,000 people were stranded in Uttarkashi, 1,000 in Joshimath, 10,000 in Govindghat, more than 10,000 in Badrinath and 6,000 in Ghaghria.
The state government has asked officials to barricade the route before Rishikesh and ask pilgrims and tourists to go back.
The rains, which began Saturday night, have continued for the past three days. The Met department said the rains in the month of June have since broken an 88-year record. Between Saturday and Sunday, Dehra Dun received 220 mm of rains and by evening, another 220 mm of rains.
The worst-hit areas include Rudraprayag and Uttarkashi, where Mandakini river is in spate. In Rambada, the river water entered the market area.
With the met department having forecast more thunder showers, the already grave situation may worsen with more landslides as the hillsides have become weak following incessant rain, said the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF).
In Himachal, five members of a family, including three children, were buried alive early Monday when boulders fell on their house at Chagaon village near Tapri, some 220 km from Shimla, Superintendent of Police G. Shiva Kumar said over phone.
The public works department (PWD) of Uttarakhand has confirmed serious damage to 450 roads in the state.
Regional Met director of Uttarakhand Anand Sharma said the situation might slightly improve from Tuesday evening onwards as the rains are likely to subside.
Several trains, including Sriganganagar Express, Hemkund Express and Janshatabdi have been cancelled due to flooding of tracks, a railway official said.
Several houses collapsed in Sardhana area of Meerut while 18 people were killed in Saharanpur in roof collapse and a car was washed away by rain water.
With more rains expected, the situation is likely to worsen in the hill state while flood warnings have been issued in Uttar Pradesh and Delhi.
Ten deaths, including five members of a family, were reported from Himachal Pradesh while 1,500 tourists, mainly from West Bengal, remained stranded in remote Kinnaur district after incessant rainfall triggered landslides.
Also stranded was chief minister Virbhadra Singh, who was electioneering for the Mandi parliamentary by-poll slated June 23.
