TIME FOR CHOPIN - KATARZYNA HUSHTA - WARSAW 2017
TIME FOR CHOPIN :
_________________________________________________________________
The Time for Chopin project was created with love to Frederic Chopin's music.
The thought of creation of this project was in our hearts long ago. We wanted to create the pleasant place where we, as the group of professional musicians, will be able to share our interpretations and our understanding of the music of this great composer with our guests. The daily concerts, which are carried out by different pianists, give you the chance to try out in different interpretations, become a theme of fascinating conversations, equally inspire both guests, and performers, allow to see well-known works from a different side.
The project is created by the outstanding pianists with passion to Frederic Chopin's music.
The pianists acting in Time for Chopin are the persons who are musically estimated at the uncountable number of the Polish and international competitions of the pianists and festivals performing in almost whole Europe and on other continents. In their creative development they were accompanied by the greatest modern pianists, influencing artistic formation and depth of interpretation.
The project is created also by guests of Time For Chopin!
Guests who come to our concerts are one of the key elements of the Time for Chopin project. Your presence and perception of music of Frederic Chopin are the most important for us. The chamber mood of the concert hall promotes a peculiar musical dialogue with the auditorium in the course of the performance of a solo concert, and after the concert, there is time to exchange opinions between guests and the artist. Chopin's Warsaw
If you visit Warsaw you're guaranteed to find many places bearing the name of Frederic Chopin, a world famous Polish composer. Chopin was born in a small town near Warsaw in 1810 and lived in Warsaw for about twenty years before moving to Paris where he spent the rest of his life and died in 1849. Upon his death, he requested that his heart be brought back to Warsaw where it now rests in the wall of Holy Cross Church. In this video, we visit the Fryderyk Chopin Museum to learn more about the life and work of this musical genius and favourite son of Warsaw.
Huge thank you to the Polish Tourism Organization for having us!

First Time in Poland | 48 Hours in Warsaw
Welcome to Poland everybody! This is our first experience here in this country and we are going to spend 48 hours in Warsaw to kick off this series.
After a few delays we finally arrived in Warsaw, so we checked into our hotel and headed out to the old town to get some Polish dumplings and traditional polish potatoe pancakes to end our first night.
The next day we headed out into the old town and saw
- Old Town Square
- Warsaw Castle
- University Campus of Warsaw library viewpoint
We then went up the bell tower in castle square which is a great view point to see the city. For lunch we headed out to the Koszyki Covered Market.
In the afternoon we headed out to The largest park in Warsaw Lazienki Krolewskie and went on a little water gondola ride.
To end our time in Warsaw we went out to the Nocny markets.

Chopin: Polonez A-dur, 1929 - Orchestra of Grand Theatre in Warsaw dir. by Bronisław Szulc
Polonez A-dur (Fr. Chopin – Orkiestra symfoniczna [Teatru Wielkiego w Warszawie] dyr. przez Bronisława Szulca (The Symphony Orchestra of the Grand Theatre in Warsaw) cond. by Bronisław Szulc, Syrena-Electro 1929 (Polish)
NOTE: Today in Poland we celebrate the 75th Anniversary of the outbreak of the Warsaw Uprising against Germans, which started on 1st of August, 1944. The uprising was led by the Polish Underground State (Armia Krajowa) and lasted 63 days. Its fall was partly caused by the still prevailing military power of the collapsing Third Reich, yet the crucial cause was the refusal of the Poland’s Western allies to help the fights as well as reluctance of the Stalin’s Red Army to continue its march westwards: it stopped on the line of Vistula River and waited idly on the bank of the river until January 1945, when the ashes of the city burning on the other side cooled down.
The Teheran conference Nov/Dec 1943 held between USA, Great Britain and Soviet Union to decide about the political shape of the world after the collapse of Hitler’s empire, resulted, among other decisions, in agreement to donate the territory of Poland with its 30 million people to Stalin’s Gulag empire – the Western Allies’ present to Soviet dictator for joining the anti-Hitler coalition with president Roosevelt and Winston Churchill. The agreement also stated the eastern half of Polish territory be cut off from Poland and included into territory of the Soviet Union. Such was Stalin’s wish, to receive the most beautiful and historically richest part f Poland with its 15 million inhabitants, plentitude of natural recources including oil in the Carpathian regions, as well as the most beautiful historical Polish cities such as Lwów, Wilno, Grodno, Tarnopol and dozens of others. Stalin’s demand was eagerly fulfilled in Teheran – the fact which was kept in secret from the Polish ally, until the Polish cannon fodder was needed in the struggles on all fronts of the WW2. .
However, the message of the Western powers betrayal of Poland, was slowly seeping into the occupied Poland. The decision of starting the uprising against the Third Reich on the 1st Aug 1944, was therefore supposed to be a desperate act of Polish society’s protest against that treason by the Western allies of Poland, the protest against throwing Poland into the paws of the next executioner - Stalin and demonstration of Polish attachment to freedom. The Uprising after several days of the successful struggle, turned soon into a merciless slaghter of tens of thousands of Warsaw’s inhabitans and total destruction of the city, compared only with the annihilation of the Carthage in the ancient times. The desinteressement of the Western forces to help the dying city – expressed openly by president Roosevelt in his public statement on the 24 th of August 1944 - as well as Red Army’s idle camping on the other side of Vistula until the city dies, made Hitler unbounded in his mad hatred for Poland and for the Polish capital city.
In January 1945, when ther Soviets finally walked into what used to be Warsaw – announcing themselves as the “liberators” of the Polish nation – the city was nothing by enormous stretch of ruins reaching the horizon, with occasional spires miraculously saved and or a front wall of some building stuck out into the sky. Most of Varsawians had been buried in the basements of the collapsing houses or murdered in the mass executions together with their parents, children and neighbors. The 1,5 million capital city, called before the war the Paris of the East and considered as one of the most beautiful towns in Europe, became one more victim of the Teutonian dectructive fury in modern history. Now, Warsaw is again a lively & colourful, cosmopolitan metropolis however, it’s true old spirit had forever been broken.
How to get to town from Warsaw Airport by train - featuring Line S2 and Pesa Elf 27WE
The Warsaw Frederic Chopin Airport is served by frequent rail services operated by the SKM (Szybka Kolej Miejska, Fast City Rail) and KM (Koleje Mazowieckie, Masovian Railways). To reach the train station, turn right when you enter the Arrival Hall and follow the signs. It is a roughly 300m walk to the station which is located underground. Some ticket machines can be found along the way. I recommend using the red SKM machines because they sell tickets that can be used on virtually all forms of public transport within Warsaw.
Warsaw public transport is very cheap! Since I was unsure of the length of my journey, I bought a 75 minute ticket, which is valid for 75 minutes following first use, for 4.40 złoty, worth just under £1, around €1, US$1.19 or HK$9.30. And given the length of my stay (4 days/3 nights), I could have bought a 72 hour ticket for 36 zł, worth around £7.43, €8.33, US$9.77 or HK$76.70.
Warsaw Airport is served by 2 SKM lines, S2 and S3. I took the S2 train service operated by the SKM, served by a PESA ELF 27WE train. I sat down after validating my ticket by sticking it into one of the tiny yellow machines on the train. Afterwards, I stuck my action camera onto the window and recorded the entire 19 minute journey to Warsaw Ochota station, where I got off. I hope you enjoy the train footage!
My hotel was conveniently located right next to the station, so I was able to quickly check in, drop my stuff off and enjoy my first evening in Warsaw.

Celebrating Chopin in Warsaw
In this video clip, I blindsided my wonderful Warsaw guide, Monika, when I asked her to show off Warsaw’s love of Chopin. Imagine having your own charming local guide like this one to show you how the benches play Chopin in the parks.
Every year I have a tradition of signing up for a Rick Steves tour in Europe. We have 35 or so itineraries, and the choice can be tough. I’ll tell you, right now, after lots of time in Eastern Europe this summer, I am tempted to take our Best of Eastern Europe tour in 2015.

Visit to the Fryderyk Chopin Museum in Warsaw
Vlog #7 The brief summer escapade in Warsaw wrapped up several weeks ago and we still haven't organized much of our photos and videos. :) Too much procrastination is happening here! But need to shake it off as there are so many beautiful places to show to all of you during our short holiday in Warsaw.
I have been badgering my husband to visit the Chopin Museum. I am not a big fanatic of classical music but I love music nonetheless. I appreciate classical piano music and Chopin is one of the revered piano masters of all time. And to be able to know more of this great master's life and works is a dream come true.
The Fryderyk Chopin Museum in Warsaw, Poland was established in 1954. It is dedicated to the famous Polish musician, Fryderyk Chopin (Frederic Chopin). It is in the same area as the Fryderyk Chopin Institute. I think, plenty of pianists or people who loves his works, or simply enjoy the classics, will have a great time in this museum.
The museum is an interactive place. It has 4 floors with one floor solely for listening Chopin's oeuvre. The other floors consist of displays on the life and works of Chopin with some audio listening interaction in some booths.
The museum also consists of a shop right before the exit. Well, knowing me, I did find few trinkets that I liked like the magnets and key chains. I bought one music piece and pencil for a friend's kid who loves to play the piano and hopefully, he will find Chopin's works amazing.
We got lucky that day when we visited. I was ready to pay and surprise!!! It was WEDNESDAY FREE ENTRANCE (June 5) day. I am not sure if we just got lucky or they have a promo that day but yes, we entered for free. And I just found out recently too that it is advisable to buy your ticket in advance because they have a quota per day. When we visited the museum, I didn't know all of these info. We just thought we'd pay the ticket and go inside. So folks, better check their website for free day, when you can visit or when not. I will link their site below.
I love arts, music, and culture. So, if you will ask me if I had a good time in the museum, I DID and will encourage you to add this place in your bucket list if you haven't visited it yet. It is a nice learning experience, and listening to Chopin's works were one of the best highlights of the visit.

33+ Minutes Warsaw Chopin Airport Planespotting November 2019
After arriving in Poland having spent a short time in Ukraine, it was time to spend some time filming at Warsaw Chopin Airport.
I opted to try a different location for filming this time which offers a brilliant view for aircraft departing runway 29 and others landing on runway 33.
Given it was the last day of November the weather was absolutely beautiful, with virtually no wind and beautiful sunshine all-day, finished off with a beautiful sunset.
This is all of my footage filmed throughout Saturday, however, I still have much footage to share with you from the Sunday too. *All of this was filmed hand-held*.
Here is a list of every aircraft you see in this compilation.
