Today we visit tinuy-an falls in surigao del sur, also known as the niagara falls of the philippines.
You have to get a habal habal to tinuy-an falls as the road is very steep and is a gravel path not a real road. As you get to the entrance you will need to pay 50 php per person to enter.
Tinuy-an falls has 3 tiers that you can climb up to. Access to the other tiers is through man made stairs and walkway leading up the falls. The most impressive tier of the waterfall is the bottom level.
The bottom level of the falls is the most impressive and the biggest, it really does give you the feel of why its known for being the philippines niagara falls.
You can go for a swim in the waterfalls or opt to get a waterfall massage on a raft.
As you go up to the higher tiers of the falls you can get a guide for a small donation to lead you up.
tinuy-an falls is a hidden gem deep in mindanao and not one to be missed along with the enchanted river. The bislig area of surigao del sur is a great place to spend a few days with easy access to these 2 attractions.

Tinuy-an Falls is a waterfall in Bislig City, Surigao del Sur in the southern Philippine island of Mindanao.[1] It is the main tourist attraction in Bislig, a city known as the Booming city by the bay.
The falls is approximately 55 metres (180 ft) high, touted as the Niagara Falls of the Philippines, Tinuy-an is a white water curtain that flows in three levels. It is one of the best waterfalls in the entire Philippines because of its majestic and unique natural formation. Its colorful picture was once appeared in the International Travel Magazine.
Its magnificent cascades are found in Borboanan, Bislig City, a one hour ride from Mangagoy, center of trade and commerce in Bislig City. About 55 meters high and a breathtaking width of 95 meters, it is said to be the widest in the country. Centuries old amazing giant trees, ferns and vines in a thick rainforest envelop your ride through thick forested hills that enclose the falls. Islets are on the swimming ground, with slippery logs where you can cross for a good view, plus multi-layered stones as pathways. Every morning, the area is blessed with a sprinkle of a rainbow that appears between 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.
Tinuy-an Falls is located in a deep ravine in Barangay Borboanan, Bislig City. The falls plunges 55 metres (180 ft) high from the top of the three tiered cascading waterfalls.

Bislig is a city known as the Booming City by the Bay. The waterfall itself has been featured in various international travel magazines and TV shows.
The Tinuy-an falls are 95 m wide and 55 metres (180 ft) high, touted as the little Niagara Falls of the Philippines. Tinuy-an is a white water curtain that flows in three levels (with a fourth tier hidden from view) and is said to be the widest waterfall in the Philippines.
Every morning, the area shows a rainbow between 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. One may also ride a raft to get close to its cascades and get a water “massage.”
Tinuy-an Falls is a co-management effort between the tourism office of Bislig and the Manobo Tribal Council.

Situated po ang falls na ito sa Barangay Burboanan, approximately mga 18 kilometers galing sa city proper ng Bislig, Surigao Del Sur. Ang falls na ito ay isang three-tiered waterfalls na may taas na 55 meters. Isa ito sa mga pinakalawak na waterfalls sa Pilipinas na may sukat na 95 meters, at dahil dito tinawag ito na “Niagara Falls ng Philippines”.
Kagaya ng ibang mga waterfalls sa bansa, meron itong natural pools na puede tayo dun maligo at magrelax sa ganda ng view. Ang natural pool ng pangalwang waterfalls which is yung pinakamataas sa tatlong layers ay ang pinakamalaki sa lahat. Kailangang sumakay sa bamboo rafts para mapuntahan ang base ng falls at mamassage sa pagbagsak ng tubig.
Maari din po nating puntahan ang pangatlong layer which is yung pinakamataas gamit ang paved stairways sa side. Meron naman pong mga guide dun na magagabay sa atin pagakyat. Meron din po dung mga natural pool na puede rin liguan.
Nasaksihan rin namin ang rainbow na makikita sa waterfalls between 9AM to 11AM. Resulta ito ng repleksyon ng pagtama ng sunlight sa mga mist which creates a very defined rainbow.

ito po yung sinakyan namn papuntang Butuan. Non-Aircon po ito. Ang pamasahe ay P194.00 and for mrore information about the schedule click the link below. travel time is 3 to 4 hours.
So andito po tayo sa Butuan Bus Terminal. Ito po ung bus na sasakyan natin papuntang Hinatuan going to Mangagoy. P197 lamang po ang pamasahe and ang travel time is 5 to 7 hours na sa sorbrang tagal po ay nakakaubo ng playlist.
Good morning Guys! so sa tinagal ng byahe namin kahapon, gabi na kami nung nakacheckin sa dito sa aming accomodation. Price ng room namin ay P600.00 with aircon and P300.00 for extra bed. So simulan na natin ang paglalakbay.
so guys, nirentahan po namin itong habal habal for P1400.00 good for one day na po and inclusive of gas na din po. 2 places ang aming bibisitahin ngayon at ito ang tinuy-an falls and Enhcnated River. Travel time from James Pension to Tinuy-an falls ay around 1 to 2 hours.

Last Saturday, January 11, 2014, we rented a van and went from Surigao City to Bislig City of Surigao del Sur. It was pouring cats and dogs that day and clearly we were not letting the weather cancel our long-planned trip. Only crazy local tourists like us would brave the trough of the Low Pressure Area (LPA) just to see this falls. And as a result, we witnessed this - a ROARing Tinuy-an Falls ^_^

We only live once, so don't miss any opportunity to travel a lot and explore some natures' promising wonders... I could sit here for an hour or 2 without getting tired while reminiscing life....You're lucky if you travel there with a lot of water pouring down your spine. Travelling here in private/rented car with some companions with you would be better. In one day you could travel this falls and the Enchanted River.
