Ljubljana is the capital of Slovenia and instantly on our must travel list! You really need to visit this place and explore the city.
Fortunately, finding things to do in Ljubljana is easy because of how walkable the center is. The Ljubljana Castle on the hill over looks the old town centre and the Tivoli Park is right next door as well.
The main attractions are so close to each other it makes a day of walking around and looking for what to do quite easy, in fact we spent an entire day on foot and ticked off most of the top things to do quite easily.
Best advice we had was to travel up the funicular towards the Ljubljana castle about 7pm so we could catch sunset over the old town - worth it!

TIVOLI Park Ljubljana - SLOVENIA #1
Tivoli Park is Ljubljana's largest and most beautiful park, stretching right into the city centre. It was designed in 1813 by the French engineer Jean Blanchard and created by joining together the parks which had surrounded Podturn and Cekin Mansions. The park, covering an area of approximately five square kilometres, is crossed by three grand horse chestnut tree-lined walks and landscaped with ornamental flower beds, interesting trees and numerous statues and fountains. The park area blends into the slopes of the Rožnik hill, to which it is connected by several walking paths and a trim trail with several exercise stations along its length.
Ljubljana In Your Pocket - Tivoli Park
Tivoli is where the people of Ljubljana who dont leave the city spend the weekend. Laid out in 1813 as a place for the general health and recreation of the citys population, at some five square kilometres, Ljubljanas gargantuan bucolic lung - literally two streets west of the city centre - is so packed with good things to see and do that its almost worth visiting the Slovenian capital just to come here.
Set amidst rolling hills, Tivoli Park is a pleasant mixture of lawns (picnics encouraged: something of a shock in this part of the world), pastures, wooded areas and fun adventure playgrounds for the kids (who will love the mini-golf best of all). The best way to enjoy the park is by bike, and bicycles are available for rent from various points throughout the park during the summer. You will need to leave ID as a guarantee you will bring the bike back.
As well as its reputation as the top nature spot in the area, Tivoli Park also houses a number of cultural sights including the International Centre of Graphic Arts in the glorious 17th century Tivolski Grad (Tivoli Mansion), the Museum of Modern History and, in the parks far southwestern reaches, in an area designated as a nature reserve, the citys half-decent zoo. Also look out for the monument to Primoz Trubar at the entrance to the park. Truboz was an early force in Slovene literature and the creation of a Slovene national identity.

Slovenia 2018 - E5 - Tivoli Park & Ljubljana Castle
I'm up early to make the most out of my final day in Slovenia, heading first of all to Tivoli Park, a beautiful area with lakes and gardens. It's part of the larger Rožnik Hill covered by dense forest and hiking trails - a perfect spot to fly the drone from.
Back in the city centre it's on to the 900 year old Ljubljana Castle which is home to an exhibition of Slovenian history and a renovated watch tower offering spectacular views over the city and surrounding areas.

The wildlife in Slovenia's capital was incredibly tame, especially if you had a few nuts! Vicky's brother Ali got within half a meter of a Black Squirrel and his friend Tom fed more birds than everyone put together!

Tivoli Park is a Ljubljanas largest Park on the edge of the City Centre. This is where People who stay in the City in the Afternoons and Weekends meet. In Summer they rest on Blankets in the Shade of Trees, they organize various Activities such as Rope walking among the Trees, Yoga and more, in the Winter the Children sledge here.
Besides the Visit of the International Centre of graphic Art and the National Museum of contemporary History, everything that the Park is offering is for free.
Throughout the whole Year various Events take place in Tivoli Park, such as musical Events, Events for Children and Families, health Events or sporting Evevnts.

Eating the Hot Horse Burger in Tivoli Park: Ljubljana, Slovenia.
On this week's episode, Brent heads to Hot Horse restaurant in Ljubljana's Tivoli Park, to try the infamous horse burger! Horse is considered a delicacy in Slovenia, and many other parts of Europe., but eaten it in the USA is generally frowned upon. Even though I'm a love of all equines, I just had to dabble in this interesting cultural dish! This was my first (and probably last) time trying horse. Have you eaten horse before? What did you think?
