Togakushi Shrine (Giant Cedar Trees) Nagano, Japan Part 4
#happylogrono #nagano #togakushishrine #Japan #nature
A visit to a National Park is a must when we travel. Today, we trekked the Togakushi Shrine in the forested mountains of Myoko-Togakushi renzan National Park. Chilly and slippery conditions along our way took us 2 hrs to reach the upper shrine which spectacularly stands in the steep mountainside of Mt. Togakushi. The long row of Japanese cedar trees leading to the approach of the upper shrine is simply overwhelming.
Before leaving Togakushi which is known as the birthplace of Soba, we enjoyed another soba noodles to fill us up.

Nagano Togakushi-Hokosha - 宝光社 - 4K Ultra HD
Nagano Togakushi-Hokosha- 宝光社 - 4K Ultra HD : The Togakushi-Hōkōsha (宝光社) shrine is the second of the three major Togakushi shrines and is located rather close to the the main shrine the Togakushi-Chūsha (中社). Just slightly smaller than its bigger brother, this shrine is only accessible by a long and difficult set of stairs that will quickly do its best to make your journey more difficult in winter. I am not ashamed to admit that I slipped several times on my way down and had to finish my journey on my “lower back” to avoid any injuries.
Despite being small, Togakushi-Hōkōsha, is a gorgeous shrine with wonderful wood carvings that are a treat for our eyes. Add to that beauty the mystical silence of a snowy day and you have all the ingredients for a truly amazing experience.

Walking around Nozawa Onsen Village, Nagano, Japan Last Part
#happylogrono #nozawaonsen #nagano #Japan
For our last day in Nagano, we went for a half day trip in Nozawa Onsen. The ski resorts are closed in the area due to insufficient snow so we just walked around the traditional Japanese town and soaked to one of the 13 free public onsen throughout the village. We ended our day eating dinner in Ramen Street of Tokyo.
We are so sad to leave Nagano. We've gained another experience and good memories on this trip. Our heart is full hearing a lot of I love U's, Thank U's and I love our family.
Dad and Mom: But beside these words, the special part of this travel is their transformation. A more responsible traveller looking after each other, willing to learn and try new things.

Nagano Zuishinmon Gate - 随神門 - 4K Ultra HD
Nagano Zuishinmon Gate - 随神門 - 4K Ultra HD : Our last video on the Togakushi shrine will be dedicated to not a shrine itself but to one of its gates, the famous Zuishinmon Gate (随神門). Zuishinmon Gate is in fact part of the Togakushi-Okusha (奥社) located far off in the Togakushi village forest, and rather difficult to access, especially in winter. In fact, the Togakushi-Okusha (奥社) is actually the least attractive shrine of the three, due to its concrete modern construction and its many surrounding restaurants.
However the path to access this temple is one of the most gorgeous you can enjoy in Japan in winter with a several-kilometer long pathway surrounded by over 300 majestic old Cryptomeria trees. Halfway along you will find the splendid red Zuishinmon Gate (随神門) which has, once covered by snow, a true beauty of its own.

Shinanomachi Town (Lake Nojiri) Nagano, Japan Part 2

We’re expecting to see snow around middle of December 2019 but in rare circumstances this year, it seems that some snow will fall coming later a few days. However, the weather was wonderful for the reason that the sun was shining and it was just right for the cold to touch our skin. Letting the sun's rays enhanced the color of the lake and the scenery so that we could witness the full beauty of the surroundings.

Azumino (Wasabi Farm), Matsumoto and Tokyo Japan Part 3
#happylogrono #nagano #daiowasabi #yayoikusama #kusama #japan #tokyo
Came home a bit late this day after an interesting and busy day in the city of Azumino and Matsumoto. From the foothills of the nearby Japanese Alps, we roamed around the Daio Wasabi Farm. Ate the renowned buckwheat soba noodles, sashimi horse meat and wasabi ice cream.
In the afternoon, we went to Matsumoto Art Museum. We're amazed with the permanent art collection of Yayoi Kusama, an Avant-garde artist. Lastly, we didn't miss the Ishii Miso Brewery. It was founded in 1868 and what makes it so special is that it is a now rare example of miso maker that still uses traditional methods to produce their miso for local consumption.
On the next day, it's a rainy day for Nagano, so we changed our plan of spending our day in Tokyo. Once arrived, we headed to Tsukiji Outer Market and tasted some of their local food. Afterwards, we searched for the Tokyo St Mary's Cathedral. Spent most of our afternoon here with thanksgiving and prayers for the family.
While waiting for our scheduled departure for Nagano, we brought the kids to Character Street at the basement of Tokyo Station and this made their day.

The most beautiful winery in NAGANO PREFECTURE!
On the last day in Nagano Prefecture we started the day with a delicious buffet breakfast with an amazing panoramic view at Hotel JAL City. We then headed up to the breathtaking St. Cousair Winery nestled in the mountainous Kamiminochi District in Izzuna, Nagano. The view from there was mindblowing, even at -11 degrees! We finished off the trip with a famous Ekiben from Nagano Station!
