Tonle Sap -The Flowing Heart Of Cambodia. This video clip is dedicated to a friend, a Tuk Tuk driver who works with Sofitel Hotel, Siem Reap and his nick name is Mr T or you may also refer to his Tuk Tuk vehicle which is number 4. In the beginning of this video, he took me through a village and I tried to capture every moment and later on a river cruise heading to Tonle Sap whcih I went alone. I guess time was on my side and I managed to capture some great moments. Most of the people living on the boats are Vietnamese. Enjoy the touching moments !

Chong Khneas Floating Village - Tonle Sap - Cambodia by Drone
Chong Khneas is a floating village near Siem Reap Cambodia. This is the fly over drone footage. review coming soon.
The village was originally formed by foreign fishermen who were unable to buy land.
It has now become a tourist trap and unscrupulous tour operators will gouge you for extra money.
guide books will recommend visiting the other floating villages a bit further south for a better experience.
Kampong Phluk and Kampong Khleang are a better choice.

Cruising on Tonle Sap and Mekong rivers| Happy boat party, Phnom Penh, Cambodia 2019
A boat trip is an excellent way to get a way from the busy and noisy streets of Phnom Penh and just enjoy a relaxing afternoon and sunset on Tonle Sap and Mekong River. A boat cruise typically takes about 1 – 2 hours and runs up the Tonle Sap River along the central riverfront area providing a photographic view of the Royal Palace and Phnom Penh skyline. The cruise continues across the Tonle Sap and up the Mekong River which will give you a sense of the country side close to Phnom Penh.
You can also turn the boat trip into a party either by asking the boat owner to arrange food, drinks and music or you bring it yourself. If you are bringing your own music don’t forget to ask the boat owner in what format you need to bring it in.
Short river cruises and sunset cruises are easy to arrange, the tourist boats are clustered together on the river along Sisowath Quay (Riverside) on the corner of street 118 . The price of the boat tour depend on the duration of the trip and the size of boats and not the number of the passengers. Small boat ( up to 20 passengers) cost about 15$/h , medium size (up to 30 passengers) about 20$/h, large size (up to 40 passengers) about 25$/h.

Cambodia: Siem Reap - The Tonle Sap Lake Cruise and the Floating Villages
A short film that was shot during my recent trip to Siem Reap in Cambodia. In this short 3-minute film, I take you on a short trip down the Mekong through the flooded forest and the floating villages to the Tonle Sap lake.
This was shot entirely handheld using a DJI Osmo X3.
In November 2017, I took a short break to travel up to Siem Reap in Cambodia. I had heard that the Sonle Tap Cruise on the Mekong was one of the things to do. After landing in Siem Reap and checking into the hotel, I made my way to the boats. I paid the US$26 to get my ticket, expecting that I would share a seat with several other people on a boat. I discovered that the $26 got me the whole boat and driver to myself! My pilot was a young Khmer woman with her child, who was taking in his surroundings like it was another day in life.
The weather on the day was somewhat inclement. It was sunny at the time that I boarded.
This is a true Asian experience. The boat would seat 12 people comfortably. There were a couple of life vests on the seats that probably wouldn’t offer much safety in the event of the boat capsizing. The seats were wet (fortunately, I was carrying a towel with me and wiped them down).
We made our 30 minute ride to the launch point for the flooded forest and the floating village. We passed several boats along the way, and were in turn, passed by several other. As we arrived at the launch point, the heavens opened up and it bucketed down. Traffic came to a halt on the river as we waited for the storm to pass. 20 minutes later, it was business as usual.
I met a young American woman, Ashley, and we shared a small boat that took us through the flooded forest and the floating village. The weather had cleared for the time, though it did drizzle very lightly as we gently cruised through the forest. As we made our way back to the launch point, I boarded my boat that took me further out to the Sonle Tap lake. I made it there at sunset. After briefly circling a few boats there, we turned to head back.
Another storm approached. The sun had set at this stage and it was beginning to get dark fast. My pilot lifted her child and placed him on one of the seats. She didn’t bother putting a life jacket on him. She pulled the side tarps down to shield us from the weather as the rain began to get heavier.
Very soon, it was pouring. The tarps didn’t do much in the way of shield us from getting wet.
As we made our way further along the river, I realized that my boat did not have any lights, and very soon, it was pitch dark. The only light came from the occasional lightning bolt, and other boats that passed us by. My pilot found her spot behind one of the other boats that had lights, and followed it, getting us safely back to where we started from.
In spite of what may have seemed like a hair raising experience, I was surprisingly calm throughout my boat ride. I was completely soaked when I disembarked from my boat, but completely relaxed with a great sense of calm within me.
Every time I visit remote parts of Asia, it gives me a great sense of gratitude for the things that I have in life.

TONLE SAP - Siem Reap - Cambodia Travel Vlog
Siem Reap, Cambodia was one of our favourite places we've been so far. On our first day we took a boat ride to Tonle Sap - the largest lake in south east asia. We took a river boat out there to see the water villages and learned all about the lake and the people who live there.

Tonlè Sap, Siem Reap, Cambodia
We visited the Floating Village at Tonlé Sap, Siem Reap, Cambodia. Tonlé Sap is the largest freshwater lake in Southeast Asia. It was designated a UNESCO biosphere reserve in 1997. In the Khmer language Sap means “lake.” Flooding Cycle of Tonle Sap: During the rainy season, from June to November the Mekong River reverses its flow into the lake causing it to expand to more than six or seven times its normal size of approximately 2,600 square kilometers. It becomes a vast inland sea. In June, with monsoon rains swelling the Mekong, excess water is pushed into the Tonle Sap that then drains back upstream into the lake, flooding the surrounding low plains. By monsoon's end, in November, the pressure is relieved and the Tonle Sap reverses course and returns to the direction of flow expected of it. However, the waters take several more months before they begin to recede, and it is not until February that Tonle Sap Lake begins its return to normal size.

Siem reap angkor attraction | Tonle Sap Lake Tour Boat famous attraction in Siem Reap.
Tonlé Sap (Khmer: ទន្លេសាប IPA: [tunleː saːp], literally large river (tonle); fresh, not salty (sap), commonly translated to Great Lake) refers to a seasonally inundated freshwater lake, the Tonlé Sap Lake and an attached river, the 120 km (75 mi) long Tonlé Sap River, that connects the lake to the Mekong. They form the central part of a complex hydrological system, situated in the 12,876 km2(4,971 sq mi) Cambodian floodplain covered with a mosaic of natural and agricultural habitats that the Mekong replenishes with water and sediments annually. The central plain formation is the result of millions of years of Mekong alluvial deposition and discharge. From a geological perspective, the Tonlé Sap Lake and Tonlé Sap River are a current freeze-frame representation of the slowly, but ever shifting Lower Mekong Basin. Annual fluctuation of the Mekong's water volume, supplemented by the Asian Monsoon regime causes the unique flow reversal of the Tonle Sap River.[1]More info:

Tonle Sap Cruise (HD)
Tonle Sap Cruise (HD)
Tonle Sap is the largest fresh water lake in Southeast Asia. As a part of the Cambodian flood plane, it provides a livelihood for a huge number of people. I arranged a trip across the lake from Siem Reap to Battambang in order to get an up-close experience of the culture that has existed onn the waters of this lake for more than a thousand years.
It's possible to drive between the two cities in just over 3 hours, making the nine hour boat trip a less convenient way to travel, but I highly recommend taking the boat at least one way. You won't regret it!
