MUST SEE Madrid, Spain - Things to do ON A BUDGET in ONE DAY!! (Travel Spain 2019)
We had a 12hours layover in Madrid Spain so We decided to make the best out of our time to travel and explore Madrid for a few hours on a Budget.
Madrid has a lot to offer, it was actually really easy to get a bus from the airport for only 5 Euros that took us to the city center. It is an amazing place to go for a walk. The architecture is incredible with old buildings.
You will definitely find lots of Museums, Parks, Bar, Shops, Restaurants, Markets and much more.
So first we decided to go to The Puerta del Sol that is a public square in Madrid, one of the best known and busiest places in the city. This is the center of the radial network of Spanish roads. The square also contains the famous clock whose bells mark the traditional eating of the Twelve Grapes and the beginning of a new year.
After that we walked for around 5 minutes longer to get to the Plaza Mayor, a major public space in the heart of Madrid, the capital of Spain. It was once the center of Old Madrid. The Plaza Mayor dates back to the 15th century where it was originally called the Plaza del Arrabal and was used as the main market of the town.
Leaving Plaza Mayor we had a quick stop to try the amazing calamari sandwich that is a traditional Spanish food, very well known in Madrid. And after that a quick visit to the Mercado de San Miguel. This is one of Madrid’s oldest and most beautiful markets, within early-20th-century glass walls and an inviting space strewn with tables. You can order tapas and sometimes more substantial plates at most of the counter bars, and everything here (from caviar to chocolate) is as tempting as the market is alive.
And to finish our time in Madrid we went for a drink in one of the best bars of Madrid. The La Azotea rooftop terrace Bar, for sure one of the most famous places to enjoy the views of Madrid, to relax and have a drink. We paid only 5 Euros to get in.
So now is time to get back to the airport and continue our adventure to Brazil, you can keep watching the vlog here:

Madrid, Spain is an AMAZING city!!! We had an overnight layover on our return flight to the States from Croatia and decided not to spend our time in a hotel by the airport. Instead, we hopped in the airport shuttle bus to central Madrid and enjoyed all it had to offer in the short time we could see it.
For those wondering if Madrid is worth it, we would definitely say it is. We stayed in the central part of town, which allowed us to travel by foot throughout the city. We were able to see the Royal Palace, the Mercado de San Miguel, the Plaza Mayor, the Puerta del Sol, and walk the Calle de Preciados, which is so much fun at night.
You should definitely travel to Madrid and spend some time there when you are vacationing in Spain. Even if it's just one day. You'll love it!!!

All the essential MADRID TRAVEL information in one video, where you discover the BEST THINGS TO DO IN MADRID.
Madrid -capital of Spain- is rich in monuments and landmarks.
In this video we present our selection of the more interesting and important places to see in Madrid.
Nº 10.- TEMPLE OF DEBOD
The Temple of Debod is the oldest building in Madrid, although it was not built in our city but in ancient Nubia, in southern Egypt, more than 2.200 years ago.
Also from the Temple of Debod you may find some of the best sunsets ever!
Nº 9.- PLAZA DE LA VILLA
In the Plaza de la Villa is the oldest civil building built in Madrid, it is the Tower and House of the Lujanes, a palace house of the XV century, Gothic-Mudejar style.
There are also two other emblematic buildings: the Casa de Cisneros, a Renaissance palace from the XVI century, and the Casa de la Villa, a baroque palace from the XVII century.
Nº 8.- PUERTA DE ALCALÁ
The ‘Puerta de Alcalá’ is one of the most popular symbols of Madrid. In addition to the monumental function, it served as gateway to the city until just a century and a half ago.
It is the first arch of triumph built in Europe, after the fall of the Roman Empire.
In neoclassical style, it was built in the XVIII century by direct commission of Carlos III.
Nº 7.- GREAT WAY (GRAN VÍA)
The ‘Gran Vía’ is one of the most emblematic streets of Madrid.
Started in 1910, it was settled, The ‘Great Way’ is the main artery of the heart of Madrid. It has many iconic buildings: Metropolis, Telefónica, Capitol and so on.
Nº 6.- CIBELES
The Plaza de Cibeles is one of the most well-known squares in Spain. It is currently located in the Palacio de Comunicaciones - ‘The Palace of Communications’, a beautiful eclectic building from the beginning of the 20th century. Current City hall.
In the center of the square is the famous Fuente de Cibeles ‘Cibeles Fountain’, which is the first of the five mythological fountains that form the Prado Hall, commissioned by Carlos III.
Nº 5.- PLAZA MAYOR (MAYOR SQUARE OF MADRID)
The Plaza Mayor of Madrid suffered 3 frightful fires, in the last of them only the ‘House of Bakery’ was saved, which served as a model for the reconstruction of the square.
The Plaza Mayor of Madrid during 2017 commemorates its IV Centenary, being in 1617 when it began to build, 400 years ago.
Nº 4.- PUERTA DEL SOL (GATE OF THE SUN)
The Puerta del Sol is the heart of Madrid. Social meeting point in which life flows at any time of day or night.
From its beginnings in century XV, in this place have been directed some of the most important events of the history and the Spanish life.
This statue, the Statue of the Bear and the Madroño is famous for alluding to the official shield of the city of Madrid.
Also In Puerta del Sol we find the ‘Real Casa de Correos’ royal house of mail, where the locals meet to hear the chimes every new year.
Nº 3.- PALACIO REAL (ROYAL PALACE DE MADRID)
The Royal Palace and its surroundings are one of the must-see in Madrid.
The majestic building that we can contemplate today, dates from the middle of the XVIII century.
The neoclassical style clearly shows the taste for geometric and proportionate forms, typical of the architecture of enlightened despotism.
It is one of the largest palaces in the world.
It is currently open to the public as a museum.
It is surrounded by beautiful gardens (Campo de Moro, Sabatini Gardens and Gardens of the Plaza de Oriente).
From its surroundings we can enjoy spectacular sunsets.
Nº 2.- RETIRO PARK
Parque del Retiro is one of the most pleasant urban parks in the world.
It is ideal for pleasant walks, sunbathing and even paddling in the center of the city.
This park had its origin in the seventeenth century, as the second residence and place of rest Of King Philip IV. Places of recreation as peculiar as the Grand Lake of Retiro are iconic.
In this park we find other monuments whose visit is essential, such as the Crystal Palace or the curious Fountain of the Fallen Angel.
Before unveiling the number one, we offer three special mentions:
Santiago Bernabéu Stadium
Monumental Plaza Las Ventas
Basilica of San Francisco el Grande
Nº 1.- THE WALK OF ART
‘The Paseo del Arte’ brings together the masterpieces of the most important paintings in the world collected in the Prado Museum, the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum and the National Museum of Art Reina Sofía.

10 Things to do in Madrid, Spain Travel Guide Video Transcript:
Greetings from Madrid, Spain. Hello hello. And this is a city we visited 2.5 years ago in the summer. We're back with my parents this time and we're going to be here for just a few days making a little travel guide and we hope you guys will join along. This one is going to be a little bit different because last time we were in Madrid we ran around like crazy. We're going to take it easy focus on the highlights. Focus on food. Delicious Spanish food. We hope you guys will enjoy our little tour of Madrid.
The armoury turned out to be a real highlight with weapons and armour dating back from the 16th and 17th centuries.
We caught a glimpse at the Almudena Cathedral and continued towards the Sabatini Gardens, which are located directly behind the palace.
After lunch, we visited the Temple of Debod. This is ancient Egyptian temple that was given to Spain as a sign of gratitude for their help in saving the Abu Simbel temples. It dates back to the 2nd century BC and it’s one of the few works of ancient Egyptian architecture that can be seen outside of Egypt.
Plaza Mayor is the main square in Madrid. It is lined with shops and cafes under its porticoes. It was just a skip over to one of the most popular food markets with visitors.
Buen Retiro is a large park located at the edge of the city centre. It belonged to the Spanish Monarchy until the late 19th century, when it became a public park, and it’s home to various gardens, sculptures, monuments and small palaces
One of the most iconic buildings found within the park is the Crystal Palace, made of glass and iron, which is used for art exhibits throughout the year.
This cafe will make you feel like you’ve been transported back to the late nineteenth century. The walls are covered in mirrors and wood panelling, the tables are of white marble, the chairs and banquettes are deep green in colour.
Last but not least, we finished off our visit with an evening stroll through Madrid, and that pretty much wraps our trip! The city clearly has much more to offer than we were able to cover in just 3 days, but we hope this Madrid travel guide gave you a few ideas of what you can do with a short break in the city. Wishing you happy travels and we’ll see you in the next video as we continue our travels through Spain!
This is part of our Travel in Spain video series showcasing Spanish food, Spanish culture and Spanish cuisine.

5 Top-Rated Day Trips from Seville, Europe
In the heart of Andalusia, Seville is surrounded by enchanting sights. This alluring region has a special magic, formed from layer upon layer of history and elegant edifices built over the centuries. Exquisite cathedrals, old mosques, and former synagogues reflect the region's fascinating multicultural heritage. Today, Catholicism is the dominant religion, and the Semana Santa (Holy Week) is celebrated here extravagantly. Flamboyant processions of saintly icons are accompanied by marching bands or evocative flamenco songs (saeta). Besides flamenco and festivals, the region is also known for its slow-paced lifestyle. During the sultry summer months, the locals take naps in the afternoon and go for strolls on the balmy evenings. Tourists become immersed in this delightful ambience by ambling through quaint cobblestone streets and basking at the sunny terraces of outdoor cafés, in between the dazzling sightseeing. here five day trips from seville, spain

Toledo Spain Vlog 2019 ~ Day trips from Madrid
Are you looking for ideas for day trips from Madrid? In this video I share why Toledo is well worth the trip and what to do. Subscribe for more laid-back luxury #travel and inspiring travel vlogs:
Spain is one of favorite places in the world and I’m a big believer in getting outside of the major cities and seeing all the country has to offer. The day trip to Toledo from Madrid is great because it’s only a 50-minute ride by bus for only 5 Euros! I recommend staying at least one night, but if you only have a day, this Toledo Spain vlog shows what you should see. From the San Martin Bridge to a gorgeous view of Toledo from the highest point, I even go on a private walking tour that avoids Toledo tourism spots. If you’re looking for an up to date Spain Travel vlog 2019, I hope you enjoy this video! Being an over 40 travel vlogger is so much fun and I hope you benefit from my experience and shenanigans. :) Keep watching to see an American tourist in Spain!

Toledo: Day Trip from Madrid, Spain | Travel Vlog | Shot On Go Pro
“You’ve not experienced Spain until you’ve been to Toledo”
So there we were, concluding the first season of #TheDayTripShow by taking a day trip from Madrid to Toledo, Spain which is just one hour by train.
After reaching the medieval Spanish city, we opted to walk around Toledo’s streets to get a better experience of this trip. We took a tour of Toledo by walking around the various corners, passing the Toledo Cathedral, exploring various instagrammable spots in this beautiful Spanish town!
We also found out that Toledo is known for making swords since the time of the Roman Empire and even now for films like Gladiator, Game of Thrones and Harry Potter wands.
Did we enjoy it? Watch to find out.

Toledo Spain - A Must See Town and Perfect Day Trip From Madrid | 90+ Countries w/3 Kids
Join us for a tour of Toledo one of the most visited places in all of Spain!
We were completely amazed. Walking through the streets of this city made us feel that we had gone back to the Middle Ages when Toledo was the capital of Spain. It was one of the most important centres in Europe from the Gothic epoch until 1560 and its buildings stand tall to witness this period in time.
The architecture is really impressive with the main sights being the large fortress (alcázar) built by the monarchs, the vast and richly decorated cathedral, and the impressive archdiocesan palace built by the prelates of Toledo, primates of the Spanish church.
However, apart from the stunning infrastructure we also realized that there are so many souvenir shops in the city that also express the culture and identity of Toledo. They are filled with beautiful handmade products.
The city is surrounded by the River Tajo on three sides and two medieval walls on the fourth side.
Enjoy the video and let us know where you are watching from.
