Good course but a bit rough to ride on:)
$40/cart, I got a $16 hot deal
A: not the first course that I have played with incomplete cart-paths. I've seen it on $15 city munis...I've seen it on $125 wanna-be country-clubs. Get over it.
B: yes the fairway cut was a bit long here but on the other hand there were very few bare spots. Greens likewise a bit long but again almost all well-grassed if a bit slow. The greens were fast enough with decent action without being so fast as to require a masterful touch around the greens which is a big reason why I 2-putted all the holes. Wasn't quite aggressive enpugh but I never had more than a tap-in for my 2nd putt.
The course is largely about getting on the green. If you need close-cut flat fairways to hit decent approaches, this is not that course. But they weren't cut long, either. Some fairways tight some loose so every now and then you could play back to your fairway. Enough hazards and waste to keep players honest, several elevated greens, vertical approaches and sloped fairways to challenge more advanced players. It was just basically a good well-balanced course that did not need to be long to be tough. And much of the course was visually impressive....and as far as noise and distractions they were almost nonexistent. A good clubhouse, nice front deck overlooking the course...virtually nobody there...
It could not be more different than a DC metro course, without a beach. It was wonderful.

During my trip to Lake Placid I spent 2 nights at the beautiful Mirror Lake Inn Resort & Spa.
The hotel is one of the best I've ever stayed at here in North America and it's definitely somewhere you're going to want to check out if you're looking for premium accommodation in Lake Placid.
We had a wonderful room on the top floor of one of the main buildings with an incredible view of Mirror Lake and the surrounding Adirondack mountain range.
From the hotel it's just a short 5 minute walk into the business district of Lake Placid and in under 30 minutes you can easily reach anything you would want to do in the area from Olympic attractions to hiking trails and everything else.
In the summer the area can be quite busy so fall and winter make for the best time to visit Lake Placid if you’re looking for a quieter and more peaceful getaway.
Although there is a lot of accommodation and other hotels in Lake Placid you would be hard-pressed to find something better equipped for short-term stays than the Mirror Lake Inn.
