A Tiger Crossing the road in Anaimalai Tiger Reserve
This video was shot on 09-Mar-2014, around 11 AM in Anaimalai Tiger Reserve, while coming back from Parambikulam to Top Slip in a Safari ride. It is a very dense forest covering approximately 900 sq.km area, having more than 30 tigers. We have seen 1 tiger and lot of other animals during our Safari Ride.

#Parambikulam_Tiger_Reserve is in #Palakkad District, Kerala State but we have to reach there Thru #Pollachi district, Tamilnadu state. we have to enter from #Sethumadai #Aanamalai_Tiger_Reserve between 7am and 4pm. 30 kms from sethumadai to parambikulam via #Topslip_Forest. we can see Lots of Wild animals and a hill range with beautiful scenery.After reaching parambikulam we can have 3 hrs Jungle Safari arranged in their vehicles. for more details see video...

Parambikulam Tiger Reserve, which also includes the erstwhile Parambikulam Wildlife Sanctuary, is a 391 square kilometres protected area in Chittur taluk in Palakkad district of Kerala state, South India.

Parambikulam Dam is an embankment dam on the Parambikulam River, Parambikulam located in the Palakkad district in the Western Ghats of Kerala, India,
ranks number one in India as well as in the top ten embankment dams in the world in volume in the year 2000.
This Dam was built at the time of Kamarajar. The dam is operated and maintained by Tamil Nadu but the ownership rests with Kerala,
Per the agreement with Tamil Nadu, Kerala was supposed to receive 7.25 TMC feet of water per year from the Parambikulam Aliyar Project of which the Parambikulam Dam is a part.
In 2004, Kerala did not receive any water after February 10, resulting in the drying up of paddy in thousands of acres in Chittur taluk.
Since this agreement has still not been met as of July 2006, Kerala Water Resources Minister has called for a review of the project agreement.
On 17 October 2012, Kerala and Tamil Nadu reached an accord on Parambikulam-Aliyar water.
Thunakkadavu Dam
Thunakkadavu Dam is situated in Parambikulam Wildlife Sanctuary, Kerala across Thunacadavu River, which is a tributary of Parambikulam River,
in Palakkad district of Kerala, India. It is part of the Parambikulam Aliyar Project.This is a small balancing Reservoir with gross capacity is 557 Mcft.
The water that is received from Prambikulam Reservoir and from the Peruvaripallam Reservoir, as well as from its own catchment,
is diverted to the Sarkarpathy Power House through the Sarkarpathy Power Tunnel.
Kannimara Teak
Kannimara Teak Tree is one of the world’s largest living Trek tree found in Parambikulam Tiger Reserve, with an amazing height of 39.98 m, girth pf 7.15 m (at breast height) and aged 465 years approximately.
The tree has been awarded (Mahaviriksha Puraskar) by the Government of India during 1944-95.
According to the local tribal belief, when this tree was tried to cut down, blood spurted out from the place where it was cut. Since then, this tree was worshipped by the local tribals in Parambikulam as Virgin Tree. Thus the name Kannimara is given as he word Kanni means Virgin.

Parambikulam Tiger resrve is the second tiger reserve in Kerala after periyar tiger reserve. to Enter Parambikulam we have to enter through anamalai tiger reserve in Tamilnadu.
Sanchari Club is Travellers club Across Kerala. We were a team of 40 traveller travelling together for a NAture club program in Parambikulam which is a 2 day program. This video comprises of just Day 1 .Special Thanks to all Sanchari Team members for making this Trip successful.

Anamalai - Top Slip Wild life Museum
Checked out from Parambikulam & started to Anamalai Top Slip before going to Nelliampathi. For previous video in this series click the link.
Anamalai Tiger Reserve at Top Slip in Tamil is on the way to Parambikulam. T & Fro we need to pass by this location on our trip to Parambikulam. Under Tamil Nadu Forest Dept they conduct similar activities at Anamalai also just like Parambikulam. HEnce we stopped at the reception to know about the activities and we were keen in going to the elephant camp to see the famous Kumki Elephant Anamalai Kalim. Well it was already noon time and it was not the time to do elephant camp visits and no other rides were available. However we decided to see the wild life museum at Anamalai reception and it was amazingly wonderrful. Stuffed and other wild creatures kept in the spirit.. A small museum but superb views. After that we continued our trip after gathering information about Anamalai activities and visiting the museum to Nelliampathi after entering Keralam and the views from Kerala are stunning.
