I have spent the last decade living in Toronto and during these 10 years seen a lot of night clubs and bars come and go. It was very difficult to make a Top 20 list of my favorite establishments that I consider here to stay.
Toronto, Canada is massive and counts over 400 bars & nightclubs thus I recommend planning out your night carefully especially during the winter months and take an Uber or Lyft between the districts. The most prominent nightlife entertainment districts are King St West, Queen St West, Ossington and the Docks.
Start off you Toronto nightlife adventure with local food and drinks at one of the many social bars like the Rec Room and Tilt Arcade Bar at which you can play video game arcades while you can drink.

Munch on mindblasting food at Belfast Love, a popular social bar with beer tables and billiards. Alternatively, grab a fancy meal at Baro, an upscale restaurant serving incredible dishes, try ordering their 'Big Ass Steak' haha! If you are on a budget check out The Dime, all their dishes are served for $5 each and are quite delicious.
Amazing bars and nightclubs on King St include SPiN for cocktails and ping-pong, Everleigh, hookup bar The Citizen for its large dance floor, Maison, Thompson Rooftop and the giant nightclub Uniun for its fistpumpin' EDM.
Top of your nightlife at one of the high profile bars & nightclubs in the city like Rebel, Drake Hotel and CODA. Now on the downside, remember that the Toronto nightlife is short-lived with bars closing at 2:00am and clubs at 3:00am which could feel like a rushed evening.

Old Toronto Beer Tour
A look at one of the Beer Lovers' Tour Company's favourite tours --the Old Toronto Beer Tour. This is an all-day tour that explores the history of Toronto through the backdrop of the city's rich brewing heritage, both past and present.
Toronto Craft Beer: Where to drink craft beer in Toronto with David Ort
Find out where to drink beer in Toronto and great craft beer here:
David Ort, author of The Canadian Craft Beer Cookbook - which can be purchased here:
The craft beer scene in Toronto is growing rapidly with new small breweries popping up all the time. But craft beer in Toronto hasn't always been popular, who knows why we've been so content to drink generic flavoured brew but we didn't developed like a lot of other progressive cities in North America.
I love it as beer has been one of my newer fascinations traveling as it's about time Toronto started playing catch up. To learn more about my city I headed out with Dana from Well Preserved and David Ort from the Canadian Craft Beer Cookbook to find his top 3 picks for where to drink craft beer in Toronto.
Bar Volo
Once a casual Italian neighborhood joint, Bar Volo is now the place to go for high level craft beer with an extensive tap and bottle list. There is no table service, but when you get a beer from the bar it will be served perfectly from someone knowledgeable about craft beer. Unapologetic about its dedication to craft beer there isn't much food served but hey you can always drink your dinner.
3030 Dundas
Prohibition wasn't appealed in the Junction until about 20 years ago and it's interesting that there are now two local breweries in the neighborhood.
3030 Dundas is a bit of a hike if you live central or East like me but it's worth a trip. The space is quite unique, the front is a restaurant with interesting bites like pigtail torta whereas the back is a concert venue.
Bar Hop
A cozy neighborhood bar where beer nerds rejoice, the owner Rob has been involved in craft beer in Toronto long before it was cool. Bar Hop has extensive tap lists which feature some of Ontario's greatest craft beers but also have some world leaders. It is also one of the few places in Toronto that has a proper fridge for Belgium beers to be stored at 8-9C.
As a side note, get the garlic doughnuts which are fried to order with smoked maldon, bone marrow, aioli and parmesan -- you can thank me later.
Bars featured here include:
3030 Dundas West, Toronto Ontario
Bar Volo, 587 Yonge St, Toronto Ontario
Bar Hop, 391 King St West, Toronto Ontario

PLACES MENTIONED:
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Poutini's House of Poutine
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
The Works is great though there are over 9 different types of poutine available
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Kensington Market
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
A very diverse area with a ton of food options. Big on street art, vintage stores and street food places. Jumbo Empanadas is meant to be great. So is Seven Lives for fish tacos.
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Tim Horton's
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
There seemed to be a Tim Horton's in every corner! I went for a timbit (original glazed) with a signature black coffee. Great as an afternoon pick me up!
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Bar Hop
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Great selection of craft beers and whiskey. I went for the Old Fashioned (lovely) and the Tokyo Rose Saison beer. Though the sour ale was mega mega sour, it was still very good! They also serve food too.
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Cacao 70
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
If you love hot chocolate or chocolate in general, give this place a go. Though they offer a brunch menu, everybody seemed to go for the desserts, chocolate fondues and/or hot chocolate. I went for the Lazy Breakfast and there was a LOT of meat - particularly ham. They went ham for ham. har har har. Kinda wish I had more chocolate things instead, d'oh.
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Distillery District
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
We didn't explore too much of the area but it seemed to be a great place for restaurants, bars and boutique shops. Can imagine it's extra magical at night and when the Christmas lights are up
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Dumpling House
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Standard dumplings offered boiled or fried. There's a lot of different types to choose from and the prices were reasonable. It isn't mind-blowing but it tastes like the kind of dumplings you grew up having at home. Comforting, nostalgic and a great option for when it's super cold outside. Next time, I want to try the fried option! I'd recommend the pork and chive over the ones we had.
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Juicy Dumpling
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
I was a BIG fan of Juicy Dumpling considering how great value it is. They also offer the soup dumplings fried but I zoned in on the pork and crab and pork steamed ones instead. There are also lots of different types of dumplings and dishes available but hundy p, get yourself the crab and pork soup ones. Worth the extra few dollars! I wish there was a slurp-and-go soup dumpling place like this in London.
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Ward's Island/Toronto Islands
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Not a food spot but my favourite spot in Toronto. It's only a short ferry ride away (15 mins) and it felt like we had escaped to another world. Almost like Animal Crossing. Warmed my soul particularly with the beautiful coloured golden and red trees that decorated each house! I loved it, I loved it, I loved it!!!
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Rudy
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
My favourite burger of the entire trip. A messy one but one worth licking your fingers for. We went for the double bacon cheeseburger with fries.

Steam Whistle Brewery Tour Downtown Toronto
Our last trip to Toronto was very successful in business and pleasure. One of the things that my fellow business travels suggested as a field trip was the Steam Whistle Brewery Tour, which really wasn’t a very hard sell. Conveniently located at the base of the very phallic CN Tower, The brewery is housed in a heritage building right downtown Toronto so not going there while taking meeting downtown seemed a little bit silly. Most of the Tour is conducted on an elevated catwalk above the action and is a pretty cool angle to check out the brewery from. Beer wise, when in need of a refreshing lager, Steam Whistle hits the spot. They only do one beer their Pilsner, but as an extra bonus you can help yourself to as many Kellerbiers (unfiltered and super fresh) after the tour, which we did. They even have a patio outside which we over stayed our welcome and were politely asked to wrap it up. On this trip we visited two breweries, Steam Whistle and Bellwoods, two completely different operations. I think most people would go for a Steam (Meat) Whistle if given the choice but I prefer my Belgian inspired craft beers…. Good tour and ample beer, which is never a bad thing. Two thumbs up for the informative tour and the free flowing Kellerbier.

TORONTO, ONTARIO: Our FAVORITE spots in the Distillery District! | Ep. 6
The historic Distillery District is a new-ish developed historic site. Their vision was to transform the 47 existing Victorian buildings left over from a time when they were occupied as distilleries to included shops, restaurants, theatres, residences and art galleries. We explored the current distilleries and spent an afternoon exploring the brick streets that connect this creative community. History can be cool, kids!

FULL PLAYLIST:
Sadly, there are too many boring travel guides for Toronto, that's why I dug deep into this city to find the best hidden spots in the largest city of Canada.
My favorite districts are easily located in close proximity; Chinatown, Kensington Market, the Waterfront and the new Little Tokyo district for its delicious Japanese dishes, treats and first Uniqlo store.
Toronto can be expensive if you don't know what you are doing but luckily there are some FREE things to do as well, like hanging out at the RecRoom, Graffiti alley, Sunnyside Pavilion and FREE beer from the Steam Whistle Brewery or drive out of town for the FREE sites at Cheltenham Badlands and Scarborough Bluffs.
I personally recommend going all out because there are so many awesome things to do, do not cheap out, saving up a few extra months will be worth every penny in the end. A rough budget for 5 awesome days in Toronto for 1-person would be around $400 airbnb/hotel and $600 for transit, shopping, food, events, museums & parties = around $1000.
The first thing you have to remember about Toronto is that distances are a lot further than what you may be used to in Europe or Asia, streets and blocks are very large. Everything is very spread out in this massive metropolitan city so try to at least visit a few new districts every day.
My recommendations for a daily itinerary include Annex, Koreatown, Queen Street, Chinatown, Kensington Market and Entertainment district on day 1. Waterfront, Toronto Islands, Yonge Street & Leslieville on day 2 and the outskirts Caledon (Badlands) & Scarborough (Beach) on day 3.
My favorite way to explore Toronto is by jogging, you'll be surprised as to what you may find. Many of these photos were taken at places I randomly ran into, places you will never see on a guided tour.
After dinner at The Dime (where dishes are $5 each) you'll be energized to explore the massive Toronto nightlife. I recommend nightclubs Rebel, Coda or Uniun for some fist pumping and RecRoom, Belfast Love and Tilt for a few drinks but remember the nightlife in Toronto ends very early, the bar closes at 2:00am thus making the nightlife often feel very rushed since most people party extremely hard between 12am and 2am, definitely a down side of the city.
I would love to know if my YouTube video was helpful and if so, please leave a comment below and let me know which place seems most interesting to you? Or let me know if you want more information about a specific place I mentioned.
Have a safe journey!

Love the warm weather, +15C (60F), spring is just around the corner, BBQ, cold beer and a dream of some long road trips...
TORONTO, ONTARIO: The BEST places to EAT from our Kensington Market Food Tour! | Ep. 7
This week we went on a food tour of the boho Kensington Market in Toronto. It’s full of vintage shops, ethnic restaurants, bars, food markets and music shops (and hipsters). It has so much history! It was one of Toronto’s first markets known as the “Jewish Market”. It borders Chinatown and in more recent years has a lot of Latin grocers and restaurants. We love going there weekly and you must visit if you come to Toronto!
