Visiting Tortuguero, Costa Rica: National Park, Turtles and Canals
A short video about our trip to Tortuguero, Costa Rica. We went with Pachira who provided everything for us. We did a boat ride in the national park, visited the town, saw turtles and enjoyed the jungle.

Good morning everybody, today we are waiting in front of our hotel in downtown San Jose to get picked up by Pachira to go to Tortuguero. Tortuguero is a beautiful place on the Caribbean coast known for its wildlife and national park. Our transpiration just arrived so let's go and see Tortuguero.
We're at the main dock of Pachira lodge as we're about to go on a boat ride through the national park. We're going to go through the canals and hopefully see a lot of wildlife. It's a beautiful day so let's go.
We're about to take a boat to go to the small town of Tortuguero. We're going to go walk around the beach and see what the town is like. It's very small, it only has about 2000 people.
Another activity that they offer is an easy 1 kilometer walk. It's a great way to also see nature and wildlife.
Today is our last day here in Tortuguero and we're actually about to go take the boat back to La Pavona to head back to San Jose. We had a great time here in Tortuguero and Pachira Lodge. We saw a ton of wildlife and enjoyed a lot of the nature that's around.
Pachira makes it really easy to visit Tortuguero, as they include everything from transportation to food to activities and they have packages from one day to two or three or four or however how long you want to stay.

Be careful when visiting, however, in most parts swimming is banned due to the high concentration of sharks and barracudas in the water. If you want to jump in, look for the locals who're swimming anywhere along the 35 km stretch of beach- locals always know best. As we venture deeper into the jungle we come across a whole bunch of very playful Monkeys a tiny poisonous frog and more monkeys. Next up a canal tour where we saw Cayman,All kinds of Birds and white face Monkeys.
TORTUGUERO NATIONAL PARK - COSTA RICA VLOG PART 3
Tortuguero National Park is one of the most interesting places I've traveling to. To get to the main town you have to take a swift boat ride down the winding river canal system. The air is humid in this rain forest and the main draw? Massive sea turtles that call these
beaches home and where they build nests to lay hundreds of eggs. The waters are rough and the locals live simple lives. Being so isolated there are no cars in the town, only boats that take locals and tourists around this fascinating area of Costa Rica.

Tortuguero National Park | Costa Rica Nature Vacation in Tortuguero
Tortuguero National Park in Costa Rica
Tortuguero is one of Costa Rica's most popular National Parks. It is a wilderness area with great biological variety. The wildlife is rich and diverse, with eleven different defined habitats.
Strong Caribbean currents have provided a long, straight 22 mile expanse of beach which is a favored nesting ground for sea turtles. Hawks-bill, loggerheads, and Pacific green turtles nest from July through October. The leather-back, the largest sea turtle species in the world, nests from February to July.
Water is an abundant natural resource with up to 240 inches of rainfall per year. An infinite number of interconnected channels, waterways, lagoons and lakes are fed by rivers that carry their inland sediment load to the coast.
Occasionally, the sediment filled plain is interrupted by forested rolling hills, composed of ancient volcanic cinder cones, such as Tortuguero Hill and the Lomas de Sierpe, which looms over 1,000 feet.

Sea Turtles Hatching - Tortuguero National Park, Costa Rica (Part 1)
Baby sea turtles hatching from a mound of eggs at Tortuguero National Park, Costa Rica. This mound was located just down the beach from another turtle laying eggs (see separate video). It appeared that dozens of turtles hatched from this spot, but they were already well into it by the time we walked up.

Der lange Weg von Monteverde nach Tortuguero zwang uns zu einem weiteren Stop in San José für eine Nacht. Aus einer nicht ersehnten Nacht in San José wurde Luxusbackpacking in einem Fünfsternehotel pur.
Im Fischerdorf Tortuguero angekommen, konnten wir beobachten, wie Riesenschildschröten ihren Platz für die Eiablage suchen, um dann ihre Eier zulegen und sich anschließend auf zurück ins Meer machten - einfach traumhaft und unvergesslich dieser Moment.., aber seht selbst! :)
