The Seattle Underground: The Hidden City
Seattle, Washington, is known for being the home of two of the biggest tech companies in the United States- Microsoft, and Amazon.com. With all of its modern charm, few people would ever notice that there is an entire hidden underground city beneath the streets. This is known as the “Seattle Underground”, and it still contains shops and buildings that once served as the city’s businesses. So...Why did the city of Seattle build an entire new town on top of the old one, and how did they do it? Find out on today’s Geographics.

Seattle's Top Hidden Gems! (Seattle has a museum for WHAT!?) [CC]
Today I'm showing you five not-so-hidden hidden gems to visit in Seattle. Yes, you should totally visit Pike Place Market and the Space Needle, but you should check these out next. From the streets of the International District and Little Saigon to some of the most peculiar museums, there's something for everyone. (And I do mean everyone. How did we even get a dialysis museum? I have so many questions about that.)

Beautiful Seattle
Kind of a quick Ode to Seattle, one of the most beautiful cities in the world (as far as I'm concerned at least). I'm a still photographer but have been forcing myself to shoot a little video after I'm done with my stills and the two practices require a completely different mindset so please excuse the lack of flow and technical issues here or there. To see some of the stills used in the video plus much more from Seattle, please visit my flickr album: . I tried to geotag and/or name the places in case you want to visit or use it as a photography or travel guide.
*update*, the aerial footage of the Great Wheel was taken from the Columbia Tower observation deck using a telephoto lens :)

COMPLETE ROAD TRIP PLAYLIST:
Walking to Pike Place Seattle in the Morning on 1st Ave [4K UHD]
Heading up 1st Ave towards Pike Place Market early in the morning before most of the city is awake.
We start out at 1st Ave and University St at the Seattle Art Museum. The Hammering Man is already hard at work.
Once you actually get up to Pike Place I highly recommend that you give Storyville Coffee a visit. Absolutely the best coffee I've ever had. And great breakfast sandwiches. Don't miss out.
Seattle Washington is beautiful.
Pike Place Market is a public market overlooking the Elliott Bay waterfront in Seattle, Washington, United States. The Market opened August 17, 1907, and is one of the oldest continuously operated public farmers' markets in the United States. It is a place of business for many small farmers, craftspeople and merchants. Named after the central street, Pike Place runs northwest from Union Street to Virginia Street. With more than 10 million visitors annually, Pike Place Market is Seattle's most popular tourist destination and is the 33rd most visited tourist attraction in the world.[2]
The Market is built on the edge of a steep hill, and consists of several lower levels located below the main level. Each features a variety of unique shops such as antique dealers, comic book and collectible shops, small family-owned restaurants, and one of the oldest head shops in Seattle. The upper street level contains fishmongers, fresh produce stands and craft stalls operating in the covered arcades. Local farmers and craftspeople sell year-round in the arcades from tables they rent from the Market on a daily basis, in accordance with the Market's mission and founding goal: allowing consumers to Meet the Producer.
Pike Place Market is home to nearly 500 residents who live in 8 different buildings throughout the Market. Most of these buildings have been low income housing in the past; however, some of them no longer are, such as the Livingston Baker apartments. The Market is run by the quasi-government Pike Place Market Preservation and Development Authority (PDA).
Seattle USA streets
This is a beautiful street in Belluevue, Seattle, Washington state, USA. People often compare India with US and say, we are no less than USA. But, if you observe impartially, reality is entirely different!

Places to see in ( Seattle - USA )
Places to see in ( Seattle - USA )
Seattle, a city on Puget Sound in the Pacific Northwest, is surrounded by water, mountains and evergreen forests, and contains thousands of acres of parkland. Washington State’s largest city, it’s home to a large tech industry, with Microsoft and Amazon headquartered in its metropolitan area. The futuristic Space Needle, a 1962 World’s Fair legacy, is its most iconic landmark. The city is situated on an isthmus between Puget Sound (an inlet of the Pacific Ocean) and Lake Washington, about 100 miles (160 km) south of the Canada–United States border. A major gateway for trade with Asia, Seattle is the fourth-largest port in North America in terms of container handling as of 2015.
First time in Seattle? Cut to the chase and make a beeline for its proverbial pantry: Pike Place Market. It was founded in 1907 to fortify locals with fresh Northwest produce, and its long-held mantra of ‘meet the producer’ still echoes enthusiastically around a city where every restaurateur worth their salt knows the name of their fishmonger and the biography of the cow that became yesterday’s burgers. It doesn’t take long to realize that you’ve arrived in a city of well-educated palates and wildly experimental chefs who are willing to fuse American cuisine with just about anything – as long as it’s local.
Visitors setting out to explore Seattle should think of the city as a United States of Neighborhoods or – to put it in more human terms – a family consisting of affectionate but sometimes errant siblings. There’s the aloof, elegant one (Queen Anne), the cool, edgy one (Capitol Hill), the weird, bearded one (Fremont), the independently minded Scandinavian one (Ballard), the grizzled old grandfather (Pioneer Square) and the precocious adolescent still carving out its identity (South Lake Union). You’ll never fully understand Seattle until you’ve spent a bit of time with them all.
To outsiders, Seattle is an industrious creator of macro-brands. To insiders, it’s a city of micro-businesses and boundary-pushing grassroots movements. For proof, dip into the third-wave coffee shops, the microbreweries with their casual tasting rooms or the cozy informal bookstores that remain rock solid in a city that spawned Amazon. Then there are the latest national trends that Seattle has helped create: craft cider, pot shops, micro-distilleries, specialist pie-makers, homemade ice cream and fledgling nano-breweries. Walk the streets and scour the neighborhoods; there’s far more to this city than Starbucks' vanilla lattes and Boeing airplanes.
It may have nurtured tech giants Microsoft and Amazon, but that doesn’t mean Seattle hasn’t got a surreal, arty side. Crisscross its urban grid and you’ll find all kinds of apparitions: a rocket sticking out of a shoe shop; a museum built to resemble a smashed-up electric guitar; glass orbs in wooden canoes; a statue of Lenin; a mural made of used chewing gum; fish-tossing market traders; and a museum dedicated to antique pinball machines (that you can still play). No, you haven't over-indulged in some powerful (legal) marijuana. You’ve just worked out that Seattle is far more bohemian than beige.

Two cities which, at first glance, seem very similar to each other. Although Seattle is an American city and Vancouver is a Canadian city, both are part of the same region, known as the Pacific Northwest, or sometimes known as Cascadia.
Both have a temperate oceanic climate known for their generally cool temperatures and rainy weather. While both have four seasons, it never gets too cold in the winter and never too hot in the summer. Both can get snow in the winter and get A LOT of precipitation from November through January. Yep, those three months are cold, dark, and rainy.
Both are in the infamous Ring of Fire, an area where lots of earthquakes and volcanic eruptions tend to occur.
Both have about the same population in the actual city limits. (V- 675,218, S- 724,745). However, Seattle’s metro population has about 1.5 million more people. (V- 2.5 million, S- 4 million) But you could say Vancouver is a bigger deal in its home country, as it has the 3rd largest metro in all of Canada, while Seattle has the 15th largest metro. Seattle has been the fastest growing American big city of the past decade.
While both are ethnically diverse, Vancouver is more so. 40% of Vancouver’s population is made up of immigrants. Around 28% of Vancouver residents are Chinese. It’s been called the “most Asian city outside of Asia.”
Both have low pollution and are environmentally friendly. Both have pledged to go carbon neutral by 2050.
I mean, overall both have a high quality of life, and thus...both cities are really expensive.

Seattle Travel Video
Seattle Travel Video - Seattle is the largest metro area in the Pacific Northwest, with a population of about 3.3 million (580,000 in the city proper). Its a bookish, well-educated place, but also a dynamic and inventive urban center - most of the citys recent economic growth has been fueled by technology: both high-tech and the old-school, engine-parts variety. The Port of Seattle is the second-largest handler of container cargo in the United States.
Two of its most successful citizens also happen to be Seattles two largest public figures, Bill Gates and Paul Allen. And they symbolize a certain aspect of the citys contradictory attitude toward its own success. Both undeniably ambitious and indisputably successful, Gates and Allen are seen simultaneously as points of civic pride and shameless capitalists who are totally alien to the prevailing Seattle culture.
And speaking of culture, youll be forgiven for thinking Seattles is mostly white - at least if you hang out in hipster coffee shops or go to many indie-rock shows - but Seattle has a rich multicultural history and is home to Native American, African American, Asian American and growing Ethiopian American populations. The city ranks 23rd of the 30 largest US cities in African-American population, at 8.4% - higher than every West Coast city except Los Angeles. It also has the largest concentration of Native Americans in the Pacific Northwest. The largest group in urban Seattle is the Duwamish people, the Native Americans who originally lived on the shores of Elliott Bay.
Incredible Seattle Travel Video...
Snoqualmie waterfall Seattle
Snoqualmie Falls is a 268-foot (82 m) waterfall in the northwest United States, located east of Seattle on the Snoqualmie River between Snoqualmie and Fall City, Washington.
The Snoqualmie Falls Hydroelectric Plant is at Snoqualmie Falls. It was the world's first completely underground power plant.
Washington, DC to Seattle, WA: A Complete Road Trip
This video begins in Washington, DC around dawn on May 3, 2018 and concludes at SeaTac Airport in Sea-Tac, WA, just south of Seattle, in the late morning of May, 6, 2018. The drive was 3,084 miles (4,963 kilometers). All of this video was recorded in real-time, but this video is played back at 4x time-lapse speed. (The links to the real-time videos are below, and the hyper-lapse versions of this video will be uploaded at some point.) Nearly all of this entire video was done in the daytime; however, there is about a 20-minute section between Caldwell, Idaho and eastern Oregon done in darkness as it was before sunrise.
The states passed through are
District of Columbia (0:00:20-0:02:02)
Virginia (0:02:02-0:52:00)
West Virginia (0:52:00-1:36:28)
Kentucky (1:36:28-2:18:16)
Indiana (2:18:16-2:44:19)
Illinois (2:44:19-3:11:01)
Missouri (3:11:01-4:10:05)
Kansas (4:10:05-5:34:14)
Colorado (5:34:14-7:17:47)
Utah (7:17:47-8:27:32)
Idaho (8:27:32-9:20:40)
Oregon (9:20:40-10:04:18)
Washington (10:04:18-10:58:48)
The highest elevation of the drive was 11,158 feet (3,401 meters) at the Eisenhower Tunnel in Colorado (6:22:45), which was also the continental divide. The hottest temperature of the drive was 86 F (30 C) between western West Virginia and eastern Kentucky, as well as near Jerome, Idaho. The coldest temperature of the drive was 24 F (-5 C) at Vail Pass, Colorado (6:27:55).
This video is a long time coming, but it is finally uploaded. This is the first of many videos I will be uploading in the upcoming months. Unlike the CA-NY video, this video was entirely done in one trip with the same vehicle - a 2018 Nissan Pathfinder. Also, this video was shot using the Garmin Virb Ultra 30, which records GPS information. The position, elevation, and heading are shown on the video. Since 2/3 of all viewers of my videos are from outside the U.S., I set everything to metric. I plan to use English units for the real-time versions, however.
