Colombia COFFEE tour in Medellin learning about COLOMBIAN Coffee
Coffee and Colombia go hand in hand. Many people backpacking Colombia will wait until they visit the Coffee Region to do a coffee farm tour – but you don’t have to!
I recommend visiting a Coffee Farm outside Medellín. This tour was one of three tours I did with Toucan Cafe & Tours who support small independent local businesses in the Antioquia region.

Looking for basketball games in medellin.
The Toucan cafe has language exchange inside the cafe tuesdays and thursdays from 6pm to 8pm. Towards the end of the exchange the hosts of the exchange come around with verbs in the languages being exchanged and you have to translate them in your target language that you are learning. It was fun and challenging.

Colombia | A Little Place Called Minca
Only half an hour drive in a car from the bright lights of Santa Marta, Minca, Colombia, is a mountainous paradise!
Cascading waterfalls, clean fresh mountain air, hiking trails, organic coffee plantations, hummingbirds, toucans and a variety of other colourful birdlife makes Minca well worth a visit when travelling Colombia.
From certain viewpoints on the trails in the mountains it is possible to see the snowy peaks of the Sierra Nevada in one direction and the exotic white beaches of the Caribbean – it is here in Minca that the incredible diversity of Colombia really hits home. See more on the best treks to do from Minca below…
Join us as we stay in the beautiful Ecohabs, visit Pozo azul waterfalls and head to a gigantic hammock at the hostel Casa Elemento.

How Graffiti Changed Medellín’s Most Dangerous District (Communa 13 Tour)
September 23, 2017 / VLOG NO. 87 – We see how graffiti changed Medellín’s most dangerous district, the Communa 13 neighborhood on a walking tour. We went with Toucan Cafe & Tours on a Street Art Tour, led by a local hip-hop artist from the district itself. It is a highly recommended tour and it was one of the best moments of my time in Colombia!

COMUNA 13, Medellín: Inside Colombia's Most Dangerous Neighbourhood
Comuna 13 Medellín is famous for once being the most dangerous neighbourhood in not only Colombia but the entire world, due to sky high crime rates and a history of violence.
So what's it like today, after a range of government operations (including the infamous Operacion Orion) and initiatives were implemented in an attempt to revive the neighbourhood? Let's head in & find out.
If you're wondering what to do in Medellín during your time there, we highly recommend taking the Comuna 13 graffiti tour by Toucan Cafe. While it is safe to visit the neighbourhood by yourself, a guided tour will ensure you have a better understanding of the community's evolution throughout the past few decades. It's one of our favourite experiences in Latin America!
If you want to see more Colombia travel vlogs, don't forget to subscribe to our channel. The Guatape vlog, which features a little known place right outside Medellín, will be up really, really soon!

Welcome to Colombia
In Queremal, Valle del Cauca is located the Finca El Descanso, or as people call it commonly “Doña Dora”, in reference to its owner. The Finca El Descanso is a place to get lunch in the road and it is run by Doña Dora and her family. When Doña Dora started giving food to the birds, more tourists started coming to the Finca El Descanso. It has been a hard work for them, but it has been rewarded. It is the perfect place for bird watching Colombia and birding photography. There you can watch at least 12 different species of hummingbirds and other bird species as the White-lined Tanager, the Blue-Winged Mountain-Tanager, the Clay-colored Thrush and the Toucan Barbet.

What you tourists need to bring to Taganga, Colombia... Please LIKE and Comment... SifuSlim.com
Sifu Slim, man on the move.
Despite some of the criticism, I still chose to stay in Taganga over flying to Honolulu, where I practically need reservations to see my amigos, socialize, etc. Then, one has to drive through traffic (and jams) to get most places, and then find parking . Hawaii buses are nice but many stop running in the evening. Even in popular places on Oahu, like Kailua, finding parking near the beach is no piece of cake.
Taganga: lovely, friendly and helpful people. Life is cheap.
Es un pueblo... it's a village. It has a tropical village personality.
Lodging por noche: $10 to $60 US
Restaurants: dinner, $8 to $15 (not counting counting drinks)
Buses:
Taganga to Santa Marta: 50 cents, 12 minutos
Santa Marta to el Aeropuerto Simon Bolivar: 50 cents, 15 minutos.
The mountain is called la Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta.
Tayrona, pronounced Tai row nah. (I butchered the name.)
Breakfast: 15.000 COP (Colombian Pesos), $5
with fresh frappee-d smoothie drink of local fruit and a nice cup of Colombian cafe.
I ask for 2 extra eggs in my omelette, and patacones (thick green plantain chips or fritters)... total, under $8
Dinner: Seafood and rice dish. $10 with no drink
Things to Bring:
Tiger Balm: Keeps insects and bugs away (also good for healing bites and soothing sore muscles)
Walking stick: wards off moto thieves and perros.
Safety glasses: for insects and flying dust and sand. Under 10% wear surgical masks on their faces for dust. (In Bogata, some wear masks for the pollution.)
A conversion chart for the currency.
Las gafas de natación, Swimming goggles
White rash guard: for insects and sun.
Una Mochila, a backpack
El ruido, the noise. They are not playing techno. Mostly, it's booming Latin pop music and dance music. I recommend fancy earplugs and firearm earmuffs.
In Aloha, pura vida, y hasta luega, Lucas.

Welcome to Colombia
Colombia is the country with most bird species in the world thanks to its diversity in ecosystems. This country is divided in six natural regions, the Andean Region, the Pacific Region and the Caribbean region with their islands which corresponds to the Insular Region, the Orinoquia Region, and the Colombian Amazon Region. Each of these Colombian natural regions has unique landscapes, such as the Chocó rain forest in the Pacific, the multiple and drastic ecosystems in the Andes Mountains like the Seranía del Perijá or the Tatacoa Desert, the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta in the Caribbean Region, the Colombian savannas in the Llanos, and the Amazon Jungle. Colombia is a very special spot for birdwatching and birding tourism, because here you can find around 1,935 bird species, of which around 96 of them are endemic species and around 160 species of hummingbirds. Besides that, here in Colombia you can watch migratory birds that come from the rest of the American continent. That’s why Colombia has been occupying the first place in Global Big Day since 2017 and it is waiting for you to come and meet all bird species this country has.
