Just beyond the towers lies the republic’s ancient capital, San Marino City. The heart and soul of this city is Liberty Square, home to the Statue of Liberty and the Palazzo Pubblico. Wherever you turn you’ll see tributes to the republic’s founder, no more so than in San Marino Basilica, where the bones of the saint now rest beneath the altar.

Visit The San Marino Capital: The City Of San Marino!
So... is San Marino a country? Yes! San Marino is the 5th smallest country in the world. Full of beautiful mountains and amazing hikes. To get here you'll need to take the bus from Rimini to San Marino. Outside of the Rimini train station, get on the Bonelli bus 72 right near the Burger King. The trip is only about $10 roundtrip and it runs all day.
When you visit San Marino, go to the tourist office and buy a stamp to go in your passport book, then check out the Basilica Di San Marino. On the way there, you'll walk by the beautiful town hall building aka Palazzo Pubblico. San Marino population is only 33,000, and most of them you won't see because if you're a tourist, you're more than likely going to visit the three towers.
The Three Towers of San Marino:
1) Guaita
2) De La Fratta (or Cesta Castle)
3) Montale
The towers used to serve as lookout points for intruders but today they are museums filled with ancient weapons and armor.
Visit San Marino for great views, ancient history, and if you want to check off a micro country in your passport book.

Day Trip to San Marino Country | Travel Vlog | Shot On GoPro
Welcome back to #TheDayTripShow. We are in Florence, Italy and in the latest episode of the series, we will be exploring one of the smallest countries in the world which is within Italy.
We’re taking a day trip to San Marino, which is the world’s oldest constitutional republic in the world. San Marino is best known in the current times for hosting the San Marino GP.
On our day trip, we take a train from Florence to Bologna onwards Rimini and then take a bus to San Marino. Next, we headed to the tourist office to get a hang of an otherwise confusing city. We got our passports stamped at the tourist office with the official seal of #SanMarino.
After a quick slice of Pizza, it was time to hike and enjoy the 3 towers and the views of the third smallest country in Europe.
To avoid missing our train back, we got back sooner to Rimini but got stuck in Bologna due to train delay.
You see, not all travels are rosy but there’s so much to learn always!

We activated all 9 of the municipalities that go to make up
San Marino.
Conditions were excellent which enabled us to log 1,060 stations in our log.

산마리노는 이탈리아 중심부에 있습니다.
아드리아해의 따뜻한 해변에서 1시간도 안되는 거리에 있죠. 60㎢를 조금 넘는 면적으로 유럽에서 바티칸시티와 모나코를 이어 세번째로 작은 나라입니다. 여기에는 언덕과 농지에서 웅장하게 솟아오른 티타노 산이 있습니다. 이곳은 국가의 창시자 성 마리누스가 3세기 종교 박해로부터 벗어나기 위해 피난처로 사용했죠. 수 세기 동안 세 개의 탑이 이곳의 독립과 자유를 지키기 위해 지어졌습니다. 오늘날 이 탑들은 역사, 문화, 아름다움이 풍부한 이 나라를 지킨답니다.

이 절벽 위 탑 너머에 이곳의 고대 수도, 산마리노가 있습니다. 운전을 하든 케이블카로 이동을 하든 꼭대기에 도착하면 전혀 다른 시간, 다른 세계에 온 듯한 착각이 들죠.
산마리노 역사지구는 세계문화유산으로 지정되었습니다. 좁은 골목길을 거닐다 보면 그 이유를 금새 알 수 있죠. 산마리노는 세계에서 가장 오래된 입헌 공화국입니다.
끝없이 변화하는 세계 속에서 이곳은 자랑스럽게 과거를 보유하고 있습니다. 이 공화국의 정신과 영혼은 자유 광장이 반영합니다. 산마리노 고유의 자유의 여신상이 바로 여기에 있죠. 시청인 팔라조 푸블리코도 있습니다.
시간을 잘 확인해 위병 교대식도 구경해 보세요. 여름에 매 시간마다 열린답니다. 내부로 들어가면 에이브러햄 링컨의 흉상을 찾아보세요. 그는 미국 남북전쟁의 암울한 시대에 희망의 빛줄기로 이 공화국의 가치를 보았답니다.
의회실로 들어가면 성 마리누스가 미래로 국가를 안내하는 사람들을 보살피는 그림을 볼 수 있습니다.
어디에든 이 공화국의 건국자를 기리는 흔적이 가득하죠. 그 대표적인 예로 산마리노 대성당에는 이 석공에 불과했던 사람의 뼈가 제단 아래 보관되어 있습니다. 건국자 성 마리누스와 같이 이탈리아의 혁명가 가리발디를 포함해 수많은 사람들이 이 산을 피난처로 찾았습니다. 1849년 장군과 그의 부대는 그들을 쫓는 적들로부터 피할 수 있도록 이곳에서 보호를 받게 되죠. 오늘날 산마리노는 예술과 역사 애호가들의 환영받는 안식처이기도 합니다.
고대 무기 박물관에서 옛 대포도 구경해 보세요. 호기심 박물관의 흥미로운 전시물들도 놓치지 마시고요. 성 프란시스 박물관에서는 가장 성스러운 작품을 만날 수 있죠. 주립 박물관에서 정말 가치있는 보물들도 구경해보세요. 이곳은 면세 국가로 쇼핑의 천국이기도 합니다.
모든 럭셔리 브랜드와 고유의 전통 숍을 만나실 수 있죠. 산마리노의 동전과 우표는 전 세계 수집가들에게 인기입니다. 가장 독특한 기념을 원하신다면 관광 사무소에서 여권에 도장을 받으세요. 물론 산마리노의 진정한 스타는 이곳의 탑들입니다.
11세기로 거슬러 가는 구아이타 타워가 가장 오래되고 가장 큰 요새입니다. 인근의 종탑도 구경하세요. 적의 공격을 경고하기 위해 사용되었죠. 하지만 오늘날에는 산마리노 시민들의 축제의 장소로 사용됩니다. 그림 같은 길을 따라 가장 높은 지점의 티타노 산에 올라보세요. 해상 0.8km 높이에 세스타 타워의 흉벽을 볼 수 있습니다. 티타노 산의 가장 먼 정상에는 외로운 파수꾼처럼 서 있는 탑 중 가장 작은 몬탈레 탑이 보입니다. 이 탑은 현재 폐쇄되어 있죠.
멀리 보인다는 것은 그만큼 시원한 공기를 제공하는 이 산이 드넓다는 것이죠. 비록 아주 작은 나라지만 그 어디서도 쉽게 만날 수 없는 아늑한 평온이 있는 나라입니다. 결국 이곳의 공식 이름은 가장 고요한 산마리노 공화국으로도 알려져 있죠. 이러한 평온을 즐기려면 일일 관광으로 이곳을 방문하지 마세요.
1박 또는 2박을 하며 이 천국을 즐기세요. 관광버스가 아래의 바쁜 세상으로 돌아가고 나면 하늘에서 내려온 듯한 고요함이 펼쳐진답니다. 그리고 그러한 평온 속에서 느끼실 것입니다.
산마리노의 빛이 수 세기 동안 밝게 타오르게 하는 그것, 바로 자유입니다.

Twelve students of journalism from the Voionmaa Institute, Finland, came to San Marino 6.-13.4.2014 to make some short travel articles with photos and videos for the State Tourist Office of San Marino. This time we tried to reach the heart of Sammarinese, something which is important for the identity here is RSM.
Because the capital of the Republic, Città, is built on the high top of the mountain Monte Titano we wanted also get to know it closer - by rock climbing with good and trusted trainers!

THREE TOWERS!
Three Towers of San Marino. On the top of Mount Titano rise the Three Towers – Guaita, Cesta, and Montale. From the top of Cesta Tower, the highest point in San Marino, you can see the entire country spreading out below. The tower also hosts a very exciting “Museum of Historical Weapons”, with more than 700 armor and weapons exhibits. The oldest tower is known as “Guaita Tower”, built in the 11th century. Montale, the smallest of three towers constructed in the 14th century, is not open to the public. Mount Titano has become part of the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2008.
