Toyota Motor Manufacturing Kentucky, Inc. (TMMK) is an automobile manufacturing factory in Georgetown, Kentucky, USA. It is part of Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing North America (TEMA), owned by Toyota Motor Corporation of Japan.
Originally known as Toyota Motor Manufacturing USA, TMMK was established in 1986 (the first wholly owned Toyota manufacturing plant in the U.S.) and is Toyota's largest manufacturing facility in the world. Toyota spent $1.33 billion at the facility and added 700 new jobs in 2017 in preparation for the all new 2018 Camry; the first copies of which rolled off the line on 28 June 2017. TMMK is also the first US facility to use Toyota's new TNGA (Toyota New Global Architecture) technology which underpins the 2018 Camry.
TMMK began production in May 1988, building the 1989 model 4-cylinder Camry. In the beginning, the engines were shipped from the Toyota Kamigo plant in Toyota City, Japan; however, an on-site engine plant was added in 1990. It presently builds the Avalon sedan, Camry sedan, and Lexus ES sedan. It previously produced the Sienna minivan, Venza crossover, and Camry Solara coupe and convertible. The factory also produces 4-cylinder and V6 engines and powertrain parts. The plant has three automobile assembly lines (two Toyota lines and one Lexus line) with an annual capacity of 550,000 vehicles, and an engine shop with an annual capacity of 600,000 engines. In addition to assembling vehicles and engines, many plastic parts used at TMMK are made at an on-site plastics shop.
In addition to TMMK, Toyota added Camry production at Subaru of Indiana Automotive, Inc. in 2007 to keep up with demand for the new Camry and increase production capacity of the Camry Hybrid prior to the decline in the automotive industry in the U.S. On 13 November 2013, Toyota announced it will end the contract with Subaru of Indiana Automotive in 2016. SIA's Camry production was reabsorbed by TMMK, largely because of declines in midsize sedan sales, meaning that all Camry models sold in the US continue to be American-made cars as they have since the 2012 model year. Prior to the 2012 model year, a small amount of Camry models sold in the US were imported from Toyota's Tsutsumi plant in Japan.
Harbour Consulting rated it as the eighth most efficient auto plant in North America in 2006.
TMMK began the production of the Lexus ES sedan beginning in October 2015, adding 50,000 vehicles annually and 750 jobs to the facility. Toyota will invest $360 million to accommodate the additional work. Lexus was founded in the United States, so it is only fitting that we are bringing the production of luxury sedans for our U.S. customers back to where the brand was born, said Akio Toyoda, president of Toyota Motor Corporation. It is also fitting that we chose Kentucky because it was Toyota's first stand-alone plant in America. So in a way, for manufacturing, Kentucky is Toyota's home. It also has some of the most-experienced Toyota team members in the world.Daniel Lowry, a spokesperson for the Kentucky Cabinet of Economic Development, gave credit to the high quality of Kentucky's workforce, saying Lexus wanted its best people involved in the first U.S. expansion of the brand's manufacturing.

You can't get much more blue collar than Georgetown, Kentucky.
It is a manufacturing town with some seven thousand people working in this 200-acre facility building Toyota vehicles.
But unlike their colleagues at G-M, Ford and Chrysler those here say they're not too fearful about their jobs, the future of their plant or the state of their company.

Those here, though, are quick to point out that their good fortune isn't because they are better or harder workers, rather they say success starts at the top.

I think toyota has made some better decisions.
I feel at the moment that Toyota is here and doing well even with their prius sales with GM needing a bailout.
But even here they say they know the good times won't last forever, especially if the economy continues to sour.

It's not a matter of Toyota or G-M, it's a matter of what we have, we're blessed with it, but we're still impacted by all of the other issues too.
For now, though, things here though just keep looking up and 2009 may even be the best yet as Toyota is looking to expand the number of cars produced under this roof.

The Toyota Crown is an automobile which has been produced by Toyota in Japan since 1955. It is currently a line of mid/full-size luxury sedans primarily aimed at the Japanese market and sold in other select Asian markets.
Introduced in 1955, it has served as the mainstream sedan from Toyota in the Japanese market throughout its existence and holds the distinction of being the longest running passenger-car nameplate affixed to any Toyota model, along with being the first Toyota vehicle to be exported to the United States in 1958. Its traditional competitors in Japan and Asia have been the Nissan Cedric/Gloria/Fuga and the Honda Legend, along with the defunct Mazda Luce, Isuzu Bellel, and Mitsubishi Debonair.
Available at Toyota Store dealers in Japan, the Crown has been popular for government usage, whether as a police car or for transporting government officials. It has also been popular with Japanese companies as company cars along with use as a taxicab. While a base Crown was available for many years aimed at the taxicab market, the increasing opulence and price of the Crown line led to the creation of the Toyota Comfort in 1995 as a more affordable alternative.
In North America, the first through fourth generations were offered from 1958 through 1973. It was replaced with the Toyota Corona Mark II. The Crown has also been partially succeeded in export markets by its closely related sibling, the Lexus GS, which since its debut in 1991 as the Toyota Aristo has always shared the Crown's platform and powertrain options. Later models of the GS and Crown have taken on a very strong aesthetic kinship through shared design cues.
The Crown's history and reputation has given it prominence in the Toyota lineup, as it is one of the few current Toyota models to carry its own unique insignia for the model line with the current Crown having a stylized crown emblem on the grille and steering wheel along with inspiring the names of its smaller progenitors. The Corona, introduced as a smaller companion to the Crown means crown in Latin and was initially exported as the Tiara, while the Corolla took its name from small crown in Latin, or the regal chaplet. The Camry's name is derived from the Japanese phrase kanmuri (冠, かんむり) meaning little crown and the Toyota Scepter took its name from the sceptre, an accessory to a crown. The Avalon (the Crown's North American counterpart), while not named after a crown, is named after a mythical island from the legends of King Arthur.
