Hagia Sophia is a museum, formerly Greek Orthodox church which was converted into a mosque in 1584, and located in Trabzon, in the north-eastern part of Turkey. It dates back to the thirteenth century when Trabzon was the capital of the Empire of Trebizond. It is located near the seashore and two miles west of the medieval town's limits. It is one of a few dozen Byzantine sites still extant in the area. It has been described as being regarded as one of the finest examples of Byzantine architecture.
Hagia Sophia was built in Trebizond during the reign of Manuel I between 1238 and 1263. The oldest graffiti carved in the apses of the church contain the dates 1291 and 1293. After Mehmed II conquered the city in 1461, the church was possibly converted into a mosque and its frescos covered in whitewash. Other scholars suggest it was not converted until 1584, being spared the initial transformation because it stood several kilometers outside the city walls. The monastery next door continued to be used by monks as late as 1701, when Tournefort found them still in residence. It is likely that the monks gradually abandoned a building that failed to protect them from harassment and predation, and the Turks assumed its use without needing to expel them.
In 2012, the religious authorities (Diyanet) filed a lawsuit against the ministry of culture, claiming the ministry had been 'illegally occupying' the church for some decades. The Diyanet won the case, getting ownership of the building. On 5 July 2013, the former church was partially converted for a while into a mosque according to the local Vakif Direction of Trabzon, which is the owner of the estate. The reconstruction works have already been started. Some frescoes were veiled and the floor covered by a carpet. The mufti of the Turkish province Trabzon said that “the works for opening the Hagia Sophia mosque in the city to practice prayers again are going on,” and that “during the prayer the mural paintings will be covered by curtains. The local union of architects from Trabzon filed a lawsuit against the ministry of religious affairs' conversion plan. A local judge ruled the transformation of the former church to be illegal, and ordered it to be maintained as a museum.Wikipedia

Hagia Sophia, also known as Ayasofya Museum, is a monastery church and the most important historical sight in Trabzon. Believed to be built during the reign of Manuel I (1238-1263), this church became a mosque, military depot, hospital, mosque again in 1880 and finally turned into a museum in 1964.
A very impressive building with a frieze on the south side depicting the creation of Adam and Eve, the Garden of Eden, picking the forbidden fruit, expulsion, and Cain slewing Abel. Just the first of today's sights that would be filled with important monasteries in Eastern Turkey.

Während des Türkischen Befreiungskrieges 1919–1923 wurde die Villa Kostaki als Hauptquartier des Militärs in der Region genutzt. 1924 wurde es für den ersten Besuch des türkischen Staatsgründers Mustafa Kemal Atatürk in Trapezunt umgebaut. Zwischen dem 15. und 17. September blieben Mustafa Kemal und seine Ehefrau Latife in der Villa. 1927 wurde das Gebäude von Gouverneur von Trapezunt Ali Galip Bey verstaatlicht und diente bis 1931 als Haus des Gouverneurs. Zwischen 1931 und 1937 wurde es als Büro des Inspektors genutzt.[2] Die Villa Kostaki wurde 1937 vom Erziehungsministerium übernommen und von da an für 50 Jahre als berufliche Oberschule für Mädchen genutzt. Schließlich wurde das Gebäude im Jahre 1987 an das Kultur- und Fremdenverkehrsministerium übergeben, um es in ein Museum umzuwandeln

Trabzon (see other names, Turkish pronunciation: [ˈtrabzon]) is a city on the Black Sea coast of north-eastern Turkey and the capital of Trabzon Province. Trabzon, located on the historical Silk Road, became a melting pot of religions, languages and culture for centuries and a trade gateway to Iran in the southeast and the Caucasus to the northeast.[3] The Venetian and Genoese merchants paid visits to Trebizond during the medieval period and sold silk, linen and woolen fabric; with the Republic of Genoa having an important merchant colony within the city that was similar to Galata near Constantinople (north across the Golden Horn) in present-day Istanbul.[4] Trabzon formed the basis of several states in its long history and was the capital city of the Empire of Trebizond between 1204 and 1461. During the Ottoman period, Trabzon, because of the importance of its port, became a focal point of trade to Iran and the Caucasus. The population of the center urban is 230,399 (2009 census).

Atatürk’s (House) Pavilion:
The Trabzon Museum (Turkish: Trabzon Müzesi), also known as Kostaki Mansion (Kostaki Konağı), is a historic house museum with archeological and ethnographic exhibitions located in Trabzon, Turkey. The mansion was built in the beginning of the 1900s as a private residence for Kostaki Teophylaktos, a notable banker of Greek origin. It is known that the architect was of Italian origin and many materials used in the building were brought from Italy. However, the name of the architect is unknown.
As Teophylaktos went bankrupt in 1917, all his properties were confiscated, among them his mansion. The building was acquired by the Nemlioğlu family.
During the timespan of Turkish War of Independence (1919–1923), the mansion was used as the headquarters for the military in the region. In 1924, it was prepared for the first visit of Mustafa Kemal, the founder of the Turkish Republic, to Trabzon. Between September 15–17, he and the First Lady Latife stayed in the mansion.
In 1927, the building was nationalized by the Governor of Trabzon Ali Galip Bey, and served until 1931 as the Governor's House. Between 1931-1937, it was used as the inspector's office.
The Kostaki Mansion was assigned in 1937 to the Ministry of National Education, and was used for fifty years long as a vocational high school for girls. Finally, in 1987, the building was handed over to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism to be transformed into a museum.The building, one of the outstanding examples of the civil architecture in Turkey, was restored between 1988-2001. On April 22, 2001, it was opened to public as the Trabzon Museum. A total of 3,651 items are found in the museum's inventory.
The building is on three levels in addition to a basement. The basement comprises archeological works, while the first floor is the section for ethnographic collections. On the ground floor, items belonging to the architecture and history of the mansion are exhibited. The attic is reserved for the administration.

Beldeye hava yolu ulaşımı Trabzondakı Trabzon hava limanından karşılanıyor. Bölgeye kara yoluyla gelmek için ise Türkiyenin her bölgesindeki otobüs terminallerinden Trabzon veya Rizeye otobüs seferleri mevcut. Bu şehirlerden herhangi birine geldiğinizde Bu şehirlerden toplu taşıma araçlarıyla Uzungöl’e varmanın mümkün. Özellikle yaz aylarında turizminde hareketlenmesi ile ulaşım seçenekleride artmaktadır.
Yerli ve yabancı turistlerin ilgi odağı olan bu bölgenin bu denli ilgi gösterilmesinin en önemli nedenleri,Muhteşem dogal güzelliği ile şehir hayatından uzak,doğaya duyulan özlemin,doğanin insana verdiği huzurun tam manasıyla hissedildiği bir yer olması.Bu muhteşem doğal güzelliğin yanı sıra, Yamaç paraşütü,olta balıkçlığı,Doğa yürüyüşü gibi birçok aktiviteninde uzungölde yapılabılır olması.bölgeyi ilgi odağı yapan sebeplerden.Ayni zamanda bölgede turiziminde gelişmesiyle bölgeye ait yöresel lezzetleri gelen konuklara sunmak için hizmet veren restoranlarda mevcut.Uzungölde bölgenin berrak ve soğuk sularında yetişen alabalığı,yine bölgede yetişen mısır ve meşhur trabzon treyağı kullanılarak yapılan mıhlama ve daha bir çok yöresel lezzeti tatmadan ayrılmamalı Uzungölden.
Tarihi belgeler ışığında en eski adı “Saraho” olan bu bölgeye ilişkin ilk kayıtlar 1586 yılına aittir. Kayıtlara göre, bölgede ilk kalıcı yerleşim 1650’li yıllardan sonralarına rastlamaktadır. Bölge, Cumhuriyet’in kuruluşuyla birlikte uzun yıllar Trabzon’nun Of İlçesi’ne bağlı olarak kalmışsa da, Çaykara’nın ilçe olduğu 1948 yılından itibaren ise bölgenin tamamı bu ilçe sınırları içerisinde yer almaktadır.
Uzungöl’ün hangi doğa olayı neticesinde oluştuğu hakkında o dönemden kalan herhangi bir yazılı belge yoktur. Fakat bölgedeki zaman içindeki jeolojik değişimler ve yerleşim hareketleri incelendiğinde ,Uzungöl’ün derin bir vadi olduğu anlaşılıyor.Uzungöl’ün bugünki göl haline gelmesi ise garaster yaylasının doğu tarafından Uzungöl’e tepeden bakan yamacın bir heyelan neticesinde akıp aşağı gelmesi ile solaklı deresinin önünü kaplaması ile meydana geldiği düşünülmektedir.
Uzungöl tarihi dokusu, kültürü ve coğrafi özellikleri açısından bir birçok zenginliği içinde barındıran bir bölge olmuştur. Dünya’nın en önemli biyolojik çeşitliliğine sahip olan Karadeniz ve Hazar Denize uzanan Kafkas Ekolojik Bölgesi içerisinde bulunan Uzungöl, eşsiz orman, yüksek dağ ve akarsu ekosistemlerine ev sahipliği yapmaktadır.
Yapılan bilimsel incelemeler sonucu, Uzungöl ve çevre bölgelerde yetişen 658 farklı bitki türü tespit edilmiştir. Bunun yanı sıra, Uzungöl, kartal, şahin, atmaca, doğan, delice, çaylak ve akbaba gibi gündüz yırtıcı kuşlarının, Türkiye’de üzerinden göç ettikleri, kuzeydoğu-güney göç yolu üzerinde bulunmaktadır. Gündüz yırtıcı kuşlarının herkes tarafından gözlenebilen muhteşem göç yolculuklarının yanısıra, Uzungöl bölgesi üzerinden göç ettiği yine birçok dikkatli göz tarafından da tespit edilebilen birçok tür vardır. The ancient city of Trabzon saw its most affluent days after the Latin Fourth Crusade turned against their fellow Christians and captured Constantinople in 1204 The successor Byzantine state in Trebizond survived until 1461 and grew rich from its strategic location at the Black Sea end of the Silk Road from Asia. The Church of Haghia Sofia (Holy Wisdom) in Trabzon, now a museum, is one of the most beautiful examples of Byzantine architecture. Video taken in 2004.

Şenol Güneş Stadium (Şenol Güneş Stadyumu), known as Medical Park Arena for sponsorship reasons, is a stadium located in Trabzon, Turkey. It opened to public in December 2016 and has a capacity of 41,513 spectators. It is the new home of Trabzonspor of the Süper Lig, replacing Hüseyin Avni Aker Stadium. It is named after the Turkish football manager and former goalkeeper of Trabzonspor and Turkey national football team, Şenol Güneş.
Trabzonspor is a professional Turkish football club located in the city of Trabzon, Turkey. Formed in 1967 through a merger of several local clubs, Trabzonspor have won six Süper Lig championship titles.The Club won their first Championship title in 1975–76, and won three championship titles in a row during the following years 1978–79, 1979–80, 1980–81. They won their most recent championship title in the 1983-84 season.
The club colours are claret and blue, and they have maroon and blue kits. Trabzonspor plays at the Şenol Güneş Stadium which replaced the Hüseyin Avni Aker Stadium as their home ground in the middle of the 2016–17 season.In 1921 the Trabzon İdmanocağı club were founded. Trabzonspor AS were founded in 1967. In 1975–76 season they won their first championship, and won further titles in 1976–77, 1977–78 ,1979–80, 1980–81 and 1983–84.[5] In the 2010–11 season Trabzonspor finished level on points to winners Fenerbahçe but were pushed into second on goal difference. The most important issue in the establishment of Trabzonspor was the colors of the club. Although a number of elaborate theories have been put forward as to why claret and blue was adopted, it transpires the club chose the colors in simple tribute to the famous and historic English club Aston Villa.
