Suzhou: What to Do in China's Venice of the East | GoPro Video
Today, we decided to bring our GoPro and wander through Suzhou, a city west of Shanghai, best known for its meticulously manicured gardens, romantic canals with arched stone bridges, pagodas, and temples dotted amongst the modern city elements.
Today, Suzhou is one of the largest and most prosperous industrial cities in China. It is also one of China’s most popular tourist destinations full of UNESCO World Heritage-listed sites. Prepare to be whisked away from the noise and chaos of the city to the peaceful symbolic life of the 'Venice of China'.
It makes a great one or two-day tour outside of Shanghai, being just one and a half hours by car or 25 minutes on the high-speed train.
This GoPro video shows you the five most important attractions you should visit to make the most of your trip to Suzhou:
- Shantang Old Street
- Humble Administrator's Garden

Suzhou Vacation Travel Video Guide
Travel video about destination Suzhou in China.
The famous discoverer Marco Polo called the Chinese city of Suzhou, 'The Venice of the East'. But Suzhou is more famous for its gardens. Beautiful bridges span across the canals while run down houses indicate the meagre financial resources of their inhabitants. The city's more impressive and elegant buildings date back to its long and glorious past, such as the town gate and Pan Men Wall. The Garden Of Politics For The Simple Man is one of the four most popular gardens in China and was designed according to the wishes of an important mandarin between the years 1522 and 1566. The Garden Of The Master Of The Nets is somewhat smaller, nevertheless it is considered to be a gem of Chinese garden design that dates back to the 12th century.Founded by Abbot Xu Taishi in the 16th century, The Garden Of Rest is also one of the country's most beautiful gardens. The Chinese garden is full of complex history and art that manifests itself as a sanctuary of simple harmony and peace and nowhere is this more true than in the gardens of Suzhou.

China Tours - Suzhou, China
Welcome to Suzhou, China.
A place often referred to by the locals as the Venice of the Far East.
A 2,500-year-old city which is renowned the world over for its traditional gardens, ancient canals and silk production.
In 1997 Suzhou's classic garden was designated an UNESCO World Heritage Site.
During the Ming Dynasty, the city flourished as a place of refinement, drawing an influx of the well to do. These individuals shaped the city of today by building these elegant gardens.
Developed as a synthesis of two Taoist concepts, the gardens hope to provide scenery and serenity:
The belief was that isolated meditation on nature would led one to enlightenment.
The Garden of the Master of Fishing Nets includes a lake, connecting corridors, pavilions, delicate latticework, and above all, points that frame a view, as if looking at a perfectly balanced photograph.
Your journey to Suzhou includes a tour the Silk Spinning Mill, where you learn how silk is created from the mulberry-munching silkworms. The silk produced here creates some of the finest thread used in all manner of items from fine art, clothing, and even the famous silk comforters.
Your journey continues with a visit to Tongli, a remarkably beautiful water town.
When you look at Tongli you might get a good idea of what Suzhou might have been like in the past.
Reminiscent of scenes from traditional Chinese paintings, it is complete with canals, stone bridges, and cobbled lanes. Your journey will take you on an exciting ride on a gondola. Where you will experience the charm of Tongli's waterways.
All of this, and much more is waiting for you. When you travel with China Spree.

Suzhou Silk Factory - Trip to China part 36 - Full HD Travel Video
China is known for its silk and Suzhou is most famous place for silk producing. This tour takes you to the No.1 Silk Factory in Suzhou founded in 1926 as a state-owned factory. With this tour, firstly you can get the knowledge of the whole life of a silkworm.
What is so amazing about the silk-making process is that the silkworm creates its cocoon out of a single silk thread that is continuous for approximately 3,600 feet. Among the processes, making cocoons to skeins is especially important. The workers operate machines that spin the silk filaments into skeins. One cocoon is attached to each spindle. This makes it better understood why the filament of each cocoon must be unbroken. Then you will see how the people produce silk with the old style machine, and the making process of hand made silk quilt. You can testify that these quilts are light as a feather and very warm and buy one if you like it.

China Vacation Travel Video Guide
Travel video about destination China.
China’s Imperial City is located in the centre of its ancient Middle Kingdom, a gigantic and inscrutable empire beyond the Great Wall. The Imperial City is entered through the Gates of Heavenly Peace. After seven years of construction, Ming Emperor Zhu Di moved into his newly-established palace complex in which over eight thousand people lived in almost a thousand rooms. The palace served as both a residential and governmental seat to the emperors of the Ming and Qing Dynasties. A stone’s throw away from the old Summer Palace is the Garden of Harmonious Unity that was the favourite garden of the Emperor’s household who retreated to its cool lakeside shores during the humid months of summer. Close to Badaling the Great Wall Of China extends majestically across misty mountains. It is the largest Man-made structure in the world and was erected to protect the country from invasion from the North. The gigantic wall represented the division of two very different cultures. On one side the Central Asian Nomads and on the other the highly developed civilisation of the emerging Chinese Empire. Shanghai is a Gigantic City and a meeting point of both east and west. The shoreline is without a doubt the city’s main focal point and is a combination of past, present and future and contains the historic monuments and eye catching buildings of a great city. Famous explorer Marco Polo referred to Suzhou as the ‘Venice of the East’, a city that is particularly famous for its gardens. Many of its extremely elegant buildings are remnants of a glorious past. Yunnan´s most famous site is the unique Stone Forest Of Shi Lin, a forest of rock that extends for 27,000 hectares. Hong Kong is a city of the superlative with glimmering skyscrapers that seem to take root in the sky and one elegant building after another with shining glass and hi-tech facades. China is a world within a world!
