Our full time traveling family visited Key West Florida and went out with Fury Key West on a full-day excursion. For all 6 of us, it was the first time we had been parasailing or snorkeling out in the deep water! Oh, and jet skiing, and dolphin watching too!
We were determined to collect moments and memories for our Christmas presents, so we gifted our family a full day trip out into Key West's beautiful ocean instead of 'stuff'.

Islamorada:
Islamorada, a Village of Islands, is an incorporated village in Monroe County, Florida, United States. It is located on the islands of Tea Table Key, Lower Matecumbe Key, Upper Matecumbe Key, Windley Key and Plantation Key in the Florida Keys.
The name Islamorada (Original meaning: Island Home after the Pinder family schooner of that name), newly nicknamed, The Purple Isle, came from early Spanish explorers in the area. Its pronunciation has been anglicized to eye-lah-moh-RA-da.
Islamorada was hit almost directly by the Labor Day Hurricane of 1935, causing 423 deaths. A memorial, including the ashes of over 300 victims, exists today at Overseas Highway mile marker 82.
Hall of Fame baseball player Ted Williams began visiting Islamorada in 1943 and for the next 45 years was the island's most well-known resident. After his retirement from baseball he became the national spokesman for Sears sporting goods and became renowned for his abilities as a fisherman. Over the decades, he hosted numerous celebrities at his Islamorada house and took them on local fishing trips. Williams’ residency in Islamorada ended in 1988 when he moved to Hernando, Florida. Williams cited the island’s increased development as his reason for leaving. He reportedly said that he knew it was time to leave when he could no longer make a left turn on to U.S. Route 1 because of the traffic.
The village was incorporated on November 4, 1997. Prior to this date, Islamorada was only considered to be on the island of Upper Matecumbe Key.
As of the 2010 census, the village had a total population of 6,119. As of 2009, the population recorded by the United States Census Bureau is 6,435.

Florida Keys, Visiting the Theater of the Sea in Islamorada.
The Theater of the Sea in Islamorada surely has an attractive force. Children love it!

The Florida Keys and the Highway that goes to the Sea
The Overseas Highway, sometimes called the Highway that Goes to Sea, is a modern wonder. It is the magic carpet by which visitors from Florida's mainland can cross countless coral and limestone islets through that special world of the Florida Keys.
The highway — the southernmost leg of U.S. 1 — follows a trail originally blazed in 1912 when Henry Flagler extended his Florida East Coast Railroad from Miami to Key West.
The highway was begun in the late 1930s & The Florida Keys — which now host more than three million visitors annually — became an easily accessible tourist destination by car and bus.
And what do these visitors see?
Key Largo
Key Largo, called the first of the Florida Keys, because of its northernmost location along the Florida Keys chain, is an hour's drive from South Florida's two major airports. Yet it is a world away.
Home to two state parks, a national park, a national marine sanctuary, Key Largo boasts some of the most fascinating botanical scenery in the state.
Also visit the 'African Queen, the boat made famous in the Humphrey Bogart film of the same name.
Islamorada
Our Village of Islands is situated between the saltwater wilderness of Everglades National Park in one direction and North America's only coral barrier reef and the deep blue waters of the Florida Straits in the other.
This might be the only place on Earth where it is possible to catch a sailfish in the morning, and then venture into the backcountry in pursuit of bonefish, permit, tarpon, snook and redfish in just inches of water.
With a fleet of highly-skilled recreational fishing captains, Islamorada's reputation as The Sport Fishing Capital of the World is well earned.
Marathon
This quaint tropical city is conveniently situated in the middle of the Keys island chain.
Located mainly on Vaca, Fat Deer, and Grassy Key, Marathon is a 10- mile-long family-oriented island community rooted in a heritage of fishing, and reflects the old-Keys lifestyle that residents, snowbirds and visitors enjoy so much.
It is maintaining this simple, seafaring tradition that has made Marathon so special, celebrated through the community's annual family-friendly seafood festivals.
Big Pine Key and the Lower Keys
If you've had enough of an overcrowded and weary world, the islands of the Lower Keys are the place for you.
Here, you can snorkel or dive over the Looe Key coral reef, ride a bicycle through Key Deer country, or take a fishing adventure in the back country or troll the deep blue waters beyond the reef.
At the end of the day, you can trade stories with family and friends at one of this area's tiki bars, RV parks, campgrounds, quaint resorts or licensed vacation homes. The Earthy fragrance of mangrove forests and wetlands is never far away.
Key West
Discover a city where real estate titles date back to the Kings of Spain.
Stroll the palm-lined streets and discover gingerbread mansions, tin-roofed conch houses, the John Audubon House and Ernest Hemingway's home.
Walk in the footsteps of Thomas Edison, Lou Gehrig, Harry Truman, and Tennessee Williams.
Gaze at the fabled treasure of the galleon Atocha. Discover tomorrow's fine art treasures by Key West's well-known and unknown artists

Biking in Key West Florida ????
I'm not a professional - I'm Just having fun - Key West, a U.S. island city, is part of the Florida Keys archipelago. It's also Florida's southernmost point, lying roughly 90 miles north of Cuba. Famed for its pastel-hued, conch-style houses, it’s a cruise-ship stop also accessible from the mainland via the Overseas Highway. It’s known more for its coral reefs – destinations for diving and snorkeling – than for its beaches - Key West Florida - 12/17/2018

At Molasses Reef Lighthouse on the Boat off Key Largo
This is about 7 miles out in the ocean at the closest reef to our marina. The waves were about 3 feet and it is always very windy out on the ocean. There's always a real nice breeze to keep you cool out on the water which is really nice in the hot Florida Keys. The boats you see are all anchored to white buoys at Molasses Reef. There are about 12 boats at the reef. The boats are diving boats. These people are diving on the reef. You can see the lighthouse that is on the reef. It's a steel frame lighthouse. The water is very clear and aqua out on the reef. There are patches of darker water and then patches of extremely clear water. We had just snorkeled in the water. We tied a rope on to us and snorkeled around the boat. The depth finder said it was 15 feet deep in this spot. I could see all the way down to the bottom of the ocean. I could see white sand with large piece of coral laying on the ocean floor. I could also see shells laying among the coral. I never saw any fish when I was snorkeling. The next day we went back out to this exact spot and the waves were much higher. So we just came back in with the boat. There are always waves out at this reef. I've never seen it real calm yet.
