Almost punch-drunk from the intensity that was Angola, I enter Botswana, a country very familiar to me. This episode begins at Shakawe, where the Okavango River enters Botswana, and from here will will follow its course until we find its end, some weeks away, somewhere in the Kalahari. In this episode we also visit the fabled Tsodilo Hills, last home of true San Bushmen, where I purchase some authentic bead necklaces for my daughters. I am joined by Kalahari writer and expert, Mike Main. This is part-16 of a 26-part series.

His quest is to find the source of the Okavango, deep in the highlands. He then carries with his a bottle of water from its source, all the way, deep into the Okavango Delta. In the final episode, in the final trickle in a riverbed, he then watches as his water disappears into the desert, deep in the Kalahari. An epic tale of overland adventure.

From Tsodilo Hills we return to Shakawe and the Okavango River, where it's time to feed that fish eagle. There we take a short break, work on the Land Cruiser, and begin our journey to follow the water as it flows from the panhandle into the delta itself. But the water level is very high. Will it be too high for us to find the Sellinda Spillway, and will the mud stop us in our tracks? This is part-18 of a 26-part series.

From the water-soaked tracks of the eastern Okavango, we head to Maun, the town that supports the tourist attractions of the Okavango. It's here that I am joined by my wife, Gwynn. From Maun airport we take a light aircraft to our old home in the swamps. As we continue further east, the track becomes more and more difficult to follow. It looks as if the water lever is higher than we expected, and could even be a record. Water, water everywhere, and it's all drinkable. The flood is beyond all expectations, and threatens the entire expedition as our path is repeatedly blocked. The convoy, lead by Kalahari expert Mike Main, is trying to reach the Selinda Spillway, a channel that only runs every ten years or more. But the tracks are meters under water. Among all the challenges we experience a real taste of African life. This is part-19 of a 26-part series.

Nunda lodge et le village de Lucas, Namibie
The village is a group of huts, surrounded by a hedge of branches, where just one family lives.
Lucas kindly accepted us to visit and film, even inside a hut.
Le village est en fait composé de quelques cases, entourées d'une haie de branchage, et n'abrite qu'une seule famille.
Lucas nous a permis d'y entrer et de filmer, même l'intérieur d'une case.
