The National Folk Museum is situated on the grounds of the Gyeongbokgung Palace in the district of Jongno District and uses replicas of historical objects to illustrate the folk history of the Korean people.[112] The National Palace Museum of Korea is also located on the grounds of the Gyeongbokgung Palace. Finally, the Seoul branch of the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, whose main museum is located in Gwacheon, opened in 2013, in Sogyeok-dong.

The War Memorial, one of nine municipal museums in Seoul, offers visitors an educational and emotional experience of various wars in which Korea was involved, including Korean War themes.[115][116] The Seodaemun Prison is a former prison built during the Japanese occupation, and is currently used as a historic museum.[117]
The Seoul Museum of Art and Ilmin Museum of Art have preserved the appearance of the old building that is visually unique from the neighboring tall, modern buildings. The former is operated by Seoul City Council and sits adjacent to Gyeonghuigung Palace, a Joseon dynasty royal palace. Leeum, Samsung Museum of Art, is widely regarded as one of Seoul's largest private museum. For many Korean film lovers from all over the world, the Korean Film Archive is running the Korean Film Museum and Cinematheque KOFA in its main center located in Digital Media City(DMC), Sangam-dong. Religious monuments
Myeongdong Cathedral
There are also religious buildings that take important roles in Korean society and politics. The Wongudan altar was a sacrificial place where Korean rulers held heavenly rituals since the Three Kingdoms period. Since the Joseon dynasty adopted Confucianism as its national ideology in the 14th century, the state built many Confucian shrines. The descendants of the Joseon royal family still continue to hold ceremonies to commemorate ancestors at Jongmyo. It is the oldest royal Confucian shrine preserved and the ritual ceremonies continue a tradition established in the 14th century. Sajikdan, Munmyo and Dongmyo were built during the same period. Although Buddhism was suppressed by the Joseon state, it has continued its existence. Jogyesa is the headquarters of the Jogye Order of Korean Buddhism. Hwagyesa and Bongeunsa are also major Buddhist temples in Seoul.

100 Icons of Korean Culture Ep50C03 Celebrating with Tteok
Tteok
Where there are Koreans, there is always tteok.
Tteok is a representative food of Korea. It is always present in Korean people's lives, right from birth. What does tteok mean to a Korean and what significance does it have in Korean people's lives? A seodang, or a traditional school, located at the foot of Jiri Mtn. in Hadong, South Gyeongsang Province is celebrating Chaekrye. It is the custom of serving tteok to reward the students' hard work upon completing a book. Tteok is traditionally made by steaming, hitting, frying or boiling, and these traditional methods are still used in a tteok village in Gangwon Province. To Koreans, tteok is a symbol of life and human relations. Indeed, there are many folk tales and proverbs that mention tteok. Different types of tteok represent different milestones in life and each hold its own meaning.
Regardless of the occasion, whether it is of joy, anger, sorrow or pleasure, tteok is always there, as a part of people's lives.

Vendor making bindae-tteok in Namdaemun Market
Of course, I didn't have time to try every single Korean street food (I tried!), but my favourite nibbles were the Korean pancakes called bindae-tteok, which when Koreans say it sounds like pindatok. These savoury cakes are made from mung beans, mung bean sprouts, ground pork, eggs, minced vegetables and sesame oil.
Hwaseong Fortress Part 1: Korean Rice Cakes, Fish Cakes, and the Museum
This is the first in a few videos in which I experiment with my new video editing software and camcorder.
A million years ago, back in highschool, I used to do video editing and camera work for TV production, but it feels like I'm a toddler screwing around with my dad's camera a lot of the time.
I will eventually open up a new channel for taking these videos, and ask for the help of some of the friends I've made here in Korea, but for now; enjoy my boss telling me the history of her hometown and various other things.
