Tucson Symphony Orchestra KinderKonzerts!
The KinderKonzerts! program brings more than 3,200 students and 150 teachers in grades K -- 2nd to the Tucson Symphony Center for performances by the TSO Chamber Orchestra. These 45-minute concerts utilize a variety of classical music to illustrate the annual theme, Music Tells a Story. The concert shows how music communicates with the listener to create a mood, sense of place, characters, and action, all to tell a story without words. The centerpiece of the performance is a musical enactment of a story by local author Susan Lowell, featuring the TSO String Quartet, with the music composed by Ilona Vukovic-Gay, TSO's Assistant Principal Violist.

In March 2015 Hanson will cap a twenty-year relationship with the Tucson Symphony as Music Director, concluding his tenure with performances of Der Rosenkavalier and Gustav Mahler’s Symphony No. 3, as well as a special performance of Das Lied von der Erde. George’s highlights with TSO include performing Mozart piano concerti (conducting from the keyboard), releasing the orchestra’s first-ever CD recording to international acclaim, and receiving the Certificate of Congressional Special Recognition from Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords for service to the community. We look back at his tenure and his commitment to music and Tucson.

PART 1/3 Kyrie Eleison Choir & Orchestra / FUMC Tucson / Conducted by Dr. Luke Lusted
I had the opportunity of performing on this concert Conducted By Luke Lusted, being a part of the Choir at the First United Methodist (Tucson, Az -USA) . The choir has sung many different pieces to praise the Lord as their first aim. On this concert they performed at the Good Friday´s service the Fauré Requiem accompanied by the Tucson Orchestra. As well as the conductor, which is a professional musician, there are some other professionals artists such as Seth Kershisnik, Ivette Ortiz and Steph Brink.
Kyrie Eleison (Greek for Lord have mercy; the Latin transliteration supposes a pronunciation as in Modern Greek) is a very old, even pre-Christian, expression used constantly in all Christian liturgies. Arrian quotes it in the second century: Invoking God we say Kyrie Eleison (Diatribæ Epicteti, II, 7).

My saga continues....and my saga is my son's saga. We have gone from ten years ago, when he decided to take up an instrument through school; followed the course of his practicing, learning, and intense pursuit of mastering his choice---the cello; and up through his series of performances---solo, and as part of his high school orchestras, including Tempe High and McClintock High. He made the most of all the experiences and opportunities that came from learning, performing, and sharing music, and his passion for it all. The current chapter finds our performer~composer~teacher in his freshman year, as cellist for The Arizona State University Symphony Orchestra. I was blessed enough to join his Mom, many wonderful and loyal friends, and all those who make it a point to support their hometown college symphony, for a thrilling debut program of Orchestral Masterworks, led by Dr. Timothy Russell. Featured here is the finale; a dynamic roller-coaster performance of Tchaikovky's breath-taking SYMPHONY No. 4 in F Minor. As you listen to the music, and hear and see the resulting applause, it was a special night for so many people. As I video-taped the sights and sounds, I just kept thinking how blessed and fortunate I was to have been there, and have a nice little camera that would capture it all, for posterity, and as a permanent reminder that even though life can be a rough ride to say the very least, it IS possible to bare witness to some things that are only beautiful, and only right. Here's a tiny, fleeting moment that hit me like a tsunami of pride and emotion, that will last me the rest of my life....E
