About the Florence to Rome by Bike Tour
The contrasts are very noticeable as you leave behind Tuscany and arrive in the peaceful and mystical Umbria. As you cycle approximately 290km you will see cities like Assisi, Perugia, Spoleto and Terni, displaying an incredible wealth of art treasures, which take their visitors back to the Middle Ages.
The cities have barely changed over the centuries and the rolling landscape dotted with vineyards and hilltop towns will give you an appreciation of why the area is so popular with painters.
On mostly backroads the route winds through the valleys of the Apennines and gentle hills near to Trasimeno Lake. At the end, the Eternal City of Rome awaits you, a fitting end to this exhilarating Italian journey by bike.

Cycling around Florence in Italy
Make the most of Florence by taking a City Cycle Tour. It is a quick way of covering a lot of distance at the same time as gaining local knowledge. Florence is one of Italy's flat cities and is ideal for riding a bike. Background music is Monks by Topher Mohr and Alex Elena.
Exploring Isolated Tuscany | Mountain Biking Italy
Looking to get away from the tourist areas, I go exploring Tuscany in Italy on an old rental mountain bike. I succeed in getting off from the beaten track, so well that the areas I end up in make me genuinely scared.

Tuscany on Bike by Raquel Cepeda
Some memories from my wonderful bike trip to the Tuscan area in Italy in September 2010. Nine days biking from Florence to the Island of Elba, going through Siena, San Gimigiano, and Volterra and then 3 days in Florence. Unforgettable times. Music by Last Penguin Cafe.
Cycling Italy : Leaving Rome and Onto Tuscany by Train
Time to head out of the city and into the countryside! Upcoming plans, the heat, and hills have us choosing the train (or was it the copious amounts of food we ate in ROMA??). We're excited to explore Tuscany, but first, we have to get there.
Miles Ridden: 7
Total Mileage: 27ish (I still haven't set up our bike computer haha)
(the bikes will have more time to rest in Tuscany as we explore the region with family and visiting friends...for sure we'll get in a few little cycle jaunts to local villages tho!)

Tuscany Bike Tour Video | Backroads
More than a destination, Tuscany is a sublime experience. Every viewpoint seems to be taken from the page of a picture book - Cypress-lined roads winding past endless vineyards flowing into the horizon. Sunsets that fill the sky. Winding country roads so perfect for biking it's as though they were designed for this purpose alone. Pedal through medieval villages and past elegant farmhouses and villas. Savor the wines and local delicacies that linger in your mind long after you've returned home. It's no wonder that Tuscany captures the heart of every traveler fortunate enough to pass through this magnificent region of Italy.
