Postage stamps and postal history of the United States
The history of postal service of the United States began with the delivery of stampless letters, whose cost was borne by the receiving person, later also encompassed pre-paid letters carried by private mail carriers and provisional post offices, and culminated in a system of universal pre-payment that required all letters to bear nationally issued adhesive postage stamps.
In the earliest days, Ship captains arriving in port with stampless mail would advertise in the local newspaper names of those having mail and for them to come collect and pay for it, if not already paid for by the sender. Postal delivery in the United States was a matter of haphazard local organization until after the Revolutionary War, when eventually a national postal system was established. Stampless letters, paid for by the receiver, and private postal systems, were gradually phased out after the introduction of adhesive postage stamps, first issued by the U.S. government post office July 1, 1847 in the denominations of five and ten cents, with the use of stamps made mandatory in 1855.

1st Amendment Audit,Gougers market brattleboro vt customer assaults an auditor twice
On January 21st 2020 I was conducting a first Amendment Audit outside of Gougers Market on Canal Street in Brattleboro Vermont. I had been to that location on 3 different occasions. Mostly with negative results from both staff of the market and their customers ranging from Verbal assaults to being physically assaulted. The Clerk on duty had committed a battery on me the previous summer when I was conducting a 1st Amendment Audit at Gougers Market by throwing a water bottle into my face. The police were called at that time and she was cited with disorderly conduct. Normally I would have ended it there but her family for months after started a media campaign of Libel on social networking sites. The Clerk had seemed to had learned her lesson in the 1st amendment asides from a Cam back. I was getting ready to leave and was walking up Canal Street when a Customer leaving the store began flipping out and began to cuss at me as seen in the video. I quickly told him to not talk to me as I did not want to engage him. He then threatened to call the cops to which I told him that was fine to do so, He then threatened to physically harm me if I did so. Him and I exchanged words until he then began charging towards me and I had my camera pointing away at that point as I was backing up trying to escape his menacing advancement. He then cussed me out again and made more threats I told him to leave me alone or he would go to jail. You can see on the video he advanced towards me again at this point I tripped and fell over backwards on a small snowbank. After he left I ended the Audit and went home. I called the Brattleboro Pd and reported the incident. As of 1/22/220 no officer has called me back or even stopped by to take the report even though their dispatcher said they would send an office out, The man who made the threats and got in my face committed two accounts of assault according to Vermont law Statute Title 13 Chapter 019 subchapter 004 1023 simple assault defines it in three ways and number 3 says attempts by physical menace to put another in fear of imminent serious bodily injury. I ask you to please comment like on my video and to subscribe to my channel. I want to give a big shout out and thank you to fellow first amendment auditor nasty nathanial for inspiring me to make these videos please check out his channel here
Also a big thank you to Auditing America for their knowledge on the law check out their channel here

Presented by: W. Robert Connor, two events 3/22/11, 7PM & 3/23/11, 1PM - Provide by GVSU's Hauenstein Center for Presidential Studies and the Department of Classics.
W. Robert Connor came to the New York-based Teagle Foundation as its president in early 2003, re-affirming the Foundation's long-standing commitment to higher education, and re-focusing it on improving student learning in the liberal arts and sciences. His belief that such learning can--and must--be brought to a much higher level is reflected in the Foundation's grant initiatives in Value-Added Assessment, Fresh Thinking for Liberal Education, Big Questions of Meaning and Value, and College-Community Connections. (These programs are described on the Foundation's website teagle.org, which is designed to provide ideas and know-how about strengthening liberal education, as well as to offer information about the Foundation's grantmaking.)
Bob retired as president of the Foundation at the end of 2009, but continues to serve as its senior advisor.
Bob was born in Worcester, Massachusetts, graduated from Hamilton College, and after a stint in Oxford, received his PhD in Classics from Princeton in 1961. A few years later, he returned to Princeton, where he taught and administered until 1989, when he became the president and director of the National Humanities Center in the Research Triangle Park of North Carolina. He lives in Hillsborough, North Carolina with his Byzantinist wife, Carolyn Connor. He holds honorary degrees from several colleges and is a fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and the American Philosophical Society.

SUMMARY
=======
The history of postal service of the United States began with the delivery of stampless letters, whose cost was borne by the receiving person, later also encompassed pre-paid letters carried by private mail carriers and provisional post offices, and culminated in a system of universal prepayment that required all letters to bear nationally issued adhesive postage stamps. Stampless letters, paid for by the receiver, and private postal systems, were gradually phased out after the introduction of adhesive postage stamps, first issued by the U.S. government post office July 1, 1847, in the denominations of five and ten cents, with the use of stamps made mandatory in 1855.
The issue and use of adhesive postage stamps continued during the 19th century primarily for first class mail. Each of these stamps generally bore the face or bust of an American president or another historically important statesman. However, once the Post Office realized during the 1890s that it could increase revenues by selling stamps as collectibles, it began issuing commemorative stamps, first in connection with important national expositions, later for the anniversaries of significant American historical events. Continued technological innovation subsequently prompted the introduction of special stamps, such as those for use with airmail, zeppelin mail, registered mail, certified mail, and so on. Postage due stamps were issued for some time and were pasted by the post office to letters having insufficient postage with the postage due to be paid to the postal carrier at the receiving address.
Today, stamps issued by the post office are self-adhesive, and no longer require that the stamps be licked to dissolve the glue on their back. In many cases, post office clerks now use Postal Value Indicators (PVI), which are computer labels, instead of stamps.Where for a century-and-a-half or so, stamps were almost invariably denominated with their values (5 cent, 10 cent, etc.) the United States post office now sells non-denominated forever stamps for use on first-class and international mail. These stamps are still valid even if there is a rate increase. However, for other uses, adhesive stamps with denomination indicators are still available and sold.

Amtrak Vermonter 57 over Falls River Bridge
Update: I just noticed the last Amfleet says Northeast Regional. Interesting.
I had seen on the Heritage Unit Tracker app that Amtrak 184 was on the Vermonter. I was in New York, so I planned to see it in Holyoke. Right when I was leaving, I checked the real time and it was running 2 hours late. I did a lot of Google Earth scouting of the Vermonter line north of Holyoke so we wouldn't have to wait as long, and I found this. The Falls River Bridge is located right off the highway in Bernardston, Massachusetts. Unfortunately, 184 wasn't on, but I caught a double-header! This is my 2nd to last video of 2017.

Driving on Entire Length of North Carolina Highway 183
North Carolina Highway 183 (NC 183) is a primary state highway in the U.S. state of North Carolina. It traverses from US 221, in the community of Linville Falls, to NC 181, near the community of Jonas Ridge.
The route serves mainly as a connector between Linville Falls and the rest of Burke County; it also serves as an alternate route to the Blue Ridge Parkway, which parallels the route. The route also has access to the Linville Falls and Gorge Wilderness Area. Part of the route is shared with NC Bike Route 2.
Where NC 183 begins, it is flanked by nearby McDowell and Avery counties. The highway also crosses briefly into McDowell county twice, in two short successions, in Linville Falls. Nearly halfway along the highway, a spur road from the Blue Ridge Parkway does a fly-over above the highway
