Twister Movie Museum Wakita Oklahoma
Journey to Wakita Oklahoma to visit Twister the Movie Museum. Wakita Oklahoma is the main town used by Universal pictures to film Twister the movie. The town of less than 500 in central Oklahoma was destroyed with Hollywood magic to simulate what a town could look like after a major storm and Tornado Twister. Twister the movie was released in 1996 and retained a large fan based which supports the Twister Movie Museum in Wakita Oklahoma. Twister the movie museum is open during summer months and the main attraction in Wakita Oklahoma. There's not much in Wakita in the northern central part of Oklahoma just south of the Kansas state line. Each anniversary year storm chasers and tourist return to the small town of Wakita to celebrate the anniversary of Twister the movie.
HIghly recommend visiting - Twister the movie museum especially if you are a fan. As seen in video, you'll get to see propos and an actual Dorothy used in the filming of Twister the movie and behind the scenes items from the filming which consumed the town during the filming of the movie. Wakita is a very remote and the perfect place illustrating what it's like for a small town that is susceptible to tornadoes and severe storms.
Linda featured in video, who runs the museum, is a wealth of knowledge and was also an extra during the filming of Twister the movie. Linda greets visitors and shares the experiences

Canton, Oklahoma funnel cloud May 24th 2011
Footage of strong rotation and funnel cloud developing from wall cloud beneath supercell 2 miles east of Canton, Oklahoma, around 3:15pm on 24th May 2011. This may or may not have later developed into the EF3 tornado reported near Canton Lake, but we were blocked out by trees and road network from studying this development further.

Trucks from the 1996 movie Twister;1996 Dodge Ram 2500 V8 4x4(red)1989 Chevy Suburban V2500 Dually
These are the star Trucks from the 1996 movie Twister.
The red one is the 1996 Dodge Ram 2500 V8 4x4
While the black one is a 1989 Chevrolet Suburban V2500 4x4 5.7 liter 350 Dually.
As for the Suburban;
1990 Chevrolet Suburban V2500 4x4 350 5.7 Dually from the 1996 movie Twister
This Suburban as of now is own by a person who lives in West Virginia.
This Suburban has InstaTrac four-wheel drive with two-speed dual range transfer gearbox and permanent 50/50 torque distribution in Four High and Four Low modes.
The dual rear wheels are a custom addition, using the original GM equipment fender extensions from a 30 Series dully pickup. No Suburban utility left the factory like that. A off road light bar, running boards, and utility bumper with integrated fog lamps and winch (of unknown make and capacity) are also added.
May have rear-wheel anti-lock braking system (ABS) which was added for the 1990 model year. It is automatically disabled when the four-wheel drive system is put into Four High or Four Low mode.
Engine is a 5.7 liter 350 V8 Regular Combustion.
Also, here is a story from the person who I talked to that owns the Suburban;
''Long story short it was bought through craigslist from a guy who worked on the set whose name is on the movie credits, he got it and the trailer after the movie, he said he sold the trailer to planet hollywood and kept the suburban where it was in California until he moved here to Oklahoma, the truck was in a state of decline when I got it do to the fact it sat outside for many years and was not used much, it has since been brought back the way it was in the movie other than I had to change the rear bumper do to damage and I left the antenna's off the roof for now, I took it to the original owners home after the restore and he gave me the prop Oklahoma licence plate that was on it in the movie and his wife gave me a twister jacket that only the people on the set got, they were real nice people, the truck still has the camera mounts mounted under the running boards
