Udai Sagar Lake is another striking lake under the category of five lakes of Udaipur. Udaisagar Lake is located at a distance of about 13 kms in the east of Udaipur. The construction of this lake was started in 1559 by Maharana Udai Singh and got completed in 1565. Udai Sagar Lake extends to 4 km in length 2.5 km in width and deep to the extent of 9 meters at the maximum. Actually, Udai Sagar Lake was the result of a dam that took its start in 1559.

Udaisagar Lake
Udaisagar Lake, one of the five prominent lakes of Udaipur, is situated around 13 km in the east of Udaipur. This lake was built by Maharana Udai Singh in 1565. Udai Sagar Lake is around 4 km in length, 2.5 km in width and 9 meters deep at the maximum.It is fed by the Ahar River.

Udaipur is famous around the world as the City Of Lakes or the Venice of The East. Pichola, Fateh Sagar, Udai Sagar and Swaroop Sagar lakes in this city are considered some of the most beautiful in the state. Fateh Sagar contains two small islands; one with the Udaipur Solar Observatory (one of the six stations participating in the international Global Oscillations Network Group (GONG) which is aimed at the determination of the physical properties of the solar interior) and one with the beautiful Nehru Garden.
Udaipur is well connected to the world through land, rail and air. It is known for its Rajput-era palaces. Particularly famous is the Lake Palace, which entirely covers a small island in the Pichola Lake. Lake Palace is one of the many palaces in Rajasthan that has been converted into a luxury hotel. उदयसागर झील की कहानी
उदय सागर झील का नाम सुनते ही मेरे मन में और शायद हर इतिहास प्रेमी के मन में मेवाड़ के गौरवशाली इतिहास की उस निर्णायक घटना का स्म्मरण हो उठता होगा जिसमे कुलाभिमानी और स्वतंत्रता प्रेमी महाराणा प्रताप ने मुग़ल सम्राट के प्रतिनिधि बनकर आये जयपुर के युवराज मानसिंह के साथ भोजन करने से इनकार कर दिया था जिसकी परिणिति विश्व प्रसिद्द हल्दीघाटी युद्ध के रूप में हुई|
कहते है की महाराणा प्रताप को और अपनी अधीनता स्वीकारने के लिए अकबर ने जयपुर के कुंवर मानसिंह को बहोत सारी सेना के साथ भेजा था जून १५७२ में मानसिंह यहाँ पंहुचा और उसने काफी प्रयास किये की महाराणा,अकबर की अधीनता स्वीकार कर ले किन्तु उसके सभी प्रयास निष्फल हुवे तथा उसके रवाना होने से पहले महाराणा ने उसकी विदाई में उदयसागर पर एक भोज का आयोजन किया जिसमे मानसिंह को लेकर कुंवर अमर सिंह वहा गए किन्तु स्वयं महाराणा उस भोज में सम्मिलित नहीं हुवे | जब मानसिंह ने महाराणा के नहीं आने का कारण पूछा तो कुंवर अमर सिंह ने कहा की महाराणा के पेट में दर्द है इस पर तैश में आकर मानसिंह ने कहा मै इस पेट के दर्द की दवा खूब जानता हु, अब तक तो मैंने आपकी भलाई चाही थी मगर अब आप सावधान रहना इस पर कुलाभिमानी महाराणा ने कहलवाया की जो आप खुद सैन्य सहित आवोगे तो हम आप का मालपुरे में स्वागत करेंगे और जो अपने फूफा अकबर के बल पर आवोगे तो जहा मौक़ा मिलेगा वही आपका स्वागत करेंगे| और मानसिंह के जाने पर उस भोजन को यवन संपर्क से दूषित समझ कर उदयसागर में फिकवा दिया और वहा की जमीन को खुदवा कर उस पर गंगा जल छिड़कवा दिया इस घटना के बाद ही इतिहास प्रसिद्द हल्दीघाटी का युद्ध हुवा था जिसमे मानसिंह महाराणा प्रताप के भाले के वार से बाल बाल बचा था |
उदय सागर झील उदयपुर से ६ मील पूर्व में है |इस झील की लम्बाई २.५ मील और चोडाई २ मील है इस पर १८० फूट चौड़ा बाँध बनाया गया है इस झील का निर्माण महाराणा उदयसिंह जी ने करवाया था उदयसागर की नीव १५५९ में रखी गई तथा इसकी समाप्ति १५६४ में हुई थी|इसके निर्माण में कुल ५ वर्ष लगे थे स्थानीय निवासियों के अनुसार इस बाँध पर बना हुवा उदयश्याम मंदिर और संकट मोचन हनुमान जी का मंदिर भी उसी काल में बना हुवा है |और कहते है की इस बाँध के ऊपर स्थित पहाड़ी पर एक साधू निवास करते थे उनकी प्रेरणा पर उदय सिंह जी ने बाँध के आस ही एक भैरूजी के मंदिर,डबोक में धुनी माता के मंदिर और नांदवेल में शिवजी के मंदिर की स्थापना की थी |
इस बाँध के बंद से निकलने वाले नाले के ऊपर दो मंदिर बने हुवे है जिनकी सुन्दरता देखते ही बनती है किन्तु सरंक्षण के अभाव में वो जीर्ण शीर्ण अवस्था में पड़े है | बड़ा दुःख होता है ये देख कर की इतने एतिहासिक मंदिरों में से एक पर और उदय श्याम मंदिर जिसके गुम्बज पर गजब की मूर्तिकारी उकेरी गई है पर सफ़ेद चुना पोत दिया गया है जिससे उसकी मौलिक सुन्दरता लुप्त सी हो गई है और झील के किनारे बैठे कुछ स्थानीय लोगो ने बताया की कुछ वर्ष पूर्व तक उदय श्याम मंदिर के सम्मुख एक विशाल धातु निर्मित गरुड़ प्रतिमा थी जो चोरी हो गई जिसकी जगह वर्तमान में स्थापित पाषाण प्रतिमा स्थापित कर दी गई |
इस झील में गोगुन्दा से निकलने वाली आयड नदी का पानी आता है जो की इस झील से निकलने के बाद बेडच नदी के नाम से पुकारी जाती है और यहाँ से चित्तोड तक इस नदी का प्रवाह उत्तर पूर्व दिशा में होता है और १९० किलोमीटर बहाने के बाद बिन्गोद के समीप बनास नदी में मिल जाती है |इस झील के बाँध से निकलते नाले के पास ही महाराणा जगत सिंह जी (१६२८-१६५२) ने महल बनवाये थे| महाराणा राज सिंह जी (१६५२-१६८०) के समय औरंगजेब ने यहाँ बने तीन मंदिरों को गिरवा दिया था| महाराणा फ़तेह सिंह जी ने उदय सागर के पश्चिम में लकडवास ग्राम में स्थित मेडी मगरी पर आखेट उपरान्त विश्राम हेतु उदयनिवास महल बनवाये थे|कहते है की महल के चारो तरफ पहाडियों में स्टेट टाइम की ८ से ९ शिकार की बुर्ज भी बनी हुई है जिनमे से ५ तो मैंने तलाश कर ली देखते है आप कितनी कर पाते है

Udaipur is a beautiful city in the Indian state Rajasthan. Located in the southernmost part of the state, the city is also termed as “city of lakes” as it is surrounded by seven lakes. Five most famous among them are Fatehsagar Lake, Lake Pichola, Swaroop Sagar Lake, Rangsagar, and Doodh Talali Lake. Founded in the year 1558, by Maharana Udai Sing II, the city was the capital of Mewar Kingdom after Chittorgarh was captured by Mughal ruler Akbar. It is surrounded by Aravali mountain ranges which separate it from Thor desert.
The best time to visit this city is from September to March.
