BeAlive - RJ Ripper - Full Film - Nepal MTB Champion
Rajesh Magar (RJ) learned to ride a bike at 10 years old, getting lost in the streets of outer Kathmandu. He rode his first technical trails on a bike he made himself with scraps, including; a scooter spring for suspension and piece of plumbing. His riding earned him attention on the mountain and eventually brought him the opportunity to compete and provide for his family. He has gone on to become consecutive four time national champion in Nepal.
RJ’s story is one of boundless dreaming and unstoppable determination, forged from junkyard scraps and tested on the rugged trails of the mighty Himalaya.
Since its premiere, RJ Ripper has been featured at film festivals across North America, including 5Point, Fresh Coast and most recently Banff International Film Festivals.

A walk to Tilicho Lake and Mesokanto Pass, NEPAL - 2017 • Day 19-21
I crossed Kang-La Pass from Naar-Phu Valley down to Ngawal near Manang village. It was the first day of the festive season in Nepal, Dashain and Tihar.
On this section of the trek, I am now in the centre of Manang District. I walked to Manang slowly due to the extreme blisters I had accumulated from long-hours of walking in the last 18 days.
I get as much experience I can from the local people about the Mesokanto Pass, over Tilicho Lake towards Jomsom. There is no fear or doubts in my mind anymore. I am confident I would make it safe the next day. Cross the pass and arrive Jomsom the same day.
Seeing the glacial lake of Tilicho was such an over-whelming feeling. The lake was at an elevation of 4900m. Deep blue in colour, I was awed by its beauty in the cold calling of the night.
I knew a little about Mesokanto Pass during my planning phase so my initial plan was to reach the lake and get back down to Khangsar and up towards Thorang-La, as done by many trekkers. While I was in Manaslu section, I heard more about Mesokanto Pass. I knew it feasible this time of the year. It would also save me 2-3 days.
The only problem. I was alone. It didn't bothered me. I was long zoned-out.
-
I had wanted to trek across Nepal since the days I went for my first trek in Langtang Valley and Gosaikund. As I did more studies on walks across the country, I came across the Great Himalayan Trail and it had been stuck in my mind ever since, 2015.
As I did more visual research, it was not possible for me to find a good record of somebody who had done it. I had read alot of journals and stories but videos were very hard to find.
My plan was to film as much as possible with regard to my safety on the trail as I would be alone most of the time. I didn't know how I would make the story but filming the most out of the trail was my only idea. I wanted to document the trek.
The idea of narrating came during the editing process...

Earthquake Diaries From Nepal-Part 1 7.3 On Arrival
It’s been 2 years since the first of several earthquakes and tremors terrorized the Himalayan nation of Nepal. It was April 25th, 2015 at 11:56am local time when a magnitude 7.8 earthquake struck the country. It was followed by several hundred aftershocks and another 7.3 tremor on May 12 that in total killed nearly 9,000 people and injured over 22,000 leaving many homeless. To this day thousands are still not living in a permanent home. Having visited the country on several occasions over the years when I first heard the news of the devastation I thought I should plan a trip to see first-hand how severely damaged the country was and it’s tourism infrastructure. I knew that the media reports of a ruined tourism industry would have a huge impact on the nation and it’s people that desperately rely on tourists to earn a living. I also wanted to encourage other people to visit the country either through volunteering to help with the recovery or once the situation had stabilized, make their own travel plans to Nepal, as this is one of the most effective ways to help the country rebuild. My flight was due to arrive at Kathmandu’s Tribhuvan Airport May the 12th at 2pm. Approximately 1 hour before we were due to land the pilot announced another earthquake had struck Nepal and our descent would be delayed until crews finished a runway safety check. The plane went completely silent, passengers mostly all Nepalis returning home for the first time since the devastation, fearing more loss. This documentary series, comprised of recorded live streams, apologies for the inferior quality, along with regular footage I captured is my diary of the 20 days I spent in Nepal during some of the most desperate moments in the country’s history. After 90 minutes of circling the Kathmandu Valley on May 12, 2015 we were finally cleared for landing. This is where my story begins. I would love to get your feedback on the podcast either by email to john@fareastadventuretravel.com or just message me on the Far East Adventure Travel Facebook page. Bringing Mountainbike to Nepal (www.wheels4nepal.ch)
In the year 2015 Manuel Scheidegger improved the hourly world record in the wheelie - driving on a bicycle to 25.7 km. The aim of the worldrecord on a 400m track in Thun was to collect donations for Nepal. More specifically, for the reconstruction after the devastating earthquake of 2015 and for street children in Pokhara, the second largest city in the country. A total of 35,000 Swiss francs were invested.
In October 2016, Mänu Scheidegger wanted to see for himself how the bike project had started. What he saw was very positive. The young people go daily biking and are enthusiastic about it. Manuel taught in driving technique and repair-work and enjoyed a few rides on the trails around Pokhara.

The HIGHEST POINT in Tanahu - Chimkeswari and Hilekharka, Hiking in Nepal
Well, this might be our most delayed video ever. Back in November of 2018, we visited the holy Chimkeshwari Temple and accidentally discovered a beautiful Gurung village, Hilekharka on our way to Bandipur.
Due to a few technical issues, we had been pushing the publish date of this video but finally its here. Both the sunrise and sunset from Chimkeswari is epic. Though short, this trip offers scenic views of the mountains and close glance of the traditional Gurung culture and people.
Special Thanks to Trishna Gurung for giving us the permission to use the cover of her song, Khani ho Yahmu, Dhan Gurung Maila Dai and friends for the Gurung Language Translation, Simma and her team for the beautiful cover, Devilal Baje and Batu Aama for the wonderful hospitality.
Please contact them if you plan to visit Chhimkeswari and Hilekharka

Flying over Everest in Nepal
this sight-seeing flight out of Kathmandu to Mount Everest. Round trip time was about 90 minute . Mount Everest or Mount Chomolungma, is the world's highest mountain above sea level at 8,848 metres (29,029 ft). It is located in the Himalayas on the Nepal (Sagarmatha Zone)-China (Tibet) border.
In 1856, the Great Trigonometric Survey of British India established the first published height of Everest, then known as Peak XV, at 29,002 ft (8,840 m). In 1865, Everest was given its official English name by the Royal Geographical Society upon recommendation of Andrew Waugh, the British Surveyor General of India at the time, who named it after his predecessor in the post, and former chief, Sir George Everest.[4] Chomolungma had been in common use by Tibetans for centuries, but Waugh was unable to propose an established local name because Nepal and Tibet were closed to foreigners.
The highest mountain in the world attracts many well-experienced mountaineers as well as novice climbers who are willing to pay substantial sums to professional mountain guides to complete a successful climb. The mountain, while not posing substantial technical climbing difficulty on the standard route (other eight-thousanders such as K2 or Nanga Parbat are much more difficult), still has many inherent dangers such as altitude sickness, weather and wind.
By the end of the 2008 climbing season, there had been 4,102 ascents to the summit by about 2,700 individuals.[5] Climbers are a significant source of tourist revenue for Nepal, whose government also requires all prospective climbers to obtain an expensive permit, costing up to US $ 25,000 per person.[6] By the end of 2009 Everest had claimed 216 lives,[5] including eight who perished during a 1996 storm high on the mountain. Conditions are so difficult in the death zone (altitudes higher than 8,000 m/26,246 ft) that most corpses have been left where they fell. Some of them are visible from standard climbing routes.
you can take this sight-seeing flight out frm Kathmandu to Mount Everest. Round trip time is about 90 minutes.
