HIKING KE CANOPY TERTINGGI DI HUTAN ALAMI ULU TEMBURONG | Brunei #2

Di video kali ini kami akan berbagi video perjalanan kami saat menjeajah Salah satu hutan alami di Brunei Darussalam.
Di Brunei Darussalam bukan hanya ada masjid yang megah. Setelah melewati sungai yang mengalir di perbatasan 2 negara Brunei dan Malaysia dengan perahu selama 1 jam hingga sampai kota Bangar, lanjut perjalanan darat sejauh puluhan kilometer menuju dermaga perahu kayu di Batang Duri, menyambung lagi dengan perahu kayu kecil selama belasan menit menyusuri sungai menuju ke dalam Taman Nasional Ulu Temburong yang menjadi satu-satunya akses masuk ke dalam hutan, lanjut hiking dan treking ke dalam hutan sejauh beberapa kilometer, kemudian dilanjutkan dengan memanjat tower setinggi 42 meter setara dengan 21 lantai dan finally bisa sampai ke Canopy Walk tertinggi di negara Brunei ini. Perjuangan yang layak untuk bisa menikmati pemandangan hutan yang masih alami dengan udara yang begitu segar seperti ini.
Banyak aktivitas di luar ruangan (outdoor) yang bisa dilakukan disini mulai dari berenang di Sungai Temburong yang masih alami, menikmati hijaunya pepohonan sembari menikmati beragam hewan yang ada di sekitar hingga menantang adrenalin dengan mengikuti river tubing dengan ban untuk menyusuri sungai Temburong yang masih sangat alami, bersih dan segar. Dengan pemandangan kedua sisinya masih hutan alami menambah sensasi petualangan yang luar biasa. Sesampainya di titik berhenti untuk river tubing kita bisa melanjutkan perjalanan menyusuri jalan setapak masuk ke dalam hutan untuk menuju air terjun kecil yang di dalam kolamnya terdapat banyak ikan kecil. Ikan kecil disini umumnya yang biasa digunakan untuk fish teraphy/fish message dimana mereka akan memakan sel-sel kulit mati di kaki yang tentunay memberikan sensasi spa dan terapi yang menyenangkan karena kita melakukannya langsung di tengah hutan yang masih alami. Facing Fears at Ulu Ulu Resort in Temburong National Park in Brunei (Borneo)
Ulu Ulu Resort in Temburong National Park in Brunei (Borneo). Our stay was at the Ulu Ulu Resort in Temburong National Park, found deep in Brunei's Bornean Rainforest, was part of a wider project Fanfan took on in facing her fears in Borneo. Where we spent two night and three days at Ulu Ulu resort coming face-to-face with all sorts of wildlife and creepy crawlies. And while there it possible to visit on a quick day trip, from the Brunei's capital Bandar Seri Begawan, I will forever recommend at least one night at the Ulu Ulu Resort (packages shown here). Not just to have the full Borneon experience, but because it really is quite a journey to get there in the first place.
At the start of 2014 I made a promise to myself to overcome my fear of creepy crawlies. While in the back of my mind I hoped this resolution would pass, when it came bundled last minute with a once in a lifetime opportunity it was impossible to say no to. This last minute opportunity came from Microsoft Lumia with their #makeithappen campaign who promised to fulfil my unmet resolution by sending me deep into the rainforests of Borneo which, when it comes to creepy crawlies, few places are quite as terrifying. So the challenge begins in Brunei as I touch down in the capital of Bandar Seri Begawan. It is a compilation of our experiences that we want to share with our friends and family and maybe those wanting to see/visit BSB and the National park.
Tips for one day trip to Ulu Temburong National park:
1. have a good night sleep before the trip. It may get tiring (approx time from 7:45 to 16:00)
2. wear your swimming suits (this would be handy when at the waterfall).
3. have 2 pairs of shoes or only one pair if you don't mind them getting wet. One pair will get wet when going to the waterfall. You could also wear flip-flops, but it is not the most comfortable or safest way to walk. The first 5-10 min of the walk to the towers is muddy and slippery while the walkway to the waterfall has a lot of stones.
4. Do not take a big backpack with you. A small day pack would be perfect. Take only essentials like camera and a dry bag for it, small sunscreen, insect repellant, and water. You could also take a small travel towel to dry yourself if you are going to swim in the waterfall.
5. If your clothes get wet you can change them when you are back to the camp. If you do not like the feeling of wet clothes take something to change. Do not overpack.

Welcome to Ulu Temburong National Park
Ulu Temburong National Park, located in the heart of a 500-sq-km area of pristine rainforest covering most of southern Temburong, is a highlight of a visit to Brunei. It's odd that a small country such as Brunei should contain such a sizeable chunk of true untamed wilderness. Only about 1 sq km of the park is accessible to tourists, who are only admitted as part of guided-tour packages. To protect it, the rest is off-limits to everyone except scientists, who flock here from around the world. Permitted activities include a canopy walk, some short jungle walks and swimming in the cool mountain waters of Sungai Temburong.

Drilling team from both Brunei Shell Petroleum (BSP) and KCA Deutag spent a day in Temburong District, Brunei.
Everyone gathered at Subok Jetty, Kg Kebun Bridge (Bandar Seri Begawan) for registration and briefing prior to departure.
Ended our day with dinner at Milennium Restaurant, Beribi.

Had a morning tea before departing using a long boat for Ulu Temburong National Park. Climb the canopy walk and experience the breathtaking view of the rainforest. We also visited a small waterfalls before heading back to the lodge for lunch.
We used the tour company Freme for the day tour.

Had an overnight trip to Ulu Temburong National Park and stayed at the resort for my birthday getaway. I have never been to the national park before this though I have been recommending this place to my international friends (what a shame, I know! LOL). So now, I have been here!!!
Quite a last minute and compulsive decision as I decided to join Sunshine Borneo for their 2D1N package. Highly recommended as it includes accommodation, meals and transportation, as well as activities: canopy walk, water-tubing, kayaking, night wildlife walk, waterfall trekking and fish spa!
Will be writing a travelogue on this and shall update this YouTube description with the link :)
