Snow Covered W.B. Umstead State Park, Raleigh, NC
W.B. Umstead State Park, February 2014. William B. Umstead State Park is a North Carolina state park in Wake County, North Carolina in the United States. It covers 5,439 acres (22.01 km2) nestled between the expanding cities of Raleigh, Cary, and Durham, North Carolina. It offers hiking, bridle, and bike trails, boat rentals, camping, picnic areas, and educational programs.
Tucked between the growing cities of Raleigh, Cary, Durham and the corporate world of Research Triangle Park is an oasis of tranquility, a peaceful haven.
Here, two worlds merge as the sounds of civilization give way to the unhurried rhythm of nature. Highways fade in the distance as trees, flowers, birds and streams form a more natural community. William B. Umstead is a place to escape the pressures of everyday life, a place to picnic in the pines, to wait for a fish to bite, to take a hike or horseback ride on trails through the woods.
Divided into two sections, Crabtree Creek and Reedy Creek, this 5,579-acre park is easily accessible from Interstate 40 and US 70. Visit William B. Umstead State Park and enjoy this region of wilderness at the city's doorstep.

Thanksgiving Trip to Raleigh, North Carolina 2019 | 4K
Thanksgiving is always a great time to spend with family and friends. This year we decided to visit our friend Jenkins in Raleigh, North Carolina. We embarked on the 12HR drive from Miami to Raleigh. We decided to leave a night to avoid any traffic. We arrived to Raleigh, North Carolina around 9am and surprised our friend Jenkins. We spend the day catching up and prepping food for the next day.
On Thanksgiving day, we decided to visit William B.Umstead State Park. The scenery was stunning. Seeing the trees change color as we change seasons is something I miss from living in the North East. After visiting the park, we headed to Jenkins house.
To our surprise, Jenkins and family had prepared many of those traditional dishes we grew up with. We had an amazing time!!!!!!
The next day we visited the Duke Gardens with Jenkins and his family. It was beautiful and relaxing. The kids enjoyed playing in the big lawn. After we walked to the Duke Cathedral, and enjoy the amazing architecture and details of this old church.
From there Jenkins took us to Downtown Durham to a great Pizza spot, Pizzeria Toro where we enjoy so amazing pizzas and dishes. The best way to end our trip.
The next morning we checked out of our hotel, Aloft. Great hotel, excellent service, we couldn't be happier. Thank you Aloft.

If the mechanical energy is used directly by machinery, such as for pumping water, cutting lumber or grinding stones, the machine is called a windmill. If the mechanical energy is instead converted to electricity, the machine is called a wind generator, wind turbine, wind turbine generator (WTG), wind power unit (WPU), wind energy converter (WEC), or aerogenerator.
