Just to clear up a few questions, before i was on we were dancing that is why i said about exercise for the week and when i asked about who got here by plane that was because there were people from america, New Zealand, Australia and Ireland.
Special thanks to Dan Kimbrough for filming this.

The Comedy Crunch in Dublin, a true European Comedy Cellar. It was such a fun crowd that night, the Barman was top notch, beer flowed like I had dreamt it flowed in Ireland. I'm not invited back, I got drunk, tripped into a leprechaun colony and killed one. Not as happy as you think, the wee ones

Ben Butler at the Comedy Cellar
Irish Comedian Ben Butler performs at the insitution that is The Comedy Cellar, Ireland's longest-running comedy club.
The Comedy Cellar, Ireland's first dedicated comedy club, opened in 1988 in the first-floor space at Dublin's International Bar.
In the two and a half decades since, the Comedy Cellar has become one of stand-ups most beloved clubs. Dylan Moran played his first show there; Eddie Izzard and Jimmy Carr have trod its boards, as has every Irish comedian of note, from Tommy Tiernan to Des Bishop to David O'Doherty. It is no exaggeration to describe it as an institution.

Stand-Up @ Ha' penny Bridge Inn in Temple Bar, Dublin
I had a last minute 10 day trip to Ireland and thought What about trying to do stand-up there? Sent a few mails and got a thumbs up from the guy in charge at the Ha' penny Bridge Inn. They have Open Mic on Tuesday and Thursday and fitted me in for a few minutes. Nice.
On the plane I prepared 2 or 3 minutes around how the Irish have a communitty in Portugal where they 'teach' us how to drink, dance, poetry and do theatre like the Irish. I was going to punch line it with We are not monkeys! and show how we Portuguese conquered the new world and civilized it by slaying and slaving in an ironic stupid way.
Then I landed, Felt the country, felt the people and realized they are a little edgy about colonialism as they were opressed for centuries by the British. I wen't to a comedy show and realized their humour is so much focused on their particular way of life (lot's of pub/drinking reference, hard relationship with women, raw temper, etc), their folclore, their 'rivalry' between city folks and country side and some of their recente past history with famine and migration. Not safe to go hit on religion too because I am not fully aware of the Catholics and Protestants points of view.
So all my writing wen't down the drain. I translated some of my jokes and muttered them in Hostels while resting from long day walks and short night pub drinking. Sounded like crazy for my roommates... but I had 3 days to get it ready to deliver!
On the big night it started whit some really nice improv comedy directed by John Dawson ( and then three more comediants went through. I was paying attention and focused on some strong bits of the night so far
1) a guy that kept saying GAY to everything the improv act asked from the audience. Give me an emotion! GAY, Give me a profession! GAY!, What is the relantionship between the couple? GAY and so on
2) Angela Merkel pointed as the grand child of Hitler
3) An act about The Gathering a big event going on in 2013 that calls for people with Irish blood in their veins to come all around the world to visit and enjoy Ireland. A We are proud of it kind of thing.
4) The big comediant Tiny James ( landing a joke about vegetarians and found out a South African girl that was actually a vegetarian
5) A comediant that brought some groupies with him and boy did he know how to make his pals laugh!
Meshed it all up in a minute or two improv. Started with a really bad joke to work as a stupid teaser and prepare the room for my WTF kind of jokes.
I was not at my best, the lack of fluent english speech and thinking hindered me a bit but overall I think I did ok, even ruining one or two of them for the lack of words.
The crowd is very interactive and really fun on their own. They can top your jokes with a better punch line comment anytime. Most unlike Portugal where people don't wan't to draw attention to them.
It was a great and unique experience. If you are visiting Dublin and you have the balls just do it! Leave a video reply here to see your perfomance!
Ending this big description if you go to Dublin and wan´t to experience some of the local comedy shows I'll leave this links for you to checkout and try to book the stage in an Open Mic event.
You will have some fun, I guarantee you that!
