Cebu is the first Spanish settlement, oldest city, and the first capital of the Philippines. Visit surviving Spanish-colonial heritage sites, most of which can be found within the downtown area and can be easily explored on foot.
Yap-Sandiego Ancestral House
The Yap-Sandiego Ancestral House, located at downtown Cebu City in Parian, which was then the place where wealthy and influential Filipino-Chinese lived during the Spanish times, dates back to 1675 to 1700, as its current owner Val Sandiego, famous choreographer and antique collector, estimates. It is across the Heritage of Cebu Monument.
Heritage of Cebu Monument
The Heritage of Cebu Monument is a tableau of sculptures made of concrete, bronze, brass, and steel showing scenes about events and structures related to the history of Cebu. The Heritage Monument is located in the historic Parian District, which during the Spanish period was home to the residences of the most prominent families in Cebu at that time.
Colon obelisk
This pillar made of granite serves as a reminder of Cebu’s oldest street in honour of Christopher Columbus (Cristobal Colon). The street was established in 1565 to become the city’s busiest strip. The street does not look dated anymore. Gone were the old American and post-war structures. But there are art-deco buildings that you might be interested in.
Cathedral Museum
The Cathedral Museum was initially used as the Cathedral Rectory, or as a convent for the priests before it was used as a campus for the University of San Carlos. The museum building is a fine example of a Bahay-na-Bato. This particular architecture is based on the Bahay Kubo using more durable materials other than the traditional bamboo and nipa or sawali. The structure itself can be considered a museum piece.
Santo Niño Church
Construction of the structure started in 1689 and completed in 1909. However, it was destroyed during the Second World War before being rebuilt in 1950. The Cebu Metropolitan Cathedral is the ecclesiastical seat of the Metropolitan Archdiocese of Cebu.
Basilica Minore del Santo Niño
Basilica Minore del Santo Niño, popularly known as the Santo Niño Church. The church is located right beside Magellan’s Cross and is the location where a Spanish soldier found an image of the Santo Niño. The image was a gift given by Ferdinand Magellan to the wife of Rajah Humabon. The Holy See refers to the church as the “Mother and Head of all Churches in the Philippines.
Magellan’s Cross
A casing made of tindalo wood serves as the cover of the original cross, which was gradually chipped away by the natives in the belief that it possessed miraculous powers. The chapel housing the cross is currently a part of the seal of Cebu City. It is also used on the logos and seals of numerous organizations based in Cebu. The chapel housing Magellan’s Cross is open to the public.
FORT SAN PEDRO
This fort is the oldest and smallest bastion in the Philippines. It is a lovely spot, pretty much like, albeit a smaller version of, Manila’s Paco Park.

CEBU City Philippines Travel Tour 2017
CEBU City Philippines Travel Tour 2017
This 2017 I had the chance to visit the Philippine's Queen City of the South, Cebu.
Cebu City is Located in the Philippine's Southern Islands in the Visayas Region. Cebu is a great place that is very clean and the people are so nice.
I wanted to show the beauty of Cebu with just a tight budget. The Beauty of Cebu not only lies within it's beaches but also we should also take a look how rich the History of Cebu is. When you are in the Philippines it is a great idea to go to Cebu. There are a lot of ways where you can enjoy the City of Cebu without its night life. There are so many historic Tourist spots in Cebu and I am sure that you will enjoy the Philippines if you will travel to Cebu.
I will be going back to Cebu for the Sinulog Festival.
I traveled to Cebu City from Manila City via Cebu Pacific Airlines. You can book your flight with them here
These are some of the places that I want to recommend if you ever want to visit the Philippines and Cebu City.

Retrieval of Pot #10 in San Remigio, Cebu
This is the retrieval of Pot #10, from a cluster of three earthenware potteries associated with Burial #6. The retrieval was carried out by archaeologists from the National Museum of the Philippines and the University of San Carlos on Day 14 of the 29-day joint archaeological fieldwork under the 2011 USC-NM Archaeological Field School held from March 23 to April 18 in San Remigio, Cebu. Burial 6 was the last burial retrieved from the archaeological site behind the present church of San Remigio Parish (formerly the front of the church). This pot is part of the cultural material retrieved during the excavations that are probably of the Philippines Iron or Metal Age, ca. 500 BC to AD 900.

The Heritage Monument of Cebu
The Heritage of Cebu Monument is located in the original Plaza Parian. Sculpted in bronze and cement by National Artist for Sculpture, Eduardo Castrillo, this massive monument portrays the significant events in the history of Cebu spanning from the time of Rajah Humabon to the beatification of the Cebuano martyr Pedro Calungsod.
There is an inscription on the monument that reads: The Pride, Unity, and Cultural Wealth of a race, emulate from the people's sense of self and their history, from the early Filipinos, to the dawn of European colonization, the resolution of 1896, the birth of the Philippine Republic, the heroic contribution of the Cebuano people and the saga of events which transpired on the island of Cebu are vital elements in the formation of the nation we know today.
This work of art is the loving legacy of the City and province of Cebu. It is a tribute to all Filipino people.
This video shows glimpses of the monument caught by an ordinary passerby while walking around the plaza.
