Announced in 2011, Up at The O2 officially opened on 21 June 2012. Up at The O2 involves an expedition across the roof of The O2 along a 190m long tensile fabric walkway. Halfway, a central platform provides 360 degree views of the city, before a descent down to the base of the venue on the other side. From the platform, visitors can see the Olympic Park, Thames Barrier, Historic Royal Greenwich and Canary Wharf.
The O2 Arena (referred to as the North Greenwich Arena for the 2012 Summer Olympics and Paralympics) is a 20,000 capacity venue, primarily used for live music. It is located at the centre of The O2 and is the first American-style, multi-purpose arena in London. outdoors. It’s what we call Urban Mountaineering. And at Up at The O2, it’s what we do best. As one of our intrepid explorers, you’ll ascend all the way to the top of The O2 via a walkway, suspended 52m above ground level. Kitted out with your climb suit, boots and harness you’ll be every inch the urban mountaineer.
The O2 also has one multi-purpose indoor events space for live music and night clubbing. Competing with other similar events spaces such as Brixton Academy, the club is called Building Six (formerly Matter & Proud2). The O2 Bubble is a two-storey bubble-shaped exhibition space built to museum standards, which opened in November 2007. It is made from ETFE, the same material used for the Eden Project, and the bubble itself is reportedly based on the Eden Project.

---- Tips for taking part in the Up At The O2 Experience ----
1)The nearest station to the O2 Arena is North Greenwich which is on the Jubilee line. The Jubilee Line is shown as grey on the London Underground map
2)The entrance to the Up At The O2 Experience can be found to the left of the main O2 Arena entrance, it’s very east to spot.
3)Please arrive at least 15mins before you are due to go up
4)You will be given climbing shoes to wear, as these are worn by other members of the public, it is highly advisable you bring socks. If you do not have socks, you can purchase them for £2 at the main counter.
5)You will be asked to sign a waiver – under 18’s much have a parent of guardian sign the form.
6)You are not allowed to hold any items in your hands on the climb up of down. Selfie stocks (unless you can fit them into your pocket) can not be carried. You are only allowed photography once you are at the very top. You can not wear a body cam or head mounted camera either.
7)Best time to visit is during the summer time when the sun is setting.
8)The experience lasts 90mins in total. Suspended 2m above the surface of The O2 roof, the walkway is 52m above ground level and 380m long.
9)You can purchase a drink upgrade of either Coca Cola or Champagne to have once you’re on the top.
10)You guide will help you take pictures if you want.
