The Utah Field House of Natural History State Park Museum is also known as the Dinosaur Gardens. It is located at 496 E. Main St. (Hwy 40) just as you leave Vernal on the eastern edge of town on your way to Dinosaur National Monument. The museum which opened in 2004 displays vivid murals and tile floors to help visitors connect geological time to real time places in Vernal. Life size replicas of dinosaurs sneak into the museum through windows looking out onto the Dinosaur Gardens. Located inside is the Northeastern Utah Visitor Center for information, maps, and brocures of tourism and recreational opportunities.

The Natural History Museum of Utah (NHMU) is a museum located on the campus of the University of Utah in Salt Lake City, Utah, United States. The museum shows exhibits of natural history subjects, with an emphasis on Utah and the Intermountain West. The mission of the museum is to illuminate the natural world and the place of humans within it.[1] The new building, named the Rio Tinto Center, opened in November 2011.[2]

I arrived about 430pm at Dinosaur National Monument, tired, butt sore, and hungry. However, plenty of daylight left, and wanted more input! I went to the Visitor Center, and got my Senior Lifetime National Park pass for $10. What a deal, guest in my car & I can visit any National Park, National Monuments, National Forest, free from now on until I leave this earth. How cool is that? After having a great time with the rangers there, I started my adventure. Not wanting to go inside, I gave it a shot. Once inside the building I was totally amazed with all the fossilized dinosaur reminants. I was curious why so many in different layers. So I asked the woman in charge, and her response was Millions of years after layers of sediment over the grave site, the earth plates collided raising the layer of the dinosaur reminants out of the ground on the angle that they were displayed. Made perfect sense to me after that explanation. She also told me about the full bodied Allosaurus on display. The total body came from Bryce Canyon, Utah and the head (from the cast of the head on display) was unearthed here in Dinosaur National Monument. I hope that the photos give justice to what I really experienced. This will end 1st part of Dinosaur National Monument. I have some great stories about the remaining time I spent in the park. Way too crazy, please come back to find out what happened. Other than the body of the Allosaurus, everything else came from Dinosaur National Monument.

The Natural History Museum of Utah is a museum located at the Rio Tinto Center on the campus of the University of Utah in Salt Lake City, Utah, United States. The museum shows exhibits of natural history subjects, with an emphasis on Utah's natural history. The mission of the museum is to illuminate the natural world and the place of humans within it. The new building, named the Rio Tinto Center, opened in November 2011.
The museum was conceived in 1959, when the University of Utah faculty committee decided to consolidate natural history collections from around its campus. The museum was established as the Utah Museum of Natural History on the University of Utah campus in 1963 by the Utah State Legislature. It opened in 1969 in the former George Thomas Library and included specimens from the Deseret Museum as well as from the Charles Nettleton Strevell Museum that was located in the old Lafayette School on South Temple Street from 1939 until 1947.
In 2011 the museum moved from the old George Thomas Library location at 1390 Presidents Circle into the Rio Tinto Center, in the University of Utah's Research Park 301 Wakara Way, Salt Lake City. The move also resulted in a change of name to the Natural History Museum of Utah.
The Rio Tinto Center is a 163,000-square-foot building set in foothills of the Wasatch Mountains. The building's highest point is a round structure on the back or east side which houses the Native Voices gallery. The architects for the building were Ennead from New York City and GSBS of Salt Lake City. Ralph Appelbaum Associates designed the exhibits.
