Colorado Springs, at an elevation of 6,035 ft., is a city in Colorado at the eastern foot of the Rocky Mountains. It lies near glacier-carved Pikes Peak, a landmark in Pike National Forest with hiking trails and a cog railway leading to its 14,114-ft. summit. The city's Garden of the Gods park features iconic red-sandstone formations and mountain views.
One of the nation's first destination resorts, Colorado Springs is now the state’s second-largest city. Its natural beauty and pleasant climate attract visitors from around the globe, who come to ascend majestic Pikes Peak and admire the exquisite sandstone spires of the Garden of the Gods.
Comprising a sprawling quilt of neighborhoods, which can be a little confusing to navigate, Colorado Springs has many faces. It's home to three of the nation's highest security military bases, it's an evangelical stronghold, and it boasts a vibrant liberal-arts university campus.
Recently the Springs has come of its own as a year-round adventure and leisure tourism destination, with a bunch of new family-focused attractions adding to the appeal of the Front Range and its existing cache of sights, from the excellent fine-arts museum to the historic Air Force Academy and an up-and-coming restaurant scene.

I visited Ute Valley Park to destress. While there a family pointed out a Black Bear mother with two cubs. I filmed this with my iPhone on 11-3-2015. I'll add new music to the video due to the Copyright claim. The video is dedicated to Zach Wagner, the original Werebear in the Bush.
Ute Valley - East side
Footage from a ride last month with a few friends. First time hitting the east side of Ute Valley... At one point during this ride I lost my lunch. At another point in the ride I had a minor spill in some soft sand that ended up injuring my neck taking a few weeks to recover. Oops!

Just off of Nevada Ave in Colorado Springs there is a parking lot where you can take a short hike to the top of Pulpit Rock. It is fun and it is scenic. If you ever just want to get out of the house and take a very nice walk/hike without going too far away, climb pulpit rock.

The Paint Mines! Colorado's Best Kept Colorful Secret!
The Paint Miles 30 miles east of Colorado Springs is a state park that most Colorado residents have never heard of or visited and that's a shame because it is a gem! Prehistoric Native Americans used clay from the park to paint pottery and for ceremonial purposes. The park is small (750 acres) and contains grassland, geological formations of hoodoos, colored clay and sandstone-capped spires.
