We hear it the news almost every day:
More US factories shutting down and moving to another country—others shutting down altogether.
But wait-- Here’s a NEWSFLASH:
Many US factories are alive and well across the country-- and factory tours may be your best travel idea this year.
For children and adults, it’s a real-life adventure to see familiar products being made—from crayons and electric guitars to chocolates, potato chips, pretzels, and many more.
I’m speaking from experience: In the past year, my grandson and I have taken five factory tours—and enjoyed every minute of them all:
Crayola (Easton, Pa);
Paul Reed Smith Guitars (Stevensville, MD);
Hershey’s Chocolate World (Hershey, Pa);
Wilbur Chocolate Company (Lititz, Pa);
Utz Potato Chip Factory (Hanover, Pa);
Julius Sturgis Pretzel Bakery (Lititz, Pa).
These are just a few of the many factory tours in the US. Most are free, and some require reservations (Paul Reed Smith).
Count me in: I’ve become a factory-tour enthusiast, and on this snowed-in day, I’ve started my list for tours to take in 2016.
I strongly recommend taking a factory tour this year, and if you do, I predict it won’t be long before you’ll be taking another one.
