The US-Canada Border Splits This Road Down The Middle
Rue Canusa (or Canusa Avenue) is a street that's split in two by a border: the northern part is in Stanstead, Canada, and the southern part is in Derby Line, USA — and border crossings here aren't as easy as they used to be.

Welcome to the town split by the Canada/U.S. border
Beebe Plain is a town divided. The Canada/U.S. border runs down the middle of Canusa Street, putting one side of the village in Quebec, and the other in Vermont. Locals describe how the necessity of routinely crossing the border has changed over the years.

Alaska Cruise | Roundtrip from Vancouver Part 7 | Scenic Cruising The Inside Passage #alaska#cruise#scenicinsidepassage
This is part 7 of our 7 Day Roundtrip Alaska Cruise Trip from Vancouver, BC.
This covers the scenic inside passage footage.
The Inside Passage (French: Passage Intérieur) is a coastal route for ships and boats along a network of passages which weave through the islands on the Pacific NW coast of North America. The route extends from southeastern Alaska, in the United States, through western British Columbia, in Canada, to northwestern Washington state, in the United States. Ships using the route can avoid some of the bad weather in the open ocean and may visit some of the many isolated communities along the route. The Inside Passage is heavily travelled by cruise ships, freighters, tugs with tows, fishing craft and ships of the Alaska Marine Highway, BC Ferries, and Washington State Ferries systems.
The term Inside Passage is also often used to refer to the ocean and islands around the passage itself.

Downtown Bellingham Wa Things To Do - One Of The Healthiest Cities In Western Washington
Subdued Excitement In Downtown Bellingham Washington. Downtown Bellingham WA has many restaurants, clubs and bars to keep you entertained or at least distracted day and night. Many club venues have live music at night and on weekends.
The Downtown area near Bellingham's waterfront has an upscale urban village look and feel that has been intentionally fostered to help local businesses compete with other larger shopping corridors like Guide Meridian Ave. and Bellis Fair Mall.
Over the last decade there have been many new high rise condominiums built near downtown giving the area hundreds of residents happy to stroll the streets and frequent downtown businesses.
Night life in Downtown Bellingham is surprisingly lively and diverse perhaps due to Bellingham's College Town status--- Bellingham is home to Western Washington University.
If you're looking for things to do in Downtown Bellingham you might want to consider checking out are Museums including the SPARK museum, home to the awesome Megazapper Tesla Coil.
Bellingham's waterfront is also a popular staging area for vising the San Juan Islands. Along the downtown waterfront you will find whale watching tour operators and charter companies.

La Conner Washington Video Visit - Located in Tulip country Skagit County WA
La Conner WA is a great weekend getaway for residents of Northwest Washington. This small waterfront community is perhaps best known for the annual Skagit Valley Tulip Festival which draws hundreds of thousands of visitors each year from all over Washington State and British Columbia.
The most recognizable structure in La Conner is the old Rainbow Bridge built in 1957. It has a special grace to it and has inspired countless paintings and attempted paintings.
Local residents include the Swinomish indians who have lived nearby for generations. They currently run a casino and lodge which is very popular with residents and tourists. If you are visiting La Conner, the Tulip Festival or just passing through to the Washington State Ferry Terminal in Anacortes, be sure to stop in to the Swinomish Casino at least for lunch, and their fuel station has really great prices on both gas and diesel fuel.
The casino complex also has a new high rise lodge/hotel and there's even an RV park on the property as well.

Blaine Washington And Peace Arch Border Crossing In Northwest Washington
Blaine Washington is located right on the US/Canadian Border in Northwest Washington. Blaine WA is also home to the Peace Arch Park along with White Rock British Columbia.
Some residents of Blaine have proposed the city change it's name to Blaine Harbor but the city voted it down. Some people choose to call it Blaine Harbor anyway.
The Peace Arch Park allows you to visit both countries and walk across the border.
The park is especially beautiful in the spring time when both countries seem to try and out do each other with their flower displays. Admission to the park is FREE.
Blaine Washington has a popular boating harbor with both American and Canadian vessels. Semiahmoo is a gated golf community on the West side of Drayton Harbor. Semiahmoo was once home to the largest Salmon Cannery in the world. The old Cannery is now a Resort Hotel And Spa. Semiahmoo is also popular with television and movie stars filming in Vancouver who prefer to live in the United States.

Holland America Line automatically adds $11.50 per person, per day, to onboard accounts ($12 per person, per day, for passengers in suites). This is then shared among waiters, stewards and other service personnel. That amount can be adjusted in either direction by visiting the front desk. A 15 percent gratuity is tacked on to bar bills. Note that gratuities are not automatically included on bills for spa treatments. There are typically two formal nights on seven-night cruises.

United States & Canada - Border Crossing - Peace Arch HD (2014)
The Peace Arch is a monument situated on the Canada -- United States border between the communities of Blaine, Washington and Surrey, British Columbia. The Peace Arch, which stands 20.5 metres (67 ft) tall, was built by Sam Hill and dedicated in September 1921, and commemorates the signing of the Treaty of Ghent in 1814. The monument is built on the exact United States -- Canada boundary, between Interstate 5 and Highway 99, in the grass median between the northbound and southbound lanes. The Peace Arch has the flags of the U.S. and Canada mounted on its crown, and two inscriptions on both sides of its frieze. The inscription on the U.S. side of the Peace Arch reads Children of a common mother, and the words on the Canadian side read Brethren dwelling together in unity. Within the arch, each side has an iron gate hinged on either side of the border with an inscription above reading May these gates never be closed.
Peace Arch Park consists of Peace Arch Provincial Park on the Canadian side and Peace Arch State Park on the American side of the border. Within the park is a major border crossing (between Interstate 5 on the U.S. side and British Columbia Highway 99 on the Canadian side) which has never closed, symbolizing a long history of peace between the two nations. In Canada, the crossing is officially named Douglas in honour of Sir James Douglas, the first governor of the Colony of British Columbia. Because of the Peace Arch monument, however, the border crossing between Surrey and Blaine is popularly known as the Peace Arch Border Crossing, one of the busiest border crossings between Canada and the United States. It is the busiest such crossing west of Detroit.
The monument and surrounding park is considered an international park. As such, visitors do not require either a passport or visa to pass through their applicable border crossing so long as they stay within the boundaries of the park.
Columbia: The forgotten history of early British Columbia
This video is about the formative time before we were officially named British Columbia. Columbia, or Proto British Columbia, was the direct precursor of our province and its tragic story haunted the important figures of our early history. Its story contains important lessons and inspiration for our future.
The North West Company established the first longterm presence on the West Coast. It created two administrative districts called New Caledonia in the north run from Fort St James and Columbia in the south run from Fort George(now called Astoria). When the NWC was taken over by the Honorable Hudson Bay Company these territories were amalgamated into one called Columbia. Because the HBC was given the powers of government it created its new capital in Vancouver (now in Washington State). This form of government is called a Company State, exactly like the East India Company that governed India.
For over two decades the HBC created a multicultural society living in peace with First Peoples. Its working languages were French and Chinook Wawa, a hybrid language made originally mostly from Chinook and French. Columbia was the original area that is sometimes called Cascadia, which comes from the French word used for the mountains 'Les Cascades'.
After the 1846 Border Treaty was implemented in 1849, many of the people from Columbia went north to the new Columbia, British Columbia, especially since the new US regime did not allow black people or Hawaiians to live in their newly acquired territory.
In the north, political governance was from Victoria, Langley and New Westminster although many settled in what is now Surrey, Richmond, Burnaby, Coquitlam and some around Burrard Inlet and False Creek.
You can learn how more about how 'British' Columbia lost what is now Washington, Oregon, Idaho and parts of Montana through the Kumtuks videos Losing Columbia and Keeping New Caledonia on YouTube. This old territory is full of place names from the old Columbia and it maintains a cultural connection to this day which leads people to refer to the whole area as a single cultural region which they call Cascadia.

Origin of Everything is a show about the undertold histories and cultural dialogues that make up our collective story. From the food we eat, to the trivia and fun facts we can’t seem to get out of our heads, to the social issues we can’t stop debating, everything around us has a history. Origin of Everything is here to explore it all. We like to think that no topic is too small or too challenging to get started.
