Driving Downtown - Las Vegas Nevada USA - Episode 47.
Starting Point: Las Vegas Boulevard .
Las Vegas, officially the City of Las Vegas and often known simply as Vegas, is the 28th-most populated city in the United States, the most populated city in the state of Nevada, and the county seat of Clark County. The city anchors the Las Vegas Valley metropolitan area and is the largest city within the greater Mojave Desert. Las Vegas is an internationally renowned major resort city known primarily for its gambling, shopping, fine dining, entertainment, and nightlife. It is the leading financial, commercial, and cultural center for Nevada.
The city bills itself as The Entertainment Capital of the World, and is famous for its mega casino–hotels and associated activities. It is a top three destination in the United States for business conventions and a global leader in the hospitality industry, claiming more AAA Five Diamond hotels than any city in the world. Today, Las Vegas annually ranks as one of the world's most visited tourist destinations. The city's tolerance for numerous forms of adult entertainment earned it the title of Sin City, and has made Las Vegas a popular setting for literature, films, television programs, and music videos.
Las Vegas was settled in 1905 and officially incorporated in 1911. At the close of the 20th century, it was the most populated American city founded within that century (a similar distinction earned by Chicago in the 1800s). Population growth has accelerated since the 1960s, and between 1990 and 2000 the population nearly doubled, increasing by 85.2%. Rapid growth has continued into the 21st century, and according to a 2013 estimate, the population is 603,488 with a regional population of 2,027,828.
Las Vegas is often used to describe areas beyond official city limits—especially the areas on and near the Las Vegas Strip, which is actually located within the unincorporated communities of Paradise, Winchester, and Enterprise.
Las Vegas Strip
The Las Vegas Strip is a stretch of South Las Vegas Boulevard in Clark County, Nevada, known for its concentration of resort hotels and casinos. The Strip is approximately 4.2 miles (6.8 km) in length, located immediately south of the Las Vegas city limits in the unincorporated towns of Paradise and Winchester. However, the Strip is often referred to as being in Las Vegas. Most of the Strip has been designated an All-American Road, and is considered a scenic route at night. Many of the largest hotel, casino, and resort properties in the world are located on the Las Vegas Strip. Fourteen of the world's 25 largest hotels by room count are on the Strip, with a total of over 62,000 rooms.
One of the most visible aspects of Las Vegas' cityscape is its use of dramatic architecture and lights. The rapidly evolving skyline and constant modernization of hotels, casinos, restaurants, residential high-rises, and entertainment offerings on the Strip, have established it as one of the most popular destinations for tourists in the United States, and the world.

Vegas Balloon Rides - FULL VIDEO TOUR (Las Vegas, Nevada)
Taking a hot air balloon ride with Vegas Balloon Rides! This was in April 2017. It was a really fun expeirence and we did get a good amount of time in the air. Unfortunately, you have to get up really early for this, and you have to watch them unload everything and also help pack everything away afterwards. Your trip could get cancelled due to the weather (Which is rare in Las Vegas to be honest!)... That being said, we had a great time and as tradition goes, there was a champagne toast afterwards!

A hot air balloon is a lighter-than-air aircraft consisting of a bag, called an envelope, which contains heated air. Suspended beneath is a gondola or wicker basket (in some long-distance or high-altitude balloons, a capsule), which carries passengers and a source of heat, in most cases an open flame caused by burning liquid propane. The heated air inside the envelope makes it buoyant since it has a lower density than the colder air outside the envelope. As with all aircraft, hot air balloons cannot fly beyond the atmosphere. Unlike gas balloons, the envelope does not have to be sealed at the bottom, since the air near the bottom of the envelope is at the same pressure as the surrounding air. In modern sport balloons the envelope is generally made from nylon fabric and the inlet of the balloon (closest to the burner flame) is made from a fire resistant material such as Nomex. Modern balloons have been made in all kinds of shapes, such as rocket ships and the shapes of various commercial products, though the traditional shape is used for most non-commercial, and many commercial, applications.
The hot air balloon is the first successful human-carrying flight technology. The first untethered manned hot air balloon flight was performed by Jean-François Pilâtre de Rozier and François Laurent d'Arlandes on November 21, 1783, in Paris, France, in a balloon created by the Montgolfier brothers. The first hot-air balloon flown in the Americas was launched from the Walnut Street Jail in Philadelphia on January 9, 1793 by the French aeronaut Jean Pierre Blanchard. Hot air balloons that can be propelled through the air rather than simply drifting with the wind are known as thermal airships.

RED ROCK CANYON, NEVADA - An easy trip from Las Vegas
Something that completely took us by surprise while visiting Las Vegas is the plethora of opportunities to visit scenic areas just outside of the city. Nestled just a short drive away from Las Vegas strip is the imposing Red Rock Canyon. To visit we partnered with Pink Jeep Tours who whisked us to numerous different vantage points where we had the opportunity to hike, walk and climb certain parts of the National Park. It's definitely an experience I'd recommend to others and it left me feeling nostalgic because the scenery and imposing landscapes are similar to what I experienced backpacking in Northern Argentina five years ago.

Visiting Red Rock Canyon - day trip from Las Vegas Travel Video Script:
On our second day in Las Vegas we decided to escape the city and enjoy a bit of the natural scenery. We joined the Pink Jeep Tour for an afternoon exploring Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area. Located about a half hour drive outside of the city this is an easy day trip filled with rugged desert landscapes. We spent a few hours driving through the park and also doing a bit of hiking along the way. Here are some of the highlights.
Alright, it's time to climb this bad boy. Okay, show us your climbing skills. Scramble up that mountain. Just like an old man.
So this over here is the Calico Ridge and the landscape reminds me a lot of Northern Argentina.
The toilet. Is the toilet occupied? Hmm. Huh?
Hello, there.
So we are coming to the end of this outing. We're just doing our last little hike through the park and soon we'll be back in Las Vegas. But how did you enjoy it? It's been awesome. It is so nice. I didn't realize that there was so many scenic areas just outside of Las Vegas. And the best part is that I am building up an appetite for an enormous steak. Or sushi? No, steak.
This is part of our Travel in the United States series. We're making a series of videos showcasing American culture, American arts, American foods, American religion, American cuisine and American people.
