Veteran's Park Delray Beach Florida
Mom took Ethan to Veteran's Park in Delray Beach, Florida which is located on the Intracoastal Waterway and Atlantic Boulevard. The playground is nice and the scenery surely was great but apparently the bathrooms are poorly maintained and she said there was a make shift crack pipe near one of the benches. Not sure if this is usual or if she was just there at a bad time. Perhaps we will go back sometime soon and see if it has changed.

New boat docks at Delray Beach Veterans Park now open
Most people get to downtown Delray Beach by car, but just in time for the weekend, people can now get to Atlantic Avenue by boat. The reconstruction of the seawall at Veterans Park is done, and the new boat docks are open. “You can see, this is a great job from a boater's standpoint. We never had cleats like that. We never had the fenders on the outside,” said Delray Beach resident Jim Hunt.

King Tide Climate Change Flooding Delray Beach Florida
A higher than normal King Tide, climate change-fueled sea level rise and storm swell are being blamed for street flooding on both sides of the Intracoastal Waterway in Delray Beach, Florida. Water crept over the seawall at in the Marina District and Veteran's Park when this video was taken around noon on October 18, 2016. It was also spilling onto Seasage Drive on the east side of the Intracoastal Waterway.
Local officials, homeowners and engineers are considering solutions, including building higher seawalls and adding valves to prevent the saltwater from rising up through storm drains. Officials also recommend that at-risk homeowners see if they're eligible for flood insurance and consider elevating their homes and improving the drainage systems on their property.

King Tide Sea Level Rise Flooding Delray Beach Florida
Like this video? Check out my new website SeaLevelRiseRealEstate.com for the latest developments. Sept. has become the traditional first month of 3 months of occasional King Tide, Global Warming, Sea Level Rise Flooding in South Florida. Dumping more pollution — carbon dioxide and methane — into the atmosphere is sure to speed up the process that will inundate coastal cities in the decades to come.
I took this video at noon in Delray Beach’s historic Marina District and Veteran's Park dock, which are located on the Intracoastal Waterway. The new raised seawall and dock at Veteran's Park appears to have prevented flooding. (The only problem with higher seawalls is they tend to send the water off to flood another location. South Florida is also built on porous limestone, so it's only a matter of time before the water migrates under the seawall.) Oct. usually has the worst flooding. I'll try to take more video then.
What's clear from my wet feet is without a radical reduction in carbon emissions, all of FL south of Lake Okeechobee is headed under. Even with reductions, it may be too late. The region's geology -- porous limestone that water can move through -- will make it just about impossible to stop the inundation. Watching developers continue to build within blocks of this slow motion catastrophe is surreal and alarming. But that's Florida. I'm taking these videos so future generations can see how it all began (or ended).
