Victor Vasarely (1906-1997) ✽ Hungarian-born French painter
Thank you all for viewing and comments! ✽ All the best!
A pécsi születésű Victor Vasarely (Vásárhelyi Győző, 1906-1997) a 20. századi egyetemes képzőművészet iskolateremtő mestere, a nagyhatású op art irányzat képviselője volt.
Victor Vasarely, Hungarian Győző Vásárhelyi Hungarian form Vásárhelyi Győző, (born April 9, 1908, Pécs, Hungary—died March 15, 1997, Paris, France), Hungarian-born French painter of geometric abstractions who became one of the leading figures of the Op art movement.
Vasarely was trained as an artist in Budapest in the Bauhaus tradition. In 1930 he left Hungary and settled in Paris, where he initially supported himself as a commercial artist but continued to do his own work. During the 1930s he was influenced by Constructivism, but by the 1940s his characteristic style of painting animated surfaces of geometric forms and interacting colours had emerged. His style reached maturity in the mid-1950s and 1960s, when he began using brighter, more vibrant colours to further enhance the suggestion of movement through optical illusion. Representative works include Sirius II (1954), Ondho (1956–60), and Arny-C (1967–69).
Vasarely became a naturalized French citizen in 1959. Much of his work is housed in the Vasarely Museum at the Château de Gourdes, in southern France, and in the Vasarely Museum in Budapest. In 1970 he established the Vasarely Foundation, which in 1976 took up quarters near Aix-en-Provence in a building that he designed.

Victor Vasarely.

Museum of Applied arts Budapest Iparmüvészeti Muzeum music: Brahms Hungarian dances
The Museum of Applied Arts in Budapest was the third to be founded in Europe, following its partner museums in London (1857) and Vienna (1864). The building was constructed between 1893 and 1896, and was inaugurated in 1896 by Franz Joseph, Austro-Hungarian Emperor and King of Hungary, as part of the Millennium Celebrations (of the Hungarian settlement).
Designed by Ödön Lechner and Gyula Pártos, the architectural solutions of the early secessionist palace are very special. The colourful cupola is covered with ceramic from the Zsolnay Factory and the large Glass Hall attracts the lay visitor as well.
Among the most significant works of art in the Museum are Maximilian II, the Holy Roman Emperor's astronomic clock (Gerhart Emmoser, Augsburg, 1566), an ornamental plate with its depiction of the Battle at Vezekény (Philipp Jakob Drentwett, Augsburg, 1654), a wall-hanging of the Birth of Jesus (Brussels, circa 1620), an Adren-Faizelot Delorme commode (Paris, circa 1750), Giorgio Andreoli's luster technique, Gubbio and Francesco Lafranco's painted ornamental plates (Urbino, 1529).
budapesti Iparművészeti Múzeum a londoni (1857) és a bécsi (1864) társintézmények után Európában harmadikként jött létre. Az 1872-es országgyűlés 50.000,- Ft-ot szavazott meg műipari tárgyak vásárlására a következő évi bécsi világkiállításon a leendő iparmű-múzeum számára, s ezzel megvetette a gyűjteményezés alapját. A gyarapodó anyagot 1874-77 között a Nemzeti Múzeum fogadta be: lépcsőházában állította ki a műkincseket. A későbbiekben a gyűjtemény a Régi Műcsarnok (Sugár út 69.)
A pályázaton - Keletre magyar!
A múzeum előcsarnokának oszlopkötegekkel épült, fölfelé nyitott - a kupolára rálátást, s onnan fényt adó - megoldása nagyszabású építészeti gondolat. A Zsolnay kerámiával bontott színes kupola messziről, míg a meseszerű díszítményekkel ékes, nyitott főbejárati csarnok közelről csalogatta - és csalogatja ma is - a látogatókat.
A háborús károkat 1949-ben állították helyre. Az épület azóta teljes pompájában várja a múzeumlátogatókat.
