On a June night in 1912, the peaceful town of Villisca suffered an unfathomable crime. Eight people—a mother, father, their four children, and two guests—were brutally murdered by an axe-wielding killer in a case that remains unsolved to this day. 104 years later, Caleb (Robert Adamson) and Denny (Jarrett Sleeper), two friends who share an interest in ghost hunting, and new girl in school Jess (Alex Frnka) sneak into the house where the infamous bloodbath occurred in hopes of recording paranormal activity. But nothing has prepared them for the supernatural force waiting to write the next chapter in the home's bloody history.

THE AXEMAN | Played in Front of the Villisca Ax Murder House
The Axeman was written about a true, unsolved family murder case.
The Villisca ax murders occurred between the evening of June 10, 1912, and the early morning of June 11, 1912, in the town of Villisca in southwestern Iowa. The six members of the Moore family and two house guests were found bludgeoned in the Moore residence.
The Axeman is an original song written by Heather Camacho and Jesse Fox of The Lone Canary
Murder House Monday: The Villisca Ax Murder House, Villisca, Iowa
On June 10th, 1912, neighbors noticed that Moore family members had not started their usual morning chores. Fearing that something was amiss, they called a family relative over to investigate. What they found was horrifying. The bludgeoned bodies of Lena Stillinger, 12, and her sister Ina, 8, who had stayed overnight at the Moores' home, were found in the first-floor bedroom. Upstairs, each member of the Moore family lay in their beds, their skulls crushed: Josiah; his wife, Sarah; and their four children, Herman, Katherine, Boyd, and Paul. The case remains unsolved.
Museum operator Darwin Linn purchased the home in 1994 and remodeled it into a replica of its state in 1912. Now visitors can tour the home during the day or-if they dare-sleep over.
