M/S Viscount St. David driving tractor down towpath. M/S barge behind travelling past camera. C/U Viscount driving tractor. Various shots of barge passing under bridge. Man at tiller hauls towrope as it slackens. M/S man sitting fishing in derelict area. L/S barge travelling towards gasworks, C/U big gas container. L/S tractor and towrope, M/S as they travel towards power station. The barge travels towards and past youth fishing. Two workmen wave from a crane. L/S canal as barge starts off again. M/S as passengers are served with tea. A man buys a Light Ale and looks over the side at the view. M/S as golfer wheels his clubs along on a course by the canal. Viscount - Part Seven - V. I. P. Farewell
Vickers Viscount G-APEY at London Southend Airport, June 1996.
A special celebration flight to mark the end of the Viscount's passenger carrying career, with invited guests from the aviation, travel and business world, together with representatives from local authorities .
Guest of honour was the renowned test pilot Gabriel 'Jock' Bryce OBE, who flew the prototype Viscount for Vickers Armstrong Aircraft.
Several 'farewell' events were held during 1996, with public flights from Southend at the end of June, and another series of flights around the country in 1997.
