Beach on a Lake?! Silverwood Lake
We went to Silverwood Lake and it was pretty fun. They have a beach on the lake, they put sand on the lake. We set up some hammocks and enjoyed the beautiful nature. There was a nice breeze and you were able to cook right there.

Taos-The Movie Part Three
This is Part Three of Taos-The Movie, a travelogue about Taos, New Mexico and the surrounding area. In parts One and Two, we arrived in New Mexico via Amtrak's Southwest Chief, then toured Taos taking in the atmosphere and the adobe architecture. We then visited Arroyo Seco, and Taos Canyon. We also spent time in Taos Ski Valley, climbing up to Williams Lake by Wheeler Peak, New Mexico's highest point.
In Part Three, we will visit the lovely old church in Chimayo, then proceed to The Ghost Ranch at Abiquiu, where the impressive scenery inspired paintings by artist Georgia O'Keeffe and served as a background in various movies. We then journey on to Chama to meet the incoming Cumbres and Toltec Scenic Railroad vintage steam train.
In part Four, we'll experience the stunning New Mexico sunset, a party on the plaza in Taos, then hop the train back home.

Foster Park Campground in Ventura California offers full hookup RV and primitive tent camping mid-way between Ventura and Ojai. A series of beautiful green hill ranges serve as the backdrop for this picturesque park. The Ventura River flows through the park, which lends to the beautiful landscape of lush green vegetation that thrives among the adult shade trees. There is a separate Day Use area and two different campgrounds to choose from, Residence Campground and Red Mountain Campground. The Ojai Valley Trail (equestrian, bike, and walking) runs through the park; the multi-use path is paved its entire length and provides access to the beach from this campground. Bicycle campsites were recently added for users riding the Ojai Valley Trail.
Full hookup RV sites are on concrete pads and most can handle any size RV. The tent sites are further up the hill and are situated in oak trees.
Running water and restrooms are available.

Bryan Fireplace Violin 1

Deukmejian Wilderness Park, Glendale
I spent this past Tuesday afternoon on a metro journey of sorts; with time to kill you'd be hard pressed to find an activity with more potential excitement. All told, I arrived at the road that would eventually lead to the park in about an hour and 25 minutes, which was actually a pretty decent time considering the distance covered. The most difficult task of the day was ascending New York Avenue, right off of Foothill Boulevard. This roughly .75 mile road took about 35-40 minutes to walk from beginning to end, due to the steep grade. The park was very scenic and many of the shots actually came from veering off the trail into the small water runoff area. In conclusion, this day represented another successful filming mission and metro adventure.
Flash floods tear across Arizona desert
Just outside the town of Mayer, Arizona, north of Phoenix, came a wall of water, mud and debris. Campers scrambled as the flood wiped out their gear. It's been an active week of weather throughout the Southwest, with rain, floods and powerful winds uprooting trees. Carter Evans has more.

Hikes in Orange County Hike #26
Hike #26 out of Karin Klein's book 50 Hikes in Orange County. This one in rated moderately easy, coming in at about 6.4 miles with 200 feet of elevation change.
Earlier on this hike, I took a wrong turn and was lost for a mile or two which had me constantly walking through a small stream. Turns out the trail mentioned in the book is now gone and the city has cleared another, easier to follow trail as been in the video.
