Fort Kochi is a region in the city of Kochi in the state of Kerala, India. This is part of a handful of water-bound regions toward the south-west of the mainland Kochi, and collectively known as Old Kochi or West Kochi. Adjacent to this is Mattancherry. In 1967, these three municipalities, along with a few adjoining areas, were amalgamated to form the Corporation of Cochin.
Vypin/ Vypeen is one among a group of islands, that form part of the city of Kochi, in the state of Kerala, India. The island is about 27 km long. Vypin is connected to mainland Kochi by a series of bridges known as the Goshree Bridges, which take off from Kalamukku in Vypin, touches other two island and lands in Marine Drive, Kochi.
The western coast of Vypin has the longest beach in Kochi namely, the Cherai Beach, Kuzhuppilly Beach and the Puthuvype Beach. Vypeen Island Kochi Complete Sightseeing
Vypeen Island is one of the islands in Arabian sea on the western coast of Cochin. The island is well connected by ferry service to Ernakulam. There is also ferry service from Vypeen Island to Fort Kochi and Welingdon Island. Ferry takes about 15 minutes from Ernakulam to Vypeen and is very cheap- just 5 Rs per head. You can see everything in the island, houses, shops, roads, vehicles and everything that you find in the mainland. Many people carry their vehicles (cars, bikes etc.) regularly to and from Vypeen Island by the ferry services. After reaching Vypeen Island we took a walk towards the beach. We first saw Chinese fishing nets which were quite interesting. After that we walked further to see Vypeen beach. The beach has a special charm as you can see Fort Kochi and other islands from here at short distance on the other side of the water. Besides you can see various types of boats and ferries. The harbour and ships are visible at short distance from Vypeen beach.
