In this video I explore WWT Slimbridge and the beautiful array of bird species that they have there - many of which I had never even seen or heard of before, so to me, that made it pretty special.
I am Roxy and I am a zoologist and wildlife presenter who is keen to share my love of animals and the natural world with others. The Bewick’s swans finally arrive and win a signed book!
The wait is over! The latest arriving Bewick’s swans since 1969 have arrived for winter at WWT Slimbridge.
Since the first family arrived on November 6 we have seen a few more new faces on the Rushy Lake. See some footage of this year’s first swans.
Meanwhile pintail, golden plover and lapwing flocks build offering some fantastic views.

WWT Arundel Wetland Centre, Tranquil Boat Safari & Incredible Wildlife, Arundel, West Sussex - 17 07 2019. This includes clips of the endangered Red -breasted Goose (Branta ruficollis) that winters in Bulgaria, Romania and Ukraine, Emperor Goose and other wildlife.
This is only a small view of the Wetland Centre - we could have spent a lot more time here - 26 hectacre site - managed by the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust, a nature conservation charity in the United Kingdom.

Wildlife Weekly Slimbridge - Episode 39
Wader numbers rocket at Slimbridge
Wading birds are dominating the landscape at Slimbridge this week leading to some fantastic birdwatching opportunities.
Black-tailed godwits, lapwing, ruff, little stints and curlew sandpiper are showing well on the reserve with the spotted redshank also making the odd popular appearance.
We find out more about one of the ways the wardens engage with visitors on a Birdwatch morning this week and meet some attendees.
