Riding the new Wahkiakum County Ferry- Sep. 24, 2015

The newly installed vessel, the Oscar B, replaced the 50+ year old Wahkiakum vessel earlier this year. Like its predecessor, the Oscar B is a toll ferry, $5 to ride from Puget Island, Washington to Westport, Oregon going southbound, vice versa going northbound. It takes about 10 to 15 minutes to cross the Columbia River both ways.

This is a video I filmed crossing the ferry earlier today. It is not the full ride, but rather a compilation of various short video clips I recorded while aboard the boat.

Drive from Naselle Library to Grays River Valley Library, WA

This is a relatively short trip from one small village to the next. They both have very small populations under 500, but they still both have libraries. granted, the hours are terrible, they still support libraries for the few people who may show up.

I come only for the internet, but sometimes there is a nice free book to take as well.

April Fog Rolling In

Our town is called Skamokawa for a great reason it means smoke on the water. Tonights fog was a perfect example of the smoke on the water over Skamokawa Creek.
