Short Documentary about the Fashion Designer Walter van Beirendonck. Head of Fashion at the Royal Academy in Antwerpen. He guides the students in the graduation show of 2011 and tells about his own fascination, projects and visions about the future of fashion during his 'Clouds #9' show in Paris.
In the i FABRIC. EUROPEAN TALENT exhibition, Audax Textielmuseum Tilburg presents a young generation of highly promising designers from Europe who are active in the fields of fashion, interior textiles and design.
But what does the actual practice that awaits them involve? To answer this question, the Textielmuseum commissioned the young filmmaker Marleine van der Werf to produce video portraits of experienced players in the field. The portraits of the Belgian fashion designer Walter Van Beirendonck, the British artist Lucy Orta, and Anne Højgaard Jørgensen, artistic director of the Danish textile producer Kvadrat, provide insight into their work and their views on design education.

In de tentoonstelling i FABRIC. EUROPEAN TALENT presenteert Audax Textielmuseum Tilburg een jonge generatie veelbelovende ontwerpers uit Europa, actief op het gebied van mode, interieurtextiel en design.
Hoe ziet echter de praktijk er later uit? Om die vraag te beantwoorden maakte de jonge filmmaker Marleine van der Werf in opdracht van het Textielmuseum videoportretten van ervaren spelers in het veld. De portretten van de Belgische modeontwerper Walter Van Beirendonck, de Britse kunstenaar Lucy Orta en artistiek directeur van de Deense textielfabrikant Kvadrat Anne Højgaard Jørgensen geven inzicht in hun werk en hun visie op het ontwerponderwijs. i FABRIC is één van de hoogtepunten van de culturele programmering in het kader van de manifestatie Tilburg Textiles welke is opgezet binnen de context van 2018BrabantStad, Culturele Hoofdstad van Europa.

Der Modedesigner Walter van Beirendonck. Eine Ausstellung in Antwerpen | euromaxx
Der belgische Designer Walter van Beirendonck ist ein Grenzgänger zwischen Mode und Kunst. Er gilt als exzentrisch, seine Entwürfe sind ausgefallen und schrill. In seinen Kollektionen verarbeitet er häufig politische und kulturelle Themen. Das Antwerpener Modemuseum widmet seiner Arbeit jetzt eine Ausstellung. Zu sehen sind Entwürfe, Fotos und Aufnahmen von Modeschauen der vergangenen 30 Jahre.Gemeinsam mit Dries van Noten, Marina Yee und drei weiteren Modedesignern wurde der Belgier nach seinem Studium an derRoyal Academy of Fine Artsals einer der sogenanntenAntwerp 6international bekannt. Seit 1983 stellt Walter van Beirendonck eigene Kollektionen her. Typisch für den provokanten Modeschöpfer sind ungewöhnliche Farbkombinationen, starke graphische Elemente - und unkonventionelle Laufsteg-Schauen. Van Beirendonck hat nicht nur als Modedesigner, sondern auch als Künstler immer wieder Aufmerksamkeit erregt. Die AusstellungWalter van Beirendonck: Dream the world awakeim Anwerpener Modemuseum läuft vom 14. September bis 19. Februar 2011.

Walter Van Beirendonck made his debut in London in 1987 as one of “The Antwerp Six”. This bag is a reissue of the Walter Van Beirendonck collaboration with Eastpak in 2004.

The Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp is one of the oldest Fashion Institutes in Europe. It was founded in 1663. Although Antwerp may not be the traditional capital of Fashion, it certainly has no problem keeping up with competition in London and Paris. 'The six of Antwerp' first sprang Belgian fashion design to the international forefront. One of the six is Walter van Beirendonck, current head of the fashion academy. Other famous alumni now work for Jean Paul Gaultier, Kenzo, Jil Sander and Sonja Rykiel. Atwerp's fashion shows attract talent spotters from the biggest fashion houses, who swoop in on the hottest new designers. We talk to two students and one ex-student from the class of 2007. And bring you clips from the 2007 fashion show in July.

June, a month where fashion students show off their hard work to the public. By far the most important one is the graduation show from the students at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts Antwerp. The school is known for its promising names (Dries Van Noten, Walter Van Beirendonck, Ann Demeulemeester,...) who graduated in the 80's and made Belgian fashion happen. We spoke to the legendary Walter Van Beirendonck who co-curated it all about how the process has been and if he thinks the Antwerp Six have influenced the fashion department of the Academy, which is also celebrating its 50 year anniversary.

At the then end of the 2016 Podcar City conference in Antwerpen Waldemar Grabski from the Warsaw University, was awarded the Martin Lowson Student Paper Award., moderated by Jörg Schwerizer.
After granting the award, Walter Kulyk, former US Department of Transportation, gave some concluding remarks, summarizing some of the key elements at the Podcar City conference as well as looking ahead.
