Chrysler World Headquarters, Open House, October 2016
Went to the Open House at Chrysler World Headquarters in Auburn Hills, Michigan.
Cameras were allowed, but some of the cars they asked not to video, and I did as they asked. The cars that were off limits of videoing were zebra striped. Lots of interesting things going on, just to make a automobile!
Hope you enjoyed my video, Thank You For Watching.

Chrysler Headquarters Aubrun HIlls 2004
The Chrysler Headquarters and Technology Center is the world headquarters and main research and development facility for the automobile manufacturer Chrysler Group LLC in the United States. It is located in the Metro Detroit suburb of Auburn Hills, Michigan. Completed in 1996, the complex has 5,300,000 square feet (490,000 m2) on 504 acres (2.04 km2) located near Interstate 75.
CRSS Architects[a] designed the Chrysler Technology Center in a cross-axial formation where its elongated atrium topped concourses converge with an octagonal radiant skylight at its center. The rounded-off exterior corners are meant to evoke a polished car body. It was reported on an NPR game-show that according to a Businessweek article, the Chrysler headquarters was designed so that it could be converted to a shopping mall.[2] It was later reported, based on mall industry analysis and speculation from local real estate investors, that the mall design story was a hoax.[3] Chrysler also has executive offices at the landmark Chrysler House in downtown Detroit.
The facility includes a full laboratory level with various wind tunnels, 1.8 mile evaluation road, noise/vibration facility, electromagnetic compatibility center, environmental test center (able to create rain, snow, and extreme temperatures), pilot production plant, and wind tunnel with thermal testing capability. A 57,000 square foot training center was included from the start, with a teleconferencing center and fitness center. The basement hallways are large enough for two cars to pass each other, allowing some testing within the building; and the test cells have their own separate foundation, to avoid vibrating the rest of the complex.
Construction began in 1986, and the facility was largely complete upon its dedication on October 15, 1991. It reached full occupancy in 1993. Planning for the facility began in 1984. Chrysler hoped replacing its outdated Highland Park, Michigan campus, which predated the formation of Chrysler Corporation itself, would improve product development efficiency, increase the ease of inter-departmental collaboration, and create a more satisfying workplace.
Chris Theodore, John Miller, and Dick Terrigian were charged with working on the design of the Technology Center and planning the move from the Highland Park facility; they used the design of the complex to reinforce the platform team approach which was then being introduced at the company. In 2012, Chris Theodore said they were instrumental in “putting one platform team over the other, aligning body engineering over body engineering, etc. Setting up a team-centered core where each platform team could have finance, purchasing, manufacturing, planning and engineering all working together as a team -and, of course, making all the laboratories useable.” [5]
Smith Group designed the attached Chrysler Headquarters (1996) tower crowned with the Pentastar marque. The Headquarters tower was constructed between 1993 and 1996. The Walter P. Chrysler Museum, now closed to the public, is also on the campus.

Chrysler History 1920-1990
Chrysler (/ˈkraɪslər/; officially FCA US LLC, and colloquially Fiat Chrysler Automobiles) is one of the Big Three automobile manufacturers in the United States, headquartered in Auburn Hills, Michigan. The original Chrysler Corporation was founded in 1925 by Walter Chrysler from the remains of the Maxwell Motor Company. In 1998, it was acquired by Daimler-Benz, and the holding company was renamed DaimlerChrysler. After Daimler divested Chrysler in 2007, the company existed as Chrysler LLC (2007-2009) and Chrysler Group LLC (2009-2014) before merging in 2014 with Italian holding company Fiat S.p.A. and becoming a subsidiary of its successor Fiat Chrysler Automobiles. In addition to the Chrysler brand, FCA sells vehicles worldwide under the Dodge, Jeep, and Ram nameplates. Furthermore, the subsidiary includes Mopar, its automotive parts and accessories division, and SRT, its performance automobile division.

2013 Dodge Dart R_T (SH) at the 2013 Detroit Auto Show.JANUARY 14-27, 2013.Spirit of '76
1907
The first Detroit Area Dealer Association (DADA)-managed Detroit Auto Show was held in December 1907, at Riverview Park after the formation of the DADA in the same year. Since then, the show has grown from a regional event with 17 exhibitors to a world-class showcase featuring more than 60 exhibitors.
As the years passed, the show became increasingly popular as the demand and interest for automobiles grew. The show grew and moved to several new locations, including the Light Guard Armory on Eight Mile, the Wayne Gardens Pavilion and the Michigan State Fairgrounds.
The Dodge Dart is an automobile built by the Dodge division of the Chrysler Corporation from 1960 to 1976 in North America, with production extended to later years in various other markets, and was resurrected as a nameplate in 2013.
The Dart name originally appeared on a 1957 show car featuring a body designed by the Italian coachbuilder Carrozzeria Ghia. The production Dart was introduced as a lower-priced, shorter wheelbase, full-size Dodge in 1960 and 1961, became a mid-size car for 1962, and finally was a compact from 1963 to 1976.
The project planners proposed the name Dart, only to have executives demand an expensive research program which produced the name Zipp. This was promptly rejected in favor of Dart.
Over its original 13-year production run, the Dart earned a good reputation. The Dart was one of the most successful compact cars ever introduced in the American automobile marketplace, according to R.D. McLaughlin, then vice president of Chrysler's Automotive sales division, It enjoys a strong owner loyalty and is a car that has established a reputation for reliability and value...these are [some] reasons why we will continue to market the Dart while introducing the new compact Aspen.
Spirit of '76
In a tie-in with the United States Bicentennial, a Spirit of '76 edition of the Dart Sport featured white paint with prominent red and blue bodyside striping meant to evoke the image of the American flag.

SUMMARY
=======
Detroit (, locally also ; French: Détroit, lit. 'strait') is the largest and most populous city in the U.S. state of Michigan, the largest city on the United States–Canada border, and the seat of Wayne County. The municipality of Detroit had a 2017 estimated population of 673,104, making it the 23rd-most populous city in the United States. The metropolitan area, known as Metro Detroit, is home to 4.3 million people, making it the second-largest in the Midwest after the Chicago metropolitan area. Regarded as a major cultural center, Detroit is known for its contributions to music and as a repository for art, architecture and design.
Detroit is a major port located on the Detroit River, one of the four major straits that connect the Great Lakes system to the Saint Lawrence Seaway. The Detroit Metropolitan Airport is among the most important hubs in the United States. The City of Detroit anchors the second-largest regional economy in the Midwest, behind Chicago and ahead of Minneapolis–Saint Paul, and the 13th-largest in the United States. Detroit and its neighboring Canadian city Windsor are connected through a tunnel and the Ambassador Bridge, the busiest international crossing in North America. Detroit is best known as the center of the U.S. automobile industry, and the Big Three auto manufacturers General Motors, Ford, and Chrysler are all headquartered in Metro Detroit.
In 1701, Antoine de la Mothe Cadillac founded Fort Pontchartrain du Détroit, the future city of Detroit. During the 19th century, it became an important industrial hub at the center of the Great Lakes region. With expansion of the auto industry in the early 20th century, the city and its suburbs experienced rapid growth, and by the 1940s, the city had become the fourth-largest in the country. However, due to industrial restructuring, the loss of jobs in the auto industry, and rapid suburbanization, Detroit lost considerable population from the late 20th century to the present. Since reaching a peak of 1.85 million at the 1950 census, Detroit's population has declined by more than 60 percent. In 2013, Detroit became the largest U.S. city to file for bankruptcy, which it successfully exited in December 2014, when the city government regained control of Detroit's finances.Detroit's diverse culture has had both local and international influence, particularly in music, with the city giving rise to the genres of Motown and techno, and playing an important role in the development of jazz, hip-hop, rock, and punk music. The erstwhile rapid growth of Detroit left a globally unique stock of architectural monuments and historic places, and since the 2000s conservation efforts managed to save many architectural pieces and allowed several large-scale revitalizations, including the restoration of several historic theatres and entertainment venues, high-rise renovations, new sports stadiums, and a riverfront revitalization project. More recently, the population of Downtown Detroit, Midtown Detroit, and various other neighborhoods has increased. An increasingly popular tourist destination, Detroit receives 19 million visitors per year. In 2015, Detroit was named a City of Design by UNESCO, the first U.S. city to receive that designation.
NASSAM2018 - June 11 - 22 - Blackhawk Colorado
No matter what part of the country you are coming from you are going to love NASSAM 2018 in Colorado – home to the highest paved road in the US; a place where gold miners made and lost fortunes in the 1870’s; a sports car driver’s paradise; a place so beautiful that it prompted Katherine Lee Bates to compose America the Beautiful!
We’ve chosen the beautiful Ameristar Hotel, Casino and Spa in Blackhawk Colorado, an historic mountain mining town, founded in 1859 for our 2018 NASSAM location.
Stay in for the night and dine at several exquisite restaurants in the resort, play your favorite games, or walk the “strip” to explore the once feisty mining town. Table games include Blackjack and Poker, Roulette and craps, or take a turn at the slot machines.
Take a walk through Blackhawk or ride the free shuttle a mile southwest to Central City and visit the historic Central City Opera House or the Gilpin County Museum and learn about mining life in the 1870’s gold rush.
The Ameristar is the perfect daily starting point for classic Colorado cruises. Rocky Mountain National Park. The wine country at Palisade. Five fabulous car museums are an easy drive from the hotel. The Colorado Railroad Museum with its rich history of the narrow-gauge trains of the Rocky Mountains is less than an hour away. You can ride the famous Georgetown loop steam railroad and walk deep into a hard rock gold mine before lunch.
Want to explore on your own? Grab a map or ask one of the local Kappa drivers. Then, hit the road for beautiful scenery or keep your eye closer to the road on some of the twistiest mountain roads you will find this side of the Mississippi. Not to mention the many microbreweries in the Colorado mountains!
Head south and drive up Pikes Peak and stand where Katherine Lee Bates stood. On the way back, stop into the Air Force Academy and take a walk inside one of the most beautiful and famous chapels in the world.
Or head west along I-70 to Grand Junction. Enjoy the banana belt of the west where wine tasting and great dining is just a couple of hours away. Extend your vacation and continue west into Moab Utah where you can visit the Arch's National Monument and stop into town for a great bite to eat, or head for Durango and drive over the iconic Million Dollar Highway.
North of Blackhawk, more scenic driving and wildlife can be found along Trail Ridge road in Rocky Mountain National Park. You will see elk, deer and if you're lucky, you may even come across a moose. From the top of Trail Ridge, drop into Estes Park and visit the famous Stanley Hotel and any number of micro brews throughout the town.
There is so much to do during your stay at NASSAM 2018 including talking with vendors about your car or learn how to detail and get that professional shine.
