The Hongkong Post has been serving the city for 177 years. Now it handles a daily average of 3.35 million items, ranging from letters to parcels, destined both locally and internationally.
SCMP mailed a letter and tracked it all the way from Wan Chai to the company’s Tai Po office to reveal how the postal system effectively works in the city.

My name is Dennis. In 2009, I opened this channel to record or document this city. I know something is being changed in next decade(s), or I felt the change have began since 2003, no later in 2046. I want to, at least, save some kind of city life in video form instead of taken photo or written in words. I strongly believe that motion picture and sound recording are much better way to preserve and present in the future when young generation want to get know of Hong Kong.

Hi everyone, thank you for supporting me in fulfilling my childhood dream of making videos.
My parents had always taken a tolerant attitude toward my “capricious”: whether my work is feasible and sustainable... and they never complained about it.
As my father just passed away in May, I am left with no choice but to give up my video making venture.
In Hong Kong where the cost of living is sky high, youtube video making is simply not sustainable by google adsense alone. The revenue produced is way too insufficient for affording a domestic helper, and I must look after my mom all by myself - this is why I must stay very close to her at all times.
Unless my revenue is closed to market rate, or my income can cover a domestic helper, otherwise I can hardly justify any video-related works.
Therefore, from now on everything video will be postponed in terms of year(s).

Because I am the only son of my mother in Hong Kong, and I have to take care of her at home. I almost give up this channel because of high consumption of time and living cost. But I found some extra time.
I live in Fanling, north part of New Territories, so it will include my showtime of traveling back and forth. Because of home care to my old mother, there will be no time other than 9:00 to 16:00 because my mother is staying at the senior daycare center, so before and after that, I will NOT able to do filming.
I understand most of you are looking for high quality of video, e.g. 4K or 8K. But hardware is so important at this post-production, that is, the higher quality video, the higher powerful computer to render video. In recently, I solved matter by paid for PowerDirector apps to make 4K on my Pocophone F1, 1 hour of 4K video = 2 hour to make, besides, the convert 4K file time is around 24 hours......
I will continue to run this channel as long as the time is fit-on-me or I don't see any kind of video job could fit me.

A rally in support of the Hong Kong Police Force has taken place near the city’s legislative complex, drawing families of police officers and other supporters.
The gathering on Sunday, June 30, 2019, was planned to voice support for officers, including those accused of using excessive force in breaking up recent anti-extradition bill protests in Hong Kong.
On June 12, law enforcement teams used pepper spray, tear gas and rubber bullets on demonstrators as they attempted to storm Hong Kong government offices.
Protesters countered by surrounding police headquarters in Wan Chai or over 12 hours on June 21, 2019.
In another sign of animosity towards the police, officers normally stationed at two hospitals were withdrawn after they received verbal abuse from patients and staff.

Welcome to our Hong Kong Walking Tour in Wanchai 灣仔 on easter monday. We begin walking from Ruttonjee hospital then walk on Queens Road East, then to infamous Lee Tung Avenue that looks more like Bond Street in London than Wanchai.
'Wan Chai (Chinese: 灣仔) is a metropolitan area situated at the western part of the Wan Chai District on the northern shore of Hong Kong Island, in Hong Kong. Its other boundaries are Canal Road to the east, Arsenal Street to the west and Bowen Road to the south. The area north of Gloucester Road is often referred to as Wan Chai North.
Wan Chai is one of the busiest commercial areas in Hong Kong with offices of many small and medium-sized companies. Wan Chai North features office towers, parks, hotels and an international conference and exhibition centre. As one of the first areas developed in Hong Kong, the locale is densely populated yet with noticeable residential zones facing urban decay. Arousing considerable public concern, the government has undertaken several urban renewal projects in recent years. There are various landmarks and skyscrapers within the area, most notably the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC), Central Plaza and Hopewell Centre. Wan Chai originally began as Ha Wan (下環), literally meaning a bottom ring or lower circuit.[1] As one of the earliest developed areas in Hong Kong along the Victoria Harbour, Central, Sheung Wan (upper ring), Sai Wan (western ring) and Wan Chai are collectively known as the four rings (四環) by the locals. Wan Chai literally means a cove in Cantonese from the shape of its coastal line. The area is no longer a cove, however, due to drastic city development and continual land reclamation.
Wan Chai offers historical conservation sites including Old Wan Chai Post Office, Hung Shing Temple and Pak Tai Temple. Many of the medium-sized shopping centres are named in numerals, such as Oriental 188, 328, and 298 Computer Centre. These numbers might have come from the earlier days when all prostitution houses were numbered, as they were referred to as big numbers (大冧巴, dai lum bah).[1]
There are many commercial complexes and office skyscrapers in Wan Chai. The HK$4.4 billion 78-storey skyscraper Central Plaza currently stands as the third tallest building in Hong Kong.[19] Small but free art exhibitions used to be held on the second floor all-year round, whereas the first floor connects Wan Chai's footbridge network: the Hong Kong Exhibition and Convention Centre at the network's extreme north, Wan Chai Pier, China Building, Harbour Centre, Central Plaza, Immigration Department Tower, Wan Chai Court, Wan Chai MTR Station and Johnston Road (the tram line) at the network's extreme south.
More recent tourist attractions include the Golden Bauhinia Square, the site of a daily flag-rising ceremony. This ceremony is enhanced on 1 July (handover anniversary) and 1 October (National Day of China).
A 3-storey pergola exhibition is built opposite to Li Chit Garden. Tai Fat Hau footbridge also holds an art display of the fingerprints of 30,000 citizens slated for the Guinness Book of World Records.[20] The sticker pictures on 50 poles of the bridge have been colloquially called the 50 landscapes of Wan Chai (灣仔五十景).[20]
Lovers' Rock reclines on the hillside of Bowen Road near Shiu Fai Terrace, mid-levels Wan Chai. The rock received its name since it resembles a small, thin column sticking out of the rock base. This special-looking rock is said to have granted happy marriages to its devoted worshippers.[21] Many people are attracted by its reputation.
Lee Tung Street (Chinese: 利東街), known as the Wedding Card Street (Chinese: 喜帖街; 囍帖街) by locals, was a street in Wan Chai, Hong Kong. The street was famed in Hong Kong and abroad as a centre for publishing and for the manufacturing of wedding cards and other similar items.
All interests of this street were resumed by and reverted to the Government of Hong Kong since 1 November 2005. Lee Tung Street was demolished in December 2007 as part of an Urban Renewal Authority (URA) project. The demolition was seen by many as causing irreparable harm to the cultural heritage of Hong Kong.
The site has recently been redeveloped as a luxury shopping and housing development. As with all other URA projects, no original tenants have been resettled on site.'

Four anti-government protests were planned in Hong Kong on Saturday November 2, 2019. In Victoria Park, protesters held “election meetings” after police rejected an application for a proposed rally there. Before the event began, tensions flared up around the park.Crowds marched from Causeway Bay to Wan Chai and then to Central and Sheung Wan, chanting slogans, building barricades and vandalising shops, businesses and MTR station entrances along the way.On the other side of Victoria Harbour, in Tsim Sha Tsui, clashes erupted between riot police and protesters after a peaceful music event, spreading into Jordan and Mong Kok later in the evening.The chaotic day and night marked the 22nd straight weekend of civil unrest in Hong Kong.

Among the most interesting buildings you can enjoy in Wan Chai are three which are grouped together into a single project called Viva Blu House”: the Blue House, the Yellow House and the Orange House.
The three were built between the 1920s and the 1950s in western style, and are interesting because of their unmistakably vibrant colors as well as the mix of European and oriental features. You'll notice that many of the buildings that you'll discover along the way look somewhat dilapidated, but this lends the neighborhood a particular historical charm, giving an idea of what it has been through over the years.
In a completely different style is the Nam Koo Terrace, or Red House, from the early 20th century. It is an elegant red brick villa that must have been a delight to behold 100 years ago. During the Japanese occupation, the owners were forced to abandon their home, and it is believed to have been used as a brothel for Japanese officers.
Another two buildings of historical interest, which served the local community for decades, are the tiny old post office from 1913, and the police station from 1932...

Hong Kong protesters set fire to Chinese banks amid violent clashes
Violent clashes broke out in Hong Kong as demonstrators stormed the shopping district and attempted to set fire to Chinese banks after authorities announced a controversial blanket ban on face masks.
The Hong Kong government confirmed details of the ban on Friday, invoking colonial-era emergency powers for the first time since the UK handed the city back over to China in 1997.

1. Wong Tai Sin temple (วัดหวังต้าเซียน.. อย่าเรียกว่าไปไหว้เลย เรียกว่าไปถ่ายรูปอย่างเดียวละกัน)
วัดนี้เป็นที่รู้จักกันดีในหมู่มวลคนไทยเราค่ะ เพราะใครจะไปไหว้พระขอพรเรื่องคู่ เรื่องลูกหลาน เรื่องสุขภาพ ต้องมาวัดนี้เท่านั้นค่ะ
การเดินทาง
MTR สายสีเขียว (Kwan Tung line) ลงสถานี Wong Tai Sin exit B3 ขึ้นมาเจอวัดเลยค่ะ
2. Che Lin nunnery and Nan Lian garden (สำนักชีฉีหลินและสวนหนานเหลียน...ความสงบ สวยงาม ที่รอคอย)
หลังจากที่เราเฟลมาแล้วหลายๆ สถานที่ ก็ได้มาที่นี่แหละ ที่รู้สึกว่า “ตรูไม่เฟลแล้วว๊อยยยยย” เพราะที่นี่สวยงามมากค่ะ บรรยากาศดี ร่มรื่น ไม่ค่อยมีคนจีนเลยอ่าาา ทำไมอ่ะ ไม่รู้เหมือนกัน...
สำนักชี และสวน อยู่ที่เดียวกันเลย ภายในกว้างขวางมาก มีทั่งพิพิธภัณฑ์ความเป็นมาของสำนักชี มีสวนสวยๆ สไตล์จีน มีน้ำตก มีร้านอาหารข้างใน มากมายค่ะ อยุ่ทั้งวันยังได้เลย เพราะอากาศที่นี่เย็นสบายมาก ห้องน้ำห้องท่าก็สะอาด มีมุมถ่ายรูปเพียบ มาลองเดินเล่นกันดูนะคะ
การเดินทาง - MTR สายสีเขียว (Kwan Tung line) ลงสถานี Diamond hill exit C2 จะออกมาที่ห้าง Plaza Hollywood ให้เราเดินมาทางป้ายบอกถนน Fung Tak แล้วเดินข้ามถนน รอดทางยกระดับไป จะถึงทางเข้าสำนักชีและสวน (สวนจะอยู่ใต้ทางยกระดับเลยค่ะ)
3. Wan Chai street and Tai Yuen Street market (เดินเล่น ดูวิถีชีวิตผู้คน ที่ตลาดย่าน Wan Chai)
ถัดจากพักผ่อนหย่อนใจที่สวนหนานเหลียนแล้ว เราก็ไปเดินตลาด ดูวิถีชีวิตผู้คนกันบ้างที่ย่าน Wan Chai
ย่านนี้เราค่อนข้างชอบ เพราะเป็นย่านเก่าๆ ฮิปๆ ไม่ค่อยมีสิ่งประดิษฐ์มาก อยู่กันแบบคนฮ่องกง ตลาดก็จะเป็นแนวถนนคนเดิน คือมีตลาดตามถนนตรอก แล้วเค้าก็จะตั้งแผงกันตรงถนนเลย เราก็เดินๆๆๆ ดูว่าเค้าขายอะไร กินอะไร
ส่วนใหญ่ของที่ขายก็จะมี ดอกไม้ ของเล่น เสื้อผ้า ของกิน และของกินแปลกๆ เช่น อุ้งตีนหมี และดีงู (ของจิงรึป่าวไม่รู้ไม่ได้เข้าไปเยี่ยมชมอ่ะค่ะ)
การเดินทาง
MTR สายสีน้ำเงิน (Island line) ลงที่สถานี Wan Chai exit A3 แล้วเดินข้ามถนน Johnston ไปอีกฝั่ง จะเห็นตลาดในซอย Tai Yuen และบนถนน Wan Chai ค่ะ (เป็นถนนเล็กๆ ที่ไม่มีรถ เราสามารถเดินได้ตั้งแต่หัวถนนถึงท้ายถนนทะลุไปอีกฝั่งได้เลยค่ะ
4. Old Wan Chai Post Office (ไปถ่ายรูปกับไปรษณีย์ที่เก่าแก่ที่สุดในฮ่องกงที่ยังหลงเหลืออยู่กัน)
นี่ก็เป็นจุด Check in อีกจุดนึงที่ย่าน Wan Chai .. ตัวตึกจะเป็นสีขาว แลดูวินเทจหน่อยๆ พวกเราเหล่า Instagrammer ก็จะไปยืนเหม่อ ๆ ตรงหน้าตึกแล้วถ่ายรูปจากฝั่งตรงข้ามถนน ก็จะได้รูปฮิปๆ ไปลงไอจีจ้ะ
ตอนที่เราไป เราไม่ได้เข้าไปข้างในนะคะ เหมือนจะปิด แต่ไปอ่านในหนังสือบอกว่าเปิดให้เข้าไปถ่ายรูปได้บางส่วนนะ เพื่อนๆ ไปแล้วลองเข้าไปถ่ายรูปกันดูค่ะ
การเดินทาง
MTR สายสีน้ำเงิน (Island line) exit A3 เดินข้ามถนน Johnston มาแล้วเดินทะลุตลาด Tai Yuen มา ก็จะเจอตึกไปรษณีย์อยู่ฝั่งตรงข้ามเลยค่ะ
5. The Blue house
เป็นอีกจุดที่ต้องไปถ่ายรูปให้ได้ค่ะ นั่นก็คือ The Blue house นั่นเองจ้า ตึกนี้จะทาด้วยสีฟ้า ตกแต่งแนววินเทจๆ หน่อย ในอดีตเคยเป็นโรงพยาบาลและศาลเจ้ามาก่อน แต่ปัจจุบันได้ถูกเปลี่ยนเป็นร้านค้า ร้านขายของที่ระลึก เวลาเราไปถ่ายรูปกับตึกนี้ มันก็จะฮิปๆ ประมาณนี้จ้ะ
การเดินทาง
ใกล้กับไปรษณีย์มากๆ ค่ะ คือต่อจากไปรษณีย์ Wan Chai มา ให้เดินมาทางขวามือ (เมื่อยืนหันหน้าออกจากไปรษณีย์นะ) อีกประมาณ 1 block เท่าน้น ก็จะเจอกับเจ้าบ้านหลังนี้ ซึ่งตั้งอยู่ที่ถนน Stone Nullah lane แล้วเดินเข้าไปในถนนนี้แค่ประมาณ 20 เมตรจ้ะ
6. HK cultural centre / 1881 Heritage / Victoria Harbour (เดินเล่นหาจุดถ่ายรูปลงไอจีที่นี่กัน)
หลังจากี่เราดื่มด่ำกับย่านเก่าแก่อย่าง Wan Chai แล้ว เราก็กลับมายังย่านที่คุ้นเคยคือย่าน Tsim Sha Tsui แต่ไม่ได้ช้อปนะ แค่ไปหาสถานที่ถ่ายรูปสวยๆ ตามจุดต่างๆ
โดยตั้งต้นจากสถานี MTR Tsim Sha Tsui exit L6 แล้วเดินมาตามทางลอดถนน (ระหว่างนี้ ก็จะมีศิลปินวัยรุ่นชาวฮ่องกงเกี้ยนมาเแสดงเปิดหมวกบริเวณทางเดินด้วยนะ)
ขึ้นมาเราก็จะเจอกับจุดที่เราจะไปกันเลยทีเดียว เริ่มต้นจากห้าง 1881 Heritage ที่อยู่ทางด้านขวามือของเราเมื่อขึ้นมาถึง ห้างนี้จิงๆ ไม่ค่อยมีอะไร แต่ถ่ายรูปด้านนอกออกมาแล้วสวยงามมาก
อีกที่คือ HK cultural center ที่ต้องเดินข้ามถนนมาอีกฝั่งตรงข้ามกับ 1881 Heritage และอยู่ติดริมอ่าววิคตอเรียเลย จุดนี้ ที่ต้องไปถ่ายรูป คือ ทางเดินบริเวณด้านนอกตัวตึก ที่มีเสาตั่งต่างเรียงตัวกันเป็นจุดนำสายตาไปจนถึงบริเวณริมอ่าว ถ้ามาถ่ายตอนเย็นช่วงพระอาทิตย์ตกได้ เราจะได้แสงเงาจากตัวเสานี้เป็นฉากเด่น และมีริมไลท์จากแสงพระอาทิตย์ตกเป็นฉากหลัง งดงามและเท่ห์มากเลยทีเดียว ใครเล่นไอจี ต้องรู้จักจุดนี้จ้ะ
เดินไปอีกหน่อยก็ถึงริมอ่าว Victoria Harbour เป็นจุดที่ให้เราถ่ายรูปตึกต่างๆ ริมอ่าว และถ้าเราเดินไปเรื่อยๆ ก็จะเจอ Avenue of stars ด้วยนะ ...
แต่เราต้องขอโทษด้วยจิงๆ เพราะตอนไปฝนตกปรอยๆ และหนาวมาก เสื้อผ้าเราไม่พร้อม อุ่นไม่พอที่จะเดินท้าลมหนาวริมอ่าวไปจนถึง Avenue of stars และรอถ่ายรูปไฟตึกตอนกลางคืนได้ เลยได้มาเท่านี้ล่ะจ้าาาาา รีบถ่ายรีบกลับมากเลยอ่ะจ้ะเพราะยิ่งค่ำอากาศริมอ่าวยิ่งหนาวมว๊ากกก

MTR สายสีแดง (Tsuen Wan line) ลงสถานี Tsim She Tsui exit L6
7. Mong Kok and Fa Yuen street (เดินเล่น ช้อปรองเท้า ที่ย่านมงก๊กและ Fa Yuen street)
หัวค่ำ เราก็ไปหาไรกินและเดินเล่นช้อปรองเท้าที่ตลาด Fa Yuen ย่านมงก๊ก ซึ่งรองเท้าเยอะมว๊ากกกกกก มีทั้งลด และไม่ลดราคา รุ่นเก่ารุ่นใหม่รุ่นพิเศษ มีหมด
การเดินทาง
MTR สายสีแดง (Tsuen Wan line) ลงสถานี Mong Kok exit exit D2 แล้วเดินไปตามถนน Argyle street ทางซ้ายมือ ก็จะเจอถนน Fa Yuen street ซึ่งทั้งเส้นนี้ก็จะเป็นร้านรองเท้า
